@Peregrine falcon
My wife made the change and I initially said I would do it with her as moral support. We went through a two week period where we basically avoided sugar, caffeine, artificial sweeteners, meat, dairy, sodas, etc.
Looking further into it, the thing that really got me was that it takes eight pounds of grain to bring one pound of meat to market. That's too inefficient in a world where many people go hungry. So, taking my family out of the customer pool for the meat industry seems like the right thing to do, even if it is not a solution.
@ Putin thanks for the advice and the encouragement, Reuben sandwiches are my Moms' favorite I may try to make one of those. I will look into the supplements. That has been a concern since I do not usually take vitamins of any kind.
@orathaic Yes, I'm not getting too bent out of shape about it right now. I am still eating salmon and eggs from time to time, but I am using those to introduce new flavors to the kids (and myself), I made omelets with poblano and serrano peppers last night and my nine year old raved about them. It will be a process. I id like coming out of the hibachi grill for my son's birthday being the only one not in pain from being stuffed.
