I love world games. Join me!
I really love world games, it's because the map is round (no corner powers) and you have neighbors all around you that you have to befriend or strategically piss off. The balance of the map is reasonable and is compensated by the added challenge of neighbors360. What's not to like?

Approximately what percentage of players on this site are female?
Also, have any of the males pretended to be female to gain trust or to keep from getting stabbed?

South China Sea: Chinese new island land reclamation
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-35031313

Thoughts? What are the Chinese preparing for with all of this land reclamation and military expansion? Is this purely defensive? Or may this be leading to military action?

That's an interesting euphemism, a "bacon and cheese pastry"
It's certainly much more oblique than "strawberry tart", or " muff pie"

See, I've always seen pastry as something sweet.

Apologies, but I've just watched the movie, "Cat Ballou" featuring Lee Marvin in his Oscar winning supporting role, and a young Miss Jane Fonda
My two favourite Jane Fonda movies are Cat Ballou and Barbarella
Jane is almost as spankable as Audrey Hepburn

@ KingCyrus: There are lots of things you can make with pastry that are savoury, not sweet. The British are very fond of savoury meat pies, pasties, and pastries.
MajorMitchell (1600 D)
17 Dec 15 UTC
The traditional Cornish pastry was both savoury and sweet
One half or slightly more was a savoury vegetable part, maybe with some meat, with an internal pastry divider, the other part had jam, a sweet.toppled with a fold in the pastry so that miners could use that to hold it with grubby fingers
So it had both the savoury and sweet in one pastry

Nigee was given a permasilence for disrespecting the mods some time ago, only just escaping an outright ban. Something of a low point for the site, in my opinion. He continued being a very active player for quite a while after, but I think he's lost interest in the past few months.
MajorMitchell (1600 D)

Am I to believe that was not a compliment ?
Octavious, sshhveety, smoochy pie (or pastry ), and I thought you had this sentimental affection towards my good self.
Hey, I did make a genuine contribution with the example of the Cornish Miners traditional pastry or pasty.
MajorMitchell (1600 D)
18 Dec 15 UTC
The only possible problem with my Cornish Miners traditional pastry is perhaps the British thingy.
I had no intention of offending any Cornish persons by implying they have no culture or cuisine other than "British" culture and cuisine.

See what happens when I take a sabbatical, both Draugnar and Naughty Nigee crash and burn without my calming, soothing, influence for good
Octavious (2802 D)
18 Dec 15 UTC
Being Cornish I am offended by your implication that the Cornish pasty isn't British. Everything Cornish is British by definition. A better kind of British, certainly, but very much still British.

The sweet and savoury pasty is something of a myth designed to make emmets look foolish, by the way. All you need do for the full effect is earnestly insist that the savoury side was marked with an s so you could tell it apart from the sweet side ;).

So what's the difference between a pastie and a pastry?
Jamiet99uk (1307 D)
18 Dec 15 UTC
"Pastry" is a more general term. A pasty (not "pastie") is a type of pastry. The bacon and cheese thing I mentioned in the OP was a kind of pastry turnover.

Example picture here:

http://www.blogbybaby.com/wp-content/uploads/blogger/cheese%2Band%2Bbacon%2Bturnovers.jpg

A "pastie" is what a burlesque or erotic dancer uses to cover her nipple.

That point on spelling
I'm in South Australia, which had a lot of migrants from Germany, fleeing religious persecution in period approx 1840 to 1890, and a lot of Cornish migrants in same time who came to work in copper mines eg at Burra

So commonly its pasty singular, pasties plural for vegetable "pastries"

The German migrants were influential in starting wine industry here, and also legacy in cuisine, cakes and sausages.

Thanks for entering my player name in Zultars give away list
I wouldn't have a clue on how to do a cut and pasty on akst like that using this new mobile phone that the fire breathing MemSahib, Her Indoors, gave me as an early Christmas present. That woman was surely sired by the very devil incarnate.

This new phone doesn't have buttons, I had to go to the phone shop to find out how to answer an incoming call, and be shown the "touch and slide" technique.

Anyway I decided not to risk offending Zultar as he is surely a top Archangel type of Almighty Mod, and possibly the mysterious Grand High Inquisitor of WebDiplomacy mythology, so I'm posting this in the pastry thread.

You've been helpful to me and I thank you, but it appears you've also been a naughty blighter by being cheeky to Zultar, so this Christmas you cannot play the Messiah in the traditional Christmas Pantomime.

It's just a bowl of thin gruel for you and no Christmas pudding.

I also posted here go keep this silly thread a going concern.

What Anime Should I Watch Next?
Not sure how much of webdip watches anime, but I may as well take recommendations. Currently my list of next to watch is (some may be abrreviated): Terror in Resonance, Rage of Bahamat: Genesis, Durarara!, The Mightiest Disciple, Seven Deadly Sins and Log Horizon. Also, please given reasons for any suggestions, whether they are on my list or not. Thanks.

Created a new webdiplomacy.net app for the smartphone

Its really simple, anytime you join a live gunboat, you set an alarm and it reminds you "hey dumbass you joined a gunboat". Then you play that gunboat from anywhere on this amazing thing called a web browser. It comes standard on most phones and its really cool.
I get live updates straight to my phone anytime on webdip by just refreshing the page. You can download this free app simply by going to www.webdiplomacy,net and logging in on your phone!
