Was Jesus a Vampire?
I was curious, if Jesus was a vampire, like most scholars now assume; was he malkavian, ventrue, brujah, toreador, nosferatu or tremere?

I don't think most scholars can assume he was a vampire. They just have to take it on faith. I've heard that's how it works with Jesus.

@bo I never thought Palestine could be considered part of Arabia. Am I wrong about this? And they probably just couldn't find a pulse and assumed too much. Nobody ever thought to check for one when he was living!
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Historically speaking, I believe the not-quite-Africa, not-quite-Asia, and not-quite-Europe triangle we now call the Middle East is all considered Arabia. Could be wrong, though. It's not all that clear. I find "Arabian" far more appropriate than "Eastern" or whatever other phrase you might choose, though.
pastoralan (100 D)

bo_sox48: Arabia has sometimes been considered bigger than it is today (stretching into Jordan and bits of Iraq), but the area on the Mediterranean coast was never called Arabia at any point. "Jew" referred to a person from the region of Judea, and was an ethnic term as well a a religious one...if you are looking for a geographical term for Jesus the right one is "Galilean."

Dearest Dipbro Brainbomb, the whole suggestion is a nonsense. Clearly there were no vampires until Dracula and the Devil met and Dracula became the first vampire. That meeting is after Dracula defends Europe against the Muslim invasion of the Balkans. So clearly you cannot have Dracula breaking with Christianity until after both the Christian and Islam religions have been established and got down to being more interested in fighting each other and accumulating wealth and power in this temporal world as their primary ambitions.
The whole Dracula story is a phenomenon the reflects the psychological desires of the British for "Gothic horror" as a reaction to the morality of "Victorian" times. A morality influenced by the discoveries about the nature of STDs, principally syphilis. It was the discovery that syphilis has a primary, secondary and tertiary stages and that the mercury based medicines used to "cure" syphilis in the primary stage were completely innefective and the realisation of two main things, that there was no known effective treatment for syphilis, and more importantly, that syphilis was linked to madness etc and that the disease had the potential to destroy dynastic, wealthy families, where there is an imperative to produce healthy heirs and successors.
So there is a reaction to the psychological effects of the strict morality embraced as a reaction to the new knowledge of the time about syphilis, and successful writers fed this desire with the old "Gothic horror stories"

Jesus was a Lich.

Ive also heard theory suggesting that Cain was the first Vampire.
brainbomb (295 D)

I could certainly believe Jesus was a lich, implying he has a phyllactery still out there.
pastoralan (100 D)

The "Cain was the first vampire" theory was invented by White Wolf games. A role-playing game isn't the silliest origin of a set of beliefs, but it's pretty high up the list.
brainbomb (295 D)
01 Feb 17 UTC
Right, the fact that were talking about Cain as if he killed his brother and the human race somehow survived beyond some weird vampiric incest triangle...
brainbomb (295 D)
01 Feb 17 UTC
Yer right though, fantasy stories are too convoluted.
I also heard the theory that the folktales about vampires were originally a satire of orthodox monasticism. The monks:

Expect to live for ever
They sometimes sleep in coffins (my brother slept on a wooden door for a while / he's a monk)
They drink the blood of Christ
Dress in black

Etc.

Good luck Dipbro Brainbomb. There's a few things that disappoint me about the behaviours of a minority of members, the inability to insult without using crude and offensive expressions. The constant choice of betrayal within games. A lot of games are a test of character, golf is a classic example ( like I'll never do business with a chap who cheats at golf ) In my opinion too many members here are failing the character test. I think i am obliged to keep playing in one of the two games I entered that are yet to finish, the other I've decided to NMR / go CD, but cannot comment any more on that at present.

Quite frankly, when I compare what I experience within a new, unconventional relationship and what I'm experiencing here, it's a "no brainer" as to where I'm finding enjoyment and where I'm not.
I stopped referring to this new relationship I am in when Brainbomb let us know his distress at the breakup in his own relationship, because I didn't want to come across as boasting and not being sensitive to Brainbomb's situation.

I know from past experience that when a chap has a busted heart over a relationship break up, it can be a painful thing to see ( or hear about) others enjoying love.

Anyway, good luck Brainbomb, this is me hinting that I've made a decision.

@Brainbomb, it is well establihed that the Tremere didn't exist until at least 1200 years after Jesus's supposed death.

So wr can at least rule that out.

6 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why are your teeth so sharp? 7 If you feed on the living and convert you will not be accepted."

8 Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field and turn some mother fuckers.” While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and drained him.

Hey guys
I am redhouse, I used to play and debate here. I might play and debate again. But I have another question: Who knows a lot about C++? I may have some questions that seem trivial to those who know.

How does muting work?
I've never muted someone in a game before. Therefore, I am quite ignorant about how it works. Clearly if player A is muted by player B, B won't receive any messages from A while they're muted. What happens when B unmutes A? Do all the messages A sent to B while B had A muted suddenly appear, or are they lost forever?

New game Classic
Just went to a FTF tourney. Was fun. Want to play some more classic using the standard tourney rules (except of course 1 Day turns instead of 12 minutes).

Set it at 101d to filter for more reliable players. If that's too steep but you like the rest, chime in here, and I will make a new one with lower bet.
