Cat v. Dog
I think Cats are far more lovable. It has been proven cats increase positivity in their owners. They also purr and reduce blood pressure and stress. Plus you never hear some asshole say: "honey we gotta take the fucking cat for a walk, AGAIN"

Dogs smell, and they jump on people and slobber on you. Cats should win this thing.

US Election 2016: Trump v. Clinton v. Bloomberg.
It's looking more and more certain that this will be the presidential election line-up, with the BBC confirming that Michael Bloomberg will run as an independent if Trump/Clinton receive their respective party's nomination.

@Oct, do you have access to a private tour agency or a ticket broker to get tickets for Wimbledon?
Edward78 (100 D)

Unlikely to get Wimbledon tickets... they are done by lottery/ballot due to the championships popularity.

You should queue for The Championships, else it's not really Wimbledon!

Seriously, it might be worth checking if there is a T20 cricket match on - lasts no longer than a baseball game (over within 3 hours), and if there is one, it'll be at Lords or The Oval, both iconic sporting venues.

ssorenn, how long will you be in London for? and what dates in June?

It would be easier to pinpoint events for you that way.

Wimbledon, for example, only begins at the end of June.

Have you considered the theatre? London's West End theatre is second to none.
wjessop (100 DX)

Ok, I scrolled too fast and missed you saying: 29 June - 1 July.

Buckingham Palace opens in the summer -- you could go on a tour.

Houses of Parliament also open for public tours in the summer; and this is a nice, educational experience.

Definitely visit the Tower of London if you haven't before, and are taking children with you. Then follow that with the London Dungeons live experience. A great combo of history followed by fun -- or the other way around might fill the imagination for touring around the Tower.

Also, London is famous for its open markets: http://www.visitlondon.com/things-to-do/shopping/market/londons-top-markets

Portobello Road Market is tourist-friendly and very diverse, with antiques, etc -- or Maltbys if you want a safe, friendly food experience.

As your stay is so short, it makes more much sense to stay within London and not waste your precious time travelling out to Windsor Castle or Stonehenge (lovely though it would be to see them).

@WJ. London Bridge and Buckingham Palace are on the short list. As well as the Tower of London. A Picture at Abbey Road too the wife and I do like open markets. Great people watching. We are also theater buffs, and I've seen Les Mis three times, and want my kids to see it, but I don't think time will lend itself for that. We have dinner at Sushi Samba, our friends own the restaurant and looking for one other venue for the second night for dinner

The London Dungeons is only worth doing if the kids are fairly old. Traumatising them probably isn't the best day out... then again, maybe it is.

London Bridge is sitting somewhere in a scrapyard in America. Tower Bridge is the one worth visiting. Sort of. It's quite overrated anyway.

Tower of London is great. Never done Buckingham Palace because I hate queues too much. Madame Tussauds is pretty cool.

Hamleys would be something the kids love, I expect. One of the biggest toy stores in the world, and it's on Regent Street, which is next to Oxford Street - and most of the major shops are on those two roads.

sorry, London bridge is in Lake havasu, Arizona and ive been there---Tower bridge is what i meant

kids are 12,14
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
27 Jan 16 UTC
Well, Tower Bridge is right next to the Tower of London, so you can basically do both at the same time.

Kids are old enough for the Dungeons then. Could be fun.
Octavious (2802 D)
27 Jan 16 UTC
If the Dungeons are like the ones in York and Edinburgh they should be good, as long as you haven't already done something similar in the States. If your kids like battleships the HMS Belfast is quite cool.

The wax works are pretty crap, or at least they were when I was 12. Avoid the Tate Modern like the plague. The Imperial War Museum is awesome, but the Science Museum had really gone downhill last time I was there.

Dear aforementioned UK kids,

Hello. I am an avid supporter of soccer (football, futbol fusbal, whatever it's called, I love it) but some worrying trends seem to have caught my eye. What's more worrying, is that the referees in your leagues have not seen it. In fact, they don't seem to see anything.

Your healthcare system is far superior to that of the US, but perhaps prescription specs for the referees might be in order. They do seem to be in desperate need of some.

-Sincerely, every human being alive.

Natural History Museum is better than Science for sure. V&A is great too. And Oct, the Tate Modern is great

Anything with the word "Tate" in it is crap.
MrcsAurelius (3051 D(B))

James Yanik, I totally agree. I am an avid football supporter, but the most popular game in the world has the most underdeveloped refereeing of all the big sports. It is a huge, huge annoyance for me as a fan. Take Man City Everton today, there won't be an all Liverpool final because there is no proper line refereeing. The sport becomes faster and faster and it's just impossible to get it correctly. They should either put a linesman at every line (that's 8 in total) or introduce video refereeing. This just ridiculous.

And yeah the Tate modern is not recommended. Natural history is great, British museum and national portrait gallery are reasonable. Everything Tate is overrated. All in all I'm always a bit underwhelmed by the London musea. For the capital of the world's most recent empire the musea are just not that special. If you scale it against the Louvre, Prado, Kunsthistorisches/Nat Wien, Museum Insel, the Met, MOMA and the Hermitage. It always surprises me a bit.. I was more impressed by the MFA for example than any British art museum to be honest.

Imperial War Museum is the best museum in the city. Second best would be the Transit Museum in Covent Garden. Seriously underrated.

UN II - Constitution, resolutions and proposals.
The world has changed. The time of a lonely superpower is over. There are 17 powers in the world, and each of them has a vote in the security council in the new United Nations (UN).
The purpose of the game is role-playing game of diplomacy where the diplomacy between countries is in focus, not the actual war. You should choose a role to play (the neutral country opposed all wars, the super-power wanna-be, the federalist, the I'm-just-gonna-fuck-you-up-IS-role, or any other role).
