Is it just me, or is it dumb that you can retreat into other people's territory?

I know it's the rules of the game and all, but I feel like it would make more sense if you could only retreat into your own territory or neutral territory.

Which is more balanced 1-1?

How are the two 1-1s shaping up in terms of balance? The consensus on AvF seems to be that Austria usually wins. What about IvG? Do we have any stats to suggest which is a more balanced match?

What happens if all the other players CD at once in a game? That would really never happen in a classic game, but could be very possible in a 1v1 match. Does the game continue? If it does, what happens if the remaining player draws as the only player left?

On another note, what happens if the other player is eliminated in a 1v1 game, before the remaining player gets to 18? Do they still need to get to 18, or does the game end once the other players is gone?

These things were never important to know before, but now I'm curious, since it could matter with the advent of 1v1s.

It's possible and it's happened a number of times. Perhaps the most infamous one was gameID=123047.

In 1v1s, if the other player is eliminated, you win the game (I think). I have never seen that happen though.

That's quite possibly the funniest game I've seen on WebDip.
So did Al need to draw, or once there was no one left, did the game just end automatically?

It was actually 7 multiaccounts, one went into CD and Al took over without realising what was going on. It was a case I took back when I was an actual mod, seeing that game made my day :D

The game ended automatically - note it was a win, not a draw.

Amusingly if you have a draw vote up and all your opponents go into CD, it is possible to get a one-player draw.

Hi,

This and 11 other accounts I control were created to fill slots in a large game with some friends. We wanted to play the 17 player map with less than 17 people (we are aware of balance issues with this), and our schedules are varied which disallows us from having shorter turns.

^ solos will be awarded any time there is one player remaining in a game, through CDs or eliminations.

I can attest to soloing from everyone else going into CD.
Word of advice: don't ever join a 1-hour-phase game.

One hour games need an auto-pause at night option.

(Just as 1+ day games need an autopause/extended phase for weekends option. Though i actually think losing momentum in a game hurts it more than playing through the weekend...)

Known World 901 quirk:

I'm currently participating in two ongoing games on the new world map. 15 different empires to start, so I should have a 1/15 odds of drawing any empire. I drew the same empire twice in a row... That should be a 1/225 occurrence if the draws were random, or even less if it weights other empires higher after I've drawn that specific empire (to increase variety, which I believe mods have confirmed happens, at least in Classic). Should I play the lottery, or is this a bug?

A learning experience
