@Ogion, I am your enemy? The guy hoping that people de-escalate the standoff that's allowing the gaslighting? We need to get better at communicating or the idiot with the loudest protest wins. For my part, I'm not going to label any groups Neo-Nazi unless they say that's who they are, because that will cause those groups to consolidate around nationalist ideas. The alt-right exists in opposition to everything Americans believe and yet they are gaining ground. Why, fake news? No, because the progressives are sorting conservatives into their basket.
If and when this administration attempts to enact fascists policies, like for instance attempting to deport my brown neighbors, I will pick up a gun and hold a real moral line with lethal force. Until then, I will seek to understand the viewpoints of everyone around me. When people feel listened to, they will listen back.
Right now we're like an angry couple staying up until 4 in the morning rehashing all the nasty shit in their relationship. We're ambush listening, we're assigning blame, and entrenching ourselves in our viewpoints. In the metaphor, let's say the husband is a gaslighting liar. Still, a counselor would start by teaching them to communicate properly, not agree with the wife. We know how stupid that would be, and yet every time politics comes up we do it. We think the solution is fighting one or the other side better and overcoming the opposition.
That's what I'm saying. I want Trump out of power because I think he is a predator, and the vast majority of the American and world population agrees. The only way to do that is to destroy the stalemate he is promoting and taking advantage of.
