Valis- I did go along with your unexpected friendship long enough to cripple Russia, but it just didn't make sense for me long term. I had already established a friendly border with Italy, which made your only route of expansion through me (or Italy, but that would be complicated and force me to pick a side). My mid-game goal was essentially to reach one side of the board so I didn't have 4 neighbors to worry about.
seth24c- I hoped to reassure you somewhat in S07 by moving my fleet to Albania, and I figured you wouldn't halfheartedly stab me because I had quite a few fleets lying around that could cause you some problems. Luckily for you, Germany started to rack up SCs and I kept the peace...
Gobbledydook- I'm curious, was yours the last draw vote to go up? As the gallery noted, I had been playing for the draw since S11. If you hadn't emerged as such a major power, I probably would have stabbed Italy and might have had a chance at a solo. That's what my fleet builds were for, but I first had to make sure I didn't hand you the game.
Peregrine- I have you to thank for my early game survival. You committed Italy to a stalemate grind on your border, which left me free to mess around with Russia/Turkey. So thank you.
Powow- I have to agree with the gallery, your early game was confounding and somewhat ill-advised. However, you did hold off Germany long enough for me to get established and stop them from getting the solo.
trip- I'd love to know what that army build in St. Petersburg was about, if you have the chance. You played a good tactical game- in the end, you just didn't have any allies.
