Karl Marx's predictions about wages
If I under correctly Karl Marx predicted that workers wages would fall, over time, until the workers would have no choice but to overthrow the system. Can anyone tell in which book/essay he actually made this prediction?

What I don't like about Diplomacy
Is that this is a zero-sum game. In order to win, you have to make other players lose. I, as an entrepreneur, libertarian and capitalist, find it particularly hard to see the behavior of people when they think they are playing a zero-sum game. Maybe this is why I take human behavior in the game so hard.

Is Beast Coast still alive, or did it die long ago?
Or is it just now making it's way out the door. Flatbush Zombies released their first main album on the 11th, so that's why I'm asking.

Voting Strategy
With the current political landscape, I am facing the very real possibility of the two main candidates being, in my opinion, pretty awful. I have had numerous discussions with friends over the strategy, but I bring it to you. Is it worth it to vote on principle? Should I vote third party if I think they are the best candidate? Or do I vote for the lesser of two evils among the big two?

Anybody up for a Low-Stakes Live Game in like an hour?
Hi!
Just wondering if anybody would be up for a low stakes live game starting in like an hour.
I'm thinking a bet of 10 and 15 minute phases?

not ready setting
Hello, I'm a newbie here. I am curious. If I put in some orders, save them and click the ready button, my orders are in and everything is great. Later, I go and click not ready. My previous orders were in and now I am changing some of them. I fail to clock watch and the time to make my moves expires. Does the software progress with my first set of orders? Or does the software cause my power to go into Civil Disorder.

wouldn't it be great if a troop as its turn could taunt? It would create so much salt. It would do nothing but change its appearance for that turn. I know taunting could be done in global, but still it would be fun.

Irish Election Predctions
So i'm going to vote tomorrow, and here are my predictions.

orathaic (1009 D(B))
25 Feb 16 UTC
Centre right FG/FF government which remains stable to five year ~ 90%
Failure of political parties to agree, FG forming a minority government, stable for 1 year ~5%
Failure of political parties to agree, no government formed and a second election called ~3%
FF/SF/Lab/Green party coalition government ~1%
Other/Unknown ~1%
Putin33 (111 D)
25 Feb 16 UTC
FG - 60 seats, FF - 35 seats, SF - 25 seats, Labour - 5 seats, Renua - 4 seats, SocDems - 4 seats, Independents the rest.

Labour is destroyed leaving FG with no coalition partner that can get to 79. FF refuses to work with FG in government and instead agrees to support some of FG's economic package and allow it to form a minority government.

Leprechauns to retain Rainbows End seat, albeit with a reduced majority.

60% of seats to continue to be held by relatives of a previous incumbent.

Fine Gael is not doing too hot. Looks like coalition will not get a majority. Labour taking a beating. FF holding steady, SF and independents making considerable gains. Going to be interesting to see what happens from all of this.
orathaic (1009 D(B))
27 Feb 16 UTC
I only have the exit polls, which show a FF gain, ~22% plus the FG 27% makes them the closest to having a majority (depending in how the transfers go... They may need some independents to support them)

All the small parties did well, Green party making a remarkable recovery (though will win few seats as their vote is spread throughout the country) renua and social democrats will pick up seats here and there.

Labour is ruined, and i heard someone say Enda Kenny may lose his seat???

I'm sticking with my predictions. (Though some suggest to me last night a FF split, with most of the party going into government with FG and the rest going into opposition with SF...)
Putin33 (111 D)
27 Feb 16 UTC
I heard the main reason FG and FF don't want to coalition because it would elevate SF as the main opposition party. I heard it called a "shotgun wedding with Sinn Fein holding the shot gun".
orathaic (1009 D(B))
27 Feb 16 UTC
The two parties have a lot of traditional voters, especially in rural areas. (My uncle ad aunt didn't even know there was a local green party candidate in their rural area) and most rural constituencies have gone back to picking FF/FG candidates...

It is harder to oppose your traditional enemy if you ally with them. And it think it would hurt both parties greatly in 5 years time. But yes, Labour and SF in opposition will not help either.
Putin33 (111 D)
27 Feb 16 UTC
Projected seat totals - FG 46; FF 37; Labour - 9; SF - 27; SocDems - 7, PPP-6; Greens - 4; Independent Alliance -; Renua -3; Independents -13; Others -2 (from Michael Marsh, Trinity College).
Putin33 (111 D)
27 Feb 16 UTC
Sorry independent alliance has 4.
Octavious (2732 D)
27 Feb 16 UTC
What the hell is an independent alliance? Sounds like a political party for people who like to pretend they're not in a political party.

You need 79 for a government, don't you? That's going to be one hell of a headache.
orathaic (1009 D(B))
28 Feb 16 UTC
The independent alliance are independent who get soeaking rights as a technical party if they get 7 or more seats they get speaking rights in parliment...

Currently SD - 3; and not moving. Greens - 1; and going to get a second at least.
Renua - 0;(and i'm so happy about this)

Is it 79? I can't remember since they reduced the total this election.

Out of interest, how long does the post election horse trading generally take? Has anyone ever considered you may all be better off with a first past the post system?
Putin33 (111 D)
03 Mar 16 UTC
They convene to elect the pm on March 10.
orathaic (1009 D(B))
03 Mar 16 UTC
Nobody wants a stupid first past the post system, that would be horrendous. Usually it doesn't take long, because you have a fee parties who are willing to compromise, but today, well it is a very special time for Ireland... Honestly, Octavious, have you seen the UK?? Heres a nice video from a brit.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=r9rGX91rq5I

Notice how different % of support from the SNP and UKIP resulted in massively different numbers of seats...
Octavious (2732 D)

From a Brit? Are you sure?
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))

FPTP is a monstrosity. STV is a bit of a bureaucratic hellhole despite being the theoretically perfect form of PR though. AMS is the lovely compromise.
orathaic (1009 D(B))
03 Mar 16 UTC
Well Octavious, you've got me there. I looked him ip and he has dual American-Irish, but i'll call him a Brit because he lives and works in London. You can't seem to tell the difference anyway. :p
Putin33 (111 D)
04 Mar 16 UTC
FPTP rewards geographic concentration. It is truly ironic that the SNP are such advocates of a proportional system when they're the main beneficiaries of FPTP.
I think the democratic deficit of FPTP is a price worth paying for stable majority governments though.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
04 Mar 16 UTC
AMS with a top-up for the largest party is a better solution to that.
Putin33 (111 D)
04 Mar 16 UTC
Is it? How many coalition governments did NZ have prior to implementing it? How many since?
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
04 Mar 16 UTC
No idea. Greece's system works pretty well though. I don't mind coalitions in general though - two party or maybe three party are fine. True rainbow coalitions are inherently unstable, and they do need to have one that is larger than the others and thus a clear leader.
Octavious (2732 D)
04 Mar 16 UTC
How do you define working well? In terms of the production of successful Greek governments the Greek system seems to have misfired a number of times.

My mom is creating a recipe book that is going to be published, and she came to a point where she didn't know weather to capitalize as part of the title: "More Than, or Less Than" or not "more than, or less than"

RECLAIM THE NIGHT
Women should feel and be safe walking in the streets every day and night. Sadly, this just isn't the case, all across the world. But once a year UK feminist groups hold a Reclaim the Night march across our cities. Tonight is that night, reclaiming the night for our mums, sisters, daughters, family and friends that just happen to be women.

Roman's never recorded anyone named Jesus being crucified
For an empire which was renowned for record keeping; it always struck me as odd that nobody named Jesus was ever Crucified. I asked my Mormon girlfriend once and they told me it was because Romans were afraid to let the truth get out that they had killed the son of God.

I Demand a Refund
I paid for a car wash after I got gas at Shell this evening but their wash was out of service. I asked for a refund and was told that it wasn't their fault that the wash was closed and that I should come back some other time when it's open and use the code then.

I'm curious to see what other stupid things you all should but can't get a refund for because of jackass cashiers.
