The problem, ghug, is that you specifically said the thread was to call out centrists instead of conservatives so that you could make a pointed joke at James, but also said it exists to call out people who are in favor of drone strikes. The only way to reconcile these two is by claiming centrists are pro-drone strikes.

It's like that is what I'm claiming or something.

A joke about someone is not an ad hominem. In this case the joke was about me being pretentious, so while I appreciate the sentiment, I don't need you to defend me from myself.

also the basic idea of centrism is the combination of two partisan ideas.

1. punching nazis
2. drone strikes

if this is satirical of centrism, then one side should be liberal, one conservative, and the combination should be hilariously bad.

but i pointed out both of those are primarily democrat viewpoints.

thus either it's a bad piece of satire, or it's super-critical of democrats. knowing DO, i believe it's the former.

Prado, it turns out that the whole drone thing is popular in the center regardless of party. You can label yourself a centrist and be opposed, and good on you for that because killing people is bad, but that doesn't change that fact.

You define centrist as someone not affiliated with both parties. I'm defining it ideologically, which happens to encompass large parts of both parties. It's popular with the political establishment and their supporters.

That's my definition for independent. I know centrists in both parties. I have a very good friend in particular in mind who's a Republican and would be a centrist by any measure. He's not in favor of killing civilians. No other centrist I know or have ever heard of tries to justify killing civilians.

Obama carried out more drone strikes in his first year in office than Bush did his entire time as president - https://www.thebureauinvestigates.com/stories/2017-01-17/obamas-covert-drone-war-in-numbers-ten-times-more-strikes-than-bush.

Using the highest estimates available, the total number of deaths resulting from the
Iraq war (including friendly, enemy, and civilian deaths) is less than 200,000. Where tf did you get 1 million Iraqis killed from?

Update: I did a little more searching and it appears the numbers I found earlier were actually a little dated. That number should be revised up to 250,00-300,000, still far below the 1 million mark though.
