Results of Ukraine-Referendum in The Netherlands.
A referendum was held about the pending association treaty between the EU and Ukraine. My country is the only country that hasn't agreed yet, because of a referendum with the unofficial outcome: "no" to the treaty. Some 32% voter turnout.
I voted "yes" and the general thought is that many people voted "no" against the EU in general, with Ukraine as collateral.
Thoughts?

The Right to Bear Arms - A Repudiation
So it turns out that the right to bear arms was actually only intended insofar as the usage by paramilitary militia groups in the event of a prolonged and protracted occupation by an enemy. The modern day interpretation of our gun laws is a fallacy perpetrated by the gun lobby to keep people dying, and keep their coffers flowing.

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Such language has created considerable debate regarding the Amendment's intended scope. On the one hand, some believe that the Amendment's phrase "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms" creates an individual constitutional right for citizens of the United States. Under this "individual right theory," the United States Constitution restricts legislative bodies from prohibiting firearm possession, or at the very least, the Amendment renders prohibitory and restrictive regulation presumptively unconstitutional. On the other hand, some scholars point to the prefatory language "a well regulated Militia" to argue that the Framers intended only to restrict Congress from legislating away a state's right to self-defense. Scholars have come to call this theory "the collective rights theory." A collective rights theory of the Second Amendment asserts that citizens do not have an individual right to possess guns and that local, state, and federal legislative bodies therefore possess the authority to regulate firearms without implicating a constitutional right.

Translation for Webdip: This most certainly does not afford the right to citizens like you or myself to have guns carrying extensive magazines, or semi automatic capability. This is a classic argument of power and money controlling the Supreme Court.

What would be ideal is not for the law to revoke the rights of gun owners but to allow a cessation of gun sales henceforth, and allow gun owners to be grandfathered into a just-clause.

Sending an armed militia out to seize all the guns would be counterproductive and incendiary. There is nothing that frightens a gun owner more than the idea that the big mean evil government is coming to take away their 'dang up freedom'.

So proposal 1.

Ban the sale of all automatic and semi automatic weapons. Nobody needs an AR15 to take down 1 bad guy. Unless World War 3 protracted invasion happens which is a statistical impossibility now in America thanks to the excess volume of guns we already have! A prolonged invasion into America is impossible. Fact.

Now lets take our country back and stop the violence.

Everyone, including the pro-gun lobby, knows perfectly well that this is true.

No-one should be going around with guns unless they are an official member of their state's recognised militia.

Even in that, some of the militia groups attached to states are Anti Federal Government.

The Montana Militia is one of the largest paramilitary groups in North America. Their numbers match that of the Zeta cartels in mexico. Granted the Montana militia is relatively benign in action but certainly is anti government in rhetoric. The average household in Montana posesses over 100 firearms.

Michigan is much more dangerous. The Michigan Militia is often associated with domestic terror, and hate crimes. The majority of the Michigan Militia are staunch conservatives who beleive that guns are a god given right, and that only White people should have guns. many of them proudly wear swastika tattoos and hold KKK style gatherings.
-Is this the type of people who's freedom the founding fathers intended to protect?

How is the Supreme Court not ashamed of itself at this point?

"The Montana Militia is one of the largest paramilitary groups in North America."

Are they recognised as an official milita by the state of Montana?

Actually for a while they were. Montana was one of the only US States that had its own standing Army. Part of this, as unimaginable as it may sound, was that the US portions of Montana were at war with Canadian Alberta briefly to determine where the border between US and Canada was.

The Modern Iteration of the Montana Militia beleives the following:

Ideology[edit]
MOM proposes several points:

The New World Order conspiracy theory combined with the belief that the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was designed to impoverish and enslave Americans.[9]
The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution is designed to provide for armed insurrection against the established government.[10]
The Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution and affirmative action is racist, and therefore should be repealed.[10]
Allodial title applies to individuals who own land outright can be considered sovereign in accordance to groups such as the Montana Freeman in Jordan, Montana.[11]
The Volume 6, Issue No. 10 April 2000 of Taking Aim made references against peace officers:

"Why do you suppose your leaders lead you to oppose the very rights you swore to protect? Why do they want a disarmed public? You know the reason. It has nothing to do with controlling crime. It has everything to do with using you to disarm, fine and control your fellow American Citizens. Don't fall for it. Don't force me to kill you."[12]

John Trochmann on the passage of Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act:

"Health care was one more straw in the camel's back. Perhaps it's the one that breaks it."[13]

Robert Fletcher on anti-Semitic rhetoric:

"If the bulk of the banking elite are Jewish, is that anti-Semitic? The people who are doing this are the international banking elite, and if they are all Jews, so be it, but that's not the case. I don't care if they're Arabs or monkeys."[14]

Well if they're not the state's recognised militia, what business do they have pretending to be?

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State"

Do you know why a milita is necessary only for the security of a free State and not any state? Militias aren't supposed to defend against outside forces. It defends against a scenario where our own government turns away from democracy. The first step that such a government must take is necessarily gun regulations. Normal handguns aren't going to serve that purpose in the modern age with the high-tech equipment the government has. That is why we need "to have guns carrying extensive magazines, or semi automatic capability".

So, leon, you admit that the main reason you'd own a gun would be to fight the US government?

The government has tanks and cruise missiles. Does your right to bear arms give you the right to own those things? If not, why not?

Armed resistance against the government has a great record of success in the US. Think MOVE in Philadelphia, Waco and the hugely successful Malheur National Wildlife Refuge occupation...

The silly liberal gun legislation in the USA, really spoils its reputation making it a lot more unattractive place to live in. I am happy that I live in Sweden where basically only registered hunting rifles are allowed after passing the hunting course exam. And they must be stored in a proper safe so kids and thiefs cannot get hold of them. And yes I am an hunter. I hunt the Elk (moose)

The NRA was sensible for about 100 years, and actually advocated for the first gun control laws. Gun control was not very controversial until the 60s when the US passed new gun laws in the aftermath of the wave of high profile assassinations and race-riots, and it sparked a backlash by the conspiranoids in the 70s who managed to seize control of the group and move it away from marksmanship and toward the realm of reflexive regulation obstruction.

Is there a place for Diplomacy statistics?
I've been casually reading through Richard Sharp's "The Game of Diplomacy" and he keeps referencing statistics he got from somewhere. I know the book is very dated but I was curious as to if there was still somewhere I could find these statistics and if they've been kept up to date.

Is it possible to have exactly one electron sent through an electric circuit somehow?
What I ideally want is two power sources which send one electron each at the same time into one single electric circuit, observing which route is taken (indirectly).
Thoughts on whether this is possible? Thoughts on how to do this?

How statistically possible is it to only get France or Turkey when you play on classic?
Throughout my 20 or so games that I have played, I have been France and Turkey a disproportionate amount of times. I'm not complaining, it just seems weird. In 2 recent games that just started, I drew Turkey in one, and France in another.

So I met this girl
She is moderately attractive, and plays board games. She is very close to my age and is a soil scientist. I was thinking I would play it slow and do the whole friendzone thing for a while intentionally but with an M. Night Shamalyan twist at some point and I surprise her with a new board game we can play or something.
