Mansplaining and manscaping
I heard people use the term mansplaining recently. It was negatively stigmatized but what does it even mean? Also I head people saying something about manscaping and I wondered if that was a type of yard work. Any input is appreciated.

What provisions are there in general for dealing with players who NMR on the first turn? Should we simply agree on a draw and try and rebuild the game with new players? Is there a way to bring in replacements?

New York is the best.
Now that I've gotten everybody's attention, would anybody be interested in playing a game of American Empire where everybody plays as the region that they are from? I think that might be kinda fun and could be a way to release some of this clearly geographical tension that is brewing in the forums.
I'd have to claim NY

Prediction Thread
Trump gets back from his tour in Asia soon, and he'll likely have a response to Roy Moore. Vote on the likely response here:
JamesYanik (548 D)
15 Nov 17 UTC
1. "Absolutely terrible behavior, credible allegations, he should step down"
2. "I don't like it but remember Clinton? Yeah screw Democrats"
3. "What's the big deal, I did much worse than... never mind."

I'm liking 2 for this. Perhaps 3 is what's in his heart, but I think 2 is coming out of his mouth

Lol - that might be the smartest thing (only smart thing?) he's said so far. For him anyway. If he'd denounced Moore outright we'd think he was taken over by an alien

lol. Funny how the liberals pass judgement on other countries standards and system lol

Clearly in China shoplifting is worthy of going to prison or their laws would be different.

Of course if Trump had done nothing, the same liberals would be throwing a fit about him doing nothing while Americans were being held.

The double standards are truly pathetic.
CAPT Brad (40 DX)

Of course you know the period Moore was allegedly doing the inappropriate behavior he was a Registered democrat
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
16 Nov 17 UTC
"Clearly in China shoplifting is worthy of going to prison or their laws would be different"

Chinese prosecutors have a >99% conviction rate. I don't respect that. I certainly don't think shoplifting is a serious charge to begin with, though I suppose things could be worse - you could be worked to death for nabbing a poster off a wall. Are we just supposed to respect that and brush it off as another country's legal system having different standards?
Randomizer (722 D)
16 Nov 17 UTC
Try getting China to prosecute counterfeit goods.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)
16 Nov 17 UTC
"Chinese prosecutors have a >99% conviction rate. I don't respect that."

Oh ok. Well now that you have stated you don't respect that, I am sure they will change their entire system.

"I certainly don't think shoplifting is a serious charge to begin with"

And when you are in charge of a country, you can decide to punish it how you see fit.

"Are we just supposed to respect that and brush it off as another country's legal system having different standards? "

And what is your solution to changing the Chinese legal system? Cause I'm pretty sure when conservatives talk about implementing change in other countries, the liberals throw a fit.

I mean Liberals have interfered in numerous elections and participated in regime change through history but don't like it when they are paranoid and stupidly think the only reason they lost the election was because Russia interfered and not that they simply chose a terrible, terrible candidate that enough of America felt was the worst of the two choices to lose the election.

If you have a clean record like I do and assume that most people I run into do, you get taken to the station, talk with the detectives, return the merchandise, pay a nice fine, get a misdemeanor, and avoid jail time. If you steal a bunch of things or if you've done it before, maybe you get a felony. Odds are that you still avoid jail time unless they want to pin more than the theft on you but that the fine is bigger and you live with the stigma of having a felony conviction for the rest of your life. If you're young and stupid, maybe you do some community service, go through some programs, and get it expunged so that you can actually do normal things like get a job instead of having to live your life in misery over a dumb thing you did when you were 20. A couple of my friends have tried shoplifting and gotten that sort of treatment, so it's not like they chop off fingers for theft anymore, leon. Please don't be a prosecutor or a cop if your goal is to put away as many people as possible for passing a blunt around or snagging a pair of sunglasses.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)
16 Nov 17 UTC
And how is that a plan to change the system in China to your suiting?
leon1122 (190 D)
18 Nov 17 UTC
That's too bad. The American justice system is way too soft. Thugs like **_***## should be locked away in jail.
leon1122 (190 D)

Apologies. I misread that. Thugs like **_***##'s friends should be locked away in jail.
Randomizer (722 D)

@bo_sox48 - Your friends are lucky. At a supermarket now own by Kroger foods, the store security guards choked an alleged shoplifter to death and afterwards they found that he didn't have any store property in his possession. Of course that was too late for the dead shopper trying to leave the store, alive.

TrPrado (461 D)

It’s weird. Criminal justice reform is such a bipartisan issue in Oklahoma you never run into someone as backwards as leon when it comes to this issue. Maybe because leon doesn’t realize the opposite is true, that even now the justice system is too HARSH. That locking people out of society for stupid shit they did ONCE is bullshit. Maybe he’s never had to be impacted by how overly harsh the system actually is. Incarceration rate compared to population here is part of why it’s so bipartisan, but he doesn’t know what it’s like.
leon1122 (190 D)
18 Nov 17 UTC
Of course I haven't been impacted... I haven't broken the law. What a novel concept.
TrPrado (461 D)
18 Nov 17 UTC
You can be impacted by the system without breaking the law. For example a couple was arrested recently because their hibiscus was mistaken for a marijuana plant.
TrPrado (461 D)

Or uh, knowing someone who received lopsided and excessive criminal sentences for minor mistakes as youths.

It’s weird. Let’s let people who committed crimes run free and loose among society but let’s take away the guns of tens of million of innocent people who haven’t committed a crime.

Gotta love liberals.
TrPrado (461 D)
18 Nov 17 UTC
“Crime” is a low standard by which to consider someone’s character. Especially when you consider that people tend to outlaw some really stupid shit.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)
19 Nov 17 UTC
Outlaw really stupid shit like gun ownership despite never committing a crime?
Randomizer (722 D)
19 Nov 17 UTC
You don't have to committed a crime to be considered a threat. There are lots of people that have done things like domestic abuse where charges were never made.

Besides there are plenty of mass shooters that had clean records until they went on a killing spree, but had other indicators.
leon1122 (190 D)
19 Nov 17 UTC
All of those examples are just mistaken arrests. It's not an argument of reducing sentences for those that did commit the crime.

Randomizer, I didn't say everyone who hasn't committed a crime is a good person. However, people who do commit crime still deserve to be punished.
Jeff Kuta (2066 D)
19 Nov 17 UTC
Not all laws are just. We have a Supreme Court tondecidenthat. Mostly they do OK.
TrPrado (461 D)

KansasBoyd (25 DX)
19 Nov 17 UTC
It had to do with outlawing stupid things.

Sorry to give your ego a blow.
TrPrado (461 D)
19 Nov 17 UTC
Wow and I wonder who used the exact parallel of “outlaw some really stupid shit” in the post immediately before yours. Considering your tendency to try and parallel the language of the people you’re talking down to, you have 0 ground to stand on.
TrPrado (461 D)
19 Nov 17 UTC
Like, for example, you saying “good try though” in response to me saying literally the same thing. Or you starting off a paragraph with “it’s weird” because I did (though you missed the point by a mile if you think Oklahoma is a liberal hellscape).
leon1122 (190 D)
19 Nov 17 UTC
Jeff, the Supreme Court does not decide which laws are just, though many leftists seem to wish it does. The Supreme Court only decides which laws are constitutional; at least that's what it's supposed to do.
Jeff Kuta (2066 D)
19 Nov 17 UTC
I would never mistake leon1122 for a civil disobedience kinda guy.
