Then to get into your claims that the topic wasn't degrading. Here is the simplest way imaginable to understand why a thread might get locked. If you were a brand new member and you were visiting this site for the first time. Do you think anyone who identifies as Transgender would be encouraged to return for a 2nd visit if the first thing they saw on this site was:

This is a diplomacy site, it is made and maintained so people can play diplomacy. So they can discuss diplomacy. The site owners graciously allow you to discuss whatever you like, so long as you keep the overall theme of the site welcoming. Your idea for 'improving' moderation is a *bad idea*. It forces mods to call out specific members whether or not it's necessary; makes players think they can game the rules by citing mod statements to justify misbehavior or win unrelated arguments; and leads to more misbehavior and more moderation. You yourself have demonstrated this by talking about how you'd totally ban me as a mod for the same reasoning by which the transgender thread was locked--showing that you don't actually understand the reasoning even when given, but are willing to try using it as a cudgel anyway. You are the poster child for the consequences of mod transparency (or 'clarity', if you think using a different label for the same thing makes your idea less shit).

Obscuring the fact that your basic idea is shit is all the shit behavior you've engaged in around the edges.
