1,408 balanced reduced latin squares.
Once a half a year or so ago on here, I mentioned this paper http://condor.depaul.edu/mash/Diplomacy.pdf and how I'd really like to get my hand on some of those squares. Well, Tim McMurry sent me 1,408 reduced latin squares to be used in balanced diplomacy tournaments.

The Art of Correspondence in the Game of Diplomacy
Hi folks, I just wanted to alert the webdip community to my new book. I've finally completed a two-year study of what makes for effective negotiations (and what doesn't work so well). http://www.amazon.com/Art-Correspondence-Game-Diplomacy-ebook/dp/B015XAJFM0/ Thanks, Conor

Mafia XII Game Thread

MAFIA XII: X-Men Apocalypse

X-Men! Your team's superhuman abilities are needed once more to maintain the fragile peace and equality that exists between mutants and humans!

In difficult economic times, anti-mutant fear and bigotry is fierce and widespread. Professor X has used Cerebro to track down the leader of the Brotherhood of Mutants, Magneto, and has discovered his shocking plan for a new world order dominated by mutants! Magneto intends to raise the Spirit of En Sabah Nur, and bring about an apocalypse to finally put an end to human bigotry and intolerance! X-Men, the Brotherhood must be neutralised before they raise En Sabah Nur and release the Age of Apocalypse!

Brotherhood, can you prevent the X-Men team from interfering with your plans for a world led by mutants? X-Men, can you neutralise the Brotherhood before it's too late?

More troubling news! In fear, Rogue has run away from the safety of the X-Men and has, quite literally, gone rogue! She is unable to control her powers and the Brotherhood have branded her a Power Thief! X-Men, can you neutralise Rogue's powers and bring her back to safety? Brotherhood, will you capture Rogue before she interferes with your plans? Rogue, will you survive long enough to finally be free from the clutches of the X-Men and Brotherhood?

Mafia XII: X-Men Apocalypse has begun!

------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------

INTRODUCTION

Mafia is an educated guessing game of epic proportions, challenging you to put your Diplomacy skills to good use, as you become either 'Town' or 'Mafia', and analyze, argue, convince, and lead, or schmooze, lie, deceive, and hoodwink, to win with the power of your words.

The Town's objective in the game is to lynch all Mafia members before the Mafia outnumber the rest of the Town. The Town can vote to lynch one player in each Day phase. Remember that mafia members are also part of the Town during the day and may manipulate the lynch vote to their liking.

The Mafia's objective is to avoid being lynched in the Day phases and kill Town members during the Night phase so that the Mafia outnumbers and can thus take control of the Town. The Mafia can vote to kill one Town member in each Night phase.
.

RULES

0. The GM reserves the right to adjudicate individual scenarios that arise during the course of the game at his discretion.
1. All players must vote at least once per game day and post at least twice per game day.
2. All players are forbidden from posting screenshots of their role PMs.
3. All players are forbidden from using encryption.
4. All players are forbidden from using non-sanctioned PMing.
5. All players are forbidden from deleting previous posts of theirs.
6. All spectators and players who have been eliminated are forbidden from posting on all comment threads related to the game notes.
7. All players are forbidden from cheating.
8. All players are required to play to win.

ELABORATION

0. Given a lack of omniscience, the GM cannot create a rule to resolve all possible scenarios pre-emptively. To compensate for this, the GM is permitted to resolve a given scenario however they see fit, within the remit of the rules listed above, in the interest of all participants. The GM will resolve all scenarios as closely as possible to the intention of the rules, and will present an explanation regarding the adjudication to the greatest possible detail (which does not compromise anything in-game) and as closely in accordance with the written rules as possible.

1. A minimum posting limit of two required substantial posts (and a vote included) has been set to reduce lurking. While inactivity is, on some level, an important part of the game of Mafia, players who provide nothing but a warm body serve only to reduce the degree of enjoyment and increase the degree of frustration of the other players in the game. Signing up for this game is an expression of commitment to taking it seriously – do not sign up if you believe you will not be able to spend any time on it.

2. All role PMs have been posted in the setup information below, and all players (regardless of alignment) will receive identical copies of the vanilla town role PM. The point of this rule is to forbid "gaming" the role PMs to determine alignments; after all, the fun of this game is reading people, not outguessing the GM.

3. Encryption is defined as posting an encoded message on public channels that an average person would require outside tools to decode. It is perfectly acceptable to leave "hidden messages" in your posts (for example, spelling out "I AM THE COP" with the first letters of every sentence), but as a rule of thumb, if you don't think the average webDip user could decode it without a decryption service, don't post it.

4. All in-game communications should be kept within the thread. The mafia will receive a QuickTopic thread for communicating with one another outside of the game thread during Night phases; aside from this, there should be no other forms of private messaging.

5. Rule 5 should not present a problem for Mafia games on WebDiplomacy, as site users are not currently able to edit or delete their own posts in any way; however, if you do in fact possess some means of deleting or editing your posts after you've submitted them, you are forbidden from doing so.

6. Players who have been removed from the game are no longer playing the game, and will not be permitted to comment on it in private messages or comment threads. A special chat room will be opened for individuals who wish to spectate on the game, or players who have been eliminated. Use these channels to discuss the game while it is still ongoing.

7. This is a catch-all rule intended to preserve the spirit of the game. If you are considering saying or doing something that may be against the spirit of the game, message the GM about it before saying/doing it and the GM will let you know whether it is allowed or not.

8. This rule simply means that your actions should in some conceivable way advance your win condition as stated in your role PM. This rule is somewhat subjective, because the difference between a mistake and sabotage is sometimes hard to determine; the GM will exercise caution and restraint in observing this rule. This also means that if you need to leave the game for any reason, you should not simply drop out, but should message me first so I can determine the best course of action.

PENALTIES

The penalty for breaking one of the above rules is decided at the GM’s discretion, up to and including immediate removal from the game and/or sanctions from future games. Removal and/or sanction are instruments of last resort and will be used only if absolutely necessary. A player removed from the game may or may not have their role revealed on removal, depending on the circumstances surrounding their removal.

VOTING
There are three levels of voting within the game: collective voting to lynch players in Day phases, collective voting to end a Day or Night phase, and Mafia voting to kill town members in Night phases.

The first level of voting is for whom you intend to lynch. Notate this vote with a pair of octothorpes before your intended vote target. (e.g., ##VOTE Eden) You do not need to spell out your intended target's username fully; as long as the GM can understand who you're referencing. In the event of a tie during a lynch vote, no one shall be lynched.
PLEASE NOTE: If you do not use double octothorpes your vote will not be counted, for reasons of fairness but also because it is unlikely the GM will see your vote using the CTRL+F feature and this rule this prevents vote miscounts.

The second level of voting is whether or not to employ the hammer mechanic. By default, days are set to 48 hours long, and nights to 24 hours long; however, players may instead elect to end the day as soon as a majority is reached (called a “quick hammer” or simply “hammer”). Notate this vote with a pair of octothorpes before the word end. (EX: ##END) The game will switch to the hammer mechanic for the duration of that day once a majority of players choose to do so. If you are not able to vote before the hammer is dropped, you will not be penalized for failing to vote during that day.

The third level of voting refers to Mafia members choosing their NK (nightkill) targets during Night phases. The mafia members will use their separate QuickTopic thread to discuss this. Please make your votes in bold, like so: kill Eden (< b > kill Eden < / b >). Mafia NK will be decided by majority vote. In the event of a tie, the most recent vote will decide.

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES

SPAM
Spamming (defined as excessive content-free posting; or, excessive posting regarding subjects irrelevant to the game) is not mod-killed by rule in this game. The in-game voting mechanic exists to curb any advantage that spamming as a tactic may confer; please reference the “VOTING” section above for more information. Suffice to say that spamming is not worth anyone’s time in this setup, and will be frowned upon, so while you may not be lynched or mod-killed for spamming, please refrain from doing so.

PLAYER SILENCES:
Players that have other participants on their mute list are asked to remove them for the duration of this game. Disputes stemming from outside of this game should not carry over into the gameplay. If they do, the GM reserves the right to address these issues and potentially remove or sanction players if it becomes a disruption.

FORUM SILENCES:
If a player is silenced on the forum by the moderator/admin team, an alternate will take their place for the duration of their silence. The silenced player will then have the option to take their position back over or leave it in the hands of the alternate. As long as the silence does not stem from actions involving the mafia thread, there will be no in-game sanctions for a forum silence.

REPLACEMENTS
A player wishing to drop out may be replaced at the GM's discretion. Individuals wishing to serve as potential replacements must NOT join the out-of-game God QT. (Being in the Observer QT is acceptable). Replacement is not guaranteed.

TURN DURATION
This game’s Day phases will last 48 hours and Night phases will last 24 hours, unless cut short by in-game mechanics (e.g., hammer). Extensions may be granted at a moderator’s discretion, but don’t count on it. Phase shifts will be 6 pm EST / 10 pm UTC.

MODERATOR/GM TEAM
The moderator/GM for this game is Wjessop (userID=71055). PM me with any questions or concerns and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. The co-moderator/GM for this game is Espi (userID=6682).

MINIMUM POSTING RULE (ALL CAPS TO DRAW ATTENTION)
ALL PLAYERS MUST POST A MINIMUM OF 5 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF EACH 48 HOUR GAME DAY. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN A MODKILL AT THE GM'S DISCRETION.

FORMAT INFORMATION

20 players:

14 Town:
1 Professor X (Friendly Headmaster)
1 Wolverine (Vigilante)
1 Cyclops (Cop)
1 Storm (Deflector)
10 X-Men (Vanilla Town)

4 Mafia:
1 Magneto (Roleblocker)
1 Mystique (Ninja)
1 Sabretooth (Mafioso)
1 Spirit of En Sabah Nur (Anti-Deflector)

1 Town or Mafia:
1 Jean Grey: Phoenix or Dark Phoenix (Sleeper)

1 Third Party:
1 Rogue (Power Thief)

Role PMs:

TOWN:

Vanilla:
You are a member of the X-Men! During the day you may make an accusation against someone; the candidate who reaches a plurality will be neutralised by the X-Men team at the end of the day. You have no night actions. You win once all mafia/Brotherhood mutants have been neutralised, and Rogue has been safely brought home.

Friendly Headmaster:
You are Professor X, leader of the X-Men, the Friendly Headmaster! During the day you may make an accusation against someone; the candidate who reaches a plurality will be neutralised at the end of the day. During the night you may select one player. At the end of the night, that player will receive a PM revealing your identity as Professor X. Using Cerebro, Professor X also has the power to transmit a message (no longer than 20 words) to the same player. You may not target the same player twice. You win once all mafia/Brotherhood mutants have been neutralised, and Rogue has been safely brought home.

Vigilante:
You are Wolverine, the Vigilante! During the day you may make an accusation against someone; the candidate who reaches a plurality will be neutralised at the end of the day. During the night, you break away from the X-Men and select one player to execute with your claws; at the end of the night, that player will be killed, unless you are roleblocked. You may sneak off from the X-Men and act alone only twice during the entire game; after your second kill, Professor X will catch on to your unilateral actions and ensure that you do not stray again. If you are roleblocked, your kill will not count and so your opportunity to kill will remain available to you. You win once all mafia/Brotherhood mutants have been neutralised, and Rogue has been safely brought home.

Cop:
You are Cyclops, the Cop! During the day you may make an accusation against someone; the candidate who reaches a plurality will be neutralised at the end of the day. During the night you may select EXACTLY 3 PLAYERS to scan with your energy beam. At the end of the night, if any of the players you scanned are Magneto, Sabretooth, the Spirit of En Sabah Nur, or Rogue, you will get a PM at night's end saying that you scanned mutants who are not members of the X-Men. Otherwise, you will get a PM saying that you only scanned your fellow X-Men. Jean Grey is a member of the X-Men so will only scan negative if she rises as the Dark Phoenix; Mystique's shapeshifting abilities mean that she will always appear as a member of the X-Men if scanned. You win once all mafia/Brotherhood mutants have been neutralised, and Rogue has been safely brought home.

Deflector:
You are Storm, the Deflector! During the day you may make an accusation against someone; the candidate who reaches a plurality will be executed at the end of the day. During the night you can manipulate the weather to deflect night actions. You may select one player to protect; and another player on whom to deflect any night actions that target the first selected player. Any negative night action targeting the first selected player will be deflected on to the second named player. More simply, selected Player A will not be roleblocked / nightkilled / vig shot and any such action will instead be deflected on to selected Player B. The Deflector may deflect actions away from themselves, but cannot target actions on to themselves. The Deflector cannot target the same player consecutively. This ability cannot be roleblocked because Storm can conduct and deflect electricity through any interference attempts from Magneto's metals. Anyone whose night actions are deflected will be notified at the end of the night. You win once all mafia/Brotherhood mutants have been neutralised, and Rogue has been safely brought home.

MAFIA:

Roleblocker:
You are Magneto, leader of the Brotherhood mutants, the Roleblocker! During the day you may make an accusation against someone; the candidate who reaches a plurality will be executed at the end of the day. During the night, you may talk to your mafia/Brotherhood mutants, and choose who to roleblock. Your mafia/Brotherhood mutant teammates are <Mafia Member B>, Mystique (Ninja), <Mafia Member C>, Sabretooth (Mafioso), and <Mafia Member D>, the Spirit of En Sabah Nur (Anti-Deflector). The target of your roleblock WILL be notified that they have been roleblocked. You may choose not to roleblock anyone. If no other mafia/Brotherhood mutants are available to kill during the night phase, you will be able to make the kill that night, but will not be able to use your roleblock ability. You win once Rogue has been captured and either all of the town/X-Men players are dead, or nothing can stop you from eliminating all of the town/X-Men players. You may use, and must submit night actions to, this QuickTopic thread: <QuickTopic thread link>.

Ninja:
You are Mystique, the Ninja! During the day you may make an accusation against someone; the candidate who reaches a plurality will be lynched at the end of the day. During the night, you may talk to your mafia/Brotherhood mutants, and vote on who to kill. Your mafia/Brotherhood teammates are <Mafia Member A>, Magneto (Roleblocker), <Mafia Member C>, Sabretooth (Mafioso), and <Mafia Member D>, the Spirit of En Sabah Nur (Anti-Deflector). The target of your factional roleblock WILL be notified that they have been roleblocked, though only Magneto (the Roleblocker) will ultimately decide who is roleblocked. You may vote not to kill anyone. If Cyclops (the Cop) scans you with his energy beam your shapeshifting ninja abilities mean you will scan as a member of the X-Men. You win once Rogue has been captured and either all of the town/X-Men players are dead, or nothing can stop you from eliminating all of the town/X-Men players. You may use, and must submit night actions to, this QuickTopic thread: <QuickTopic thread link>.

Mafioso:
You are Sabretooth, the Mafioso! During the day you may make an accusation against someone; the candidate who reaches a plurality will be neutralised at the end of the day. During the night, you may talk to your mafia partners, and vote on who to kill. Your mafia partners are <Mafia Member A>, Magneto (Roleblocker), <Mafia Member B>, Mystique (Ninja), and <Mafia Member D>, the Spirit of En Sabah Nur (Anti-Deflector). The target of your factional roleblock WILL be notified that they have been roleblocked, though only Magneto (the Roleblocker) will ultimately decide who is roleblocked. You may vote not to kill anyone. You win once Rogue has been captured and either all of the town/X-Men players are dead, or nothing can stop you from eliminating all of the town/X-Men players. You may use, and must submit night actions to, this QuickTopic thread: <QuickTopic thread link>.

Anti-Deflector:
You are the Spirit of En Sabah Nur, the Anti-Deflector! During the day you may make an accusation against someone; the candidate who reaches a plurality will be neutralised at the end of the day. During the night, you may talk to your mafia/Brotherhood mutants, and vote on who to kill. Your mafia/Brotherhood teammates are <Mafia Member A>, Magneto (Roleblocker), <Mafia Member B>, Mystique (Ninja), and <Mafia Member C>, Sabretooth (Mafioso). The target of your factional roleblock WILL be notified that they have been roleblocked, though only Magneto (the Roleblocker) will ultimately decide who is roleblocked. If you are neutralised by the X-Men, and there are any remaining mafia/Brotherhood mutants left, your apocalyptic powers will allow the mafia/Brotherhood to kill two targets in the Night following you death. This double kill benefit will only function if you are lynched during the Day. You win once Rogue has been captured and either all of the town/X-Men players are dead, or nothing can stop you from eliminating all of the town/X-Men players. You may use, and must submit night actions to, this QuickTopic thread: <QuickTopic thread link>.

TOWN OR MAFIA:

Jean Grey, to be possibly known as the Phoenix (Town) or the Dark Phoenix (Mafia), starts as a regular X-Men member receiving the standard vanilla town X-Men member message.

RULE OF LOVERS: If Cyclops (Cop) or Wolverine (Vigilante) are killed in the Night, Jean Grey will rise as the Phoenix. However, if Cyclops or Wolverine are neutralised in the Day by the X-Men, Jean Grey will take vengeance as the Dark Phoenix.

If Jean Grey rises as the Phoenix she will be able to use her newfound telepathy to learn the identity of one player. If Jean Grey rises as the Dark Phoenix her power rests in providing the mafia/Brotherhood with an additional member.

If the Rule of Lovers is met, Jean Grey immediately receives a PM instructing her of either circumstance:

Jean Grey, you have unlocked your superhuman abilities and rise as the Phoenix. You are committed in your town alignment to the X-Men and can now learn the identity of one player.
OR
Jean Grey, you have unlocked your superhuman abilities and rise as the Dark Phoenix. You are committed in your mafia alignment to the Brotherhood and will join your new mafia/Brotherhood teammates, <Mafia Member A>, Magneto (Roleblocker), <Mafia Member B>, Mystique (Ninja), <Mafia Member C>, Sabretooth (Mafioso), and <Mafia Member D>, the Spirit of En Sabah Nur (Anti-Deflector). During the night, you may talk to your mafia/Brotherhood mutants, and vote on who to kill. You win once Rogue has been captured and either all of the town/X-Men players are dead, or nothing can stop you from eliminating all of the town/X-Men players. You may use, and must submit night actions to, this QuickTopic thread: <QuickTopic thread link>.

THIRD PARTY:

Power Thief:
You are Rogue, the Power Thief! During the day you may make an accusation against someone; the candidate who reaches a plurality will be neutralised at the end of the day. During the day, you may also select EXACTLY 3 PLAYERS, ordered from 1 to 3, to steal a power from. If one of the three players has a power available to you, you will gain that power to use in the night. If more than one of the three players has a power available to you, you will gain the power from the first-prioritised player. You will not in any circumstance be informed of which player you stole the power from. The powers available to you, contingent on the relevant player being alive, are as follows: Cop scan, Vigilante shot, Deflector ability, Roleblock ability, Nightkill ability (for Ninja/Mafioso/Anti-Deflector). You may not target the same players consecutively. You win once everyone else is dead, and you can finally be free from the clutches of the X-Men and Brotherhood.

Additional Role Elaborations

Third Party:
Rogue (Power Thief)

1. Rogue stealing a power does not inhibit the other person using their ability, it just gives Rogue the opportunity to use it as well.

2. Rogue needs to successfully target a mafia player who is *not* the Roleblocker to get a night kill.

3. Rogue targets in the day. As such, even if Rogue targets a player who is lynched, Rogue will absorb that person's ability if they have a power available to her.

4. If Rogue is roleblocked in the night she won't be able to use any power she may have gained at the end of the day.

5. Rogue receives any power only for that one night and must then find a new power to steal.

Remember that Rogue cannot target the same players consecutively, so it will be a Cluedo-type game for Rogue to work out who she can target and cross-off for certain skill types.

Town:
Professor X (Friendly Headmaster)

1. Professor X's Friendly Headmaster role is a boosted version of the Friendly Neighbour. Professor X will inform the GM of the player selected to visit, and will additionally transmit any message to the GM as well if so desired, so that the GM informs simultaneously of the visit and message.

2. References to Professor X in relation to other characters are part of the story only. As usual, this is flavour. (Please thus note: the lucky person playing Storm does not receive any actual control over the weather.)

Magneto: Inside my head again, Charles? You may learn my plans with your inventions, but your X-Men will not stop me this time.

Prof. Charles Francis Xavier: You don't know what you are doing, Eric. You will not be able to control En Sabah Nur. Stop this, for all of us.

Magneto: You will wake up and have us dead, Charles. It is not another mutant you should be afraid of, it is your own love for the humans that would see us locked away. Your devotion to human beings will be the undoing of you.

Prof. Charles Francis Xavier: No Eric, it is only your hatred that will be the undoing.

X-Men!

As we all by now know, the Brotherhood are plotting to raise the Spirit of En Sabah Nur to unleash an Age of Apocalypse! And Rogue has run away in fear! The Brotherhood mutants, Magneto, Mystique, Sabretooth, along with the rising Spirit of En Sabah Nur, must be stopped! And Rogue must be located, for her own protection!

Be vigilant for deceit and duplicity -- and don't let yourself be deceived or become deranged! X-Men, don't turn on each other: only you can protect Rogue from herself and neutralise the Brotherhood!

MAFIA XII: X-MEN APOCALYPSE HAS BEGUN!

I don't do joke votes. I'm putting my D1 strategy on the table now, and I encourage anyone interested to follow me on this.

Two quotes from last game:

Jeff Kuta: 'That, and the fact that the town almost always mislynches D1, has made me lose respect for those lynches.'

guak: 'D1 has worst odds than random. Mafia manipulates the vote so they get a town kill more often than not.'

Last game, I analyzed the probability of a completely random game. It works well for town, but only if there are no nightkills. Since we do have nightkills, that's a losing strategy. However, I think that a random lynch D1 would work in the town's favor. As Jeff and guak said, if the vote is not random, it's almost guaranteed to be a mislynch, whereas a random lynch would have even odds of being a mislynch.

For that reason, I'll be voting randomly on D1 -- and D1 ONLY. I'll be using the first four digit random number posted at the link below on the day of the lynch. I'll subtract 20 from that number until it's 20 or less, and then count down the player list as posted in the first post of this thread, and vote to lynch the person indicated by the number. If the person is me, it wouldn't be advancing my win condition to vote to kill myself, so I'll vote no lynch, but if anyone else is following my strategy, they'll vote for me and lynch me.

What can we learn from a random wagon?

* There's a 1 in 4 chance that we get lucky and hit mafia or Rogue, and that makes it all worthwhile even if we learn absolutely nothing.

* Anyone who changes their opinion on my strategy around the time that the random number is revealed (unless the random number points to them) is likely mafia.

* Just like any other D1 lynch, the odds are good that if town is lynched, at least one mafia member was on board. Actually, I think that the odds of scum being on board is even higher, because even though the odds of town being lynched are slightly lower, the people on board reveal less about themselves.

* While I will not be swayed away from the randomly selected target, I expect that other people on board with my strategy can be swayed. This gives the person selected a good chance to try to defend himself, and/or panic and make mistakes. Basically it has all the advantages of any other wagon, except that the chances of the target selected being mafia are slightly higher.

Saladin, this is even worse of an idea than intentionally tying the vote.

Why?

If you're going to randomly lynch on day one, you will not get any information out of it. It takes the threat of being lynched for actual scumminess off the table, and scum can just sit around laughing at us because we just RANDOMLY LYNCHED. And unlike a no-lynch, which has the same downside, the random lynch doesn't even give you the benefit of keeping all townies alive until night one. It's like the worst aspects of a no-lynch and the worst aspects of a regular-lynch combined.

The last two out of three games I played, the town caught mafia day 1. (Granted Bo was drunk when he got caught.)
Still, it's more than possible to catch scum day 1.

Also, it's more fun to actually play the game, than to randomly lynch and cross our fingers.

@DL - There is never any threat of being lynched for actual scumminess. The town knows nothing on D1, and lynches in past games reflect that. It's worse than random, and making it pure random is an upgrade.

I'm gonna side with Flum here. I'm sorry, I don;t really care about the plusses or minuses of a random lynch, I want to play the game. I think any VT will feel the same, deducing alignments and lynching is all we do unlike mafia and power roles who might not care as much if the first lynch was random.

@Saladin - That first sentence is completely wrong. People have been lynched for being scummy before and even if the lynch mob picks wrongly, as it often does, the information from day one often ends up being important.

If you don't want to take out a townie for no reason, shouldn't you advocate no-lynch? Because you'd get the same amount of info from no-lynch as you would from random-lynch.

A random lynch has almost an equal chance to taking out one of our power roles as it does to taking out mafia.

@SS - maybe your stats are misrepresenting what's happening. I seem to recall that more recent games have had a better outcome for D1 lynches. Since most of the players have played in several games to date, perhaps we're getting better at picking out scum earlier? If that's true, then your proposal would actually be worse than both the normal-lynch or no-lynch strategies.

Also, whoever we lynch even if it is a mislynch is scummy. Good to clear out those player over obvtownies.

##vote ND because he was on the forum waiting to get a no-content post out at 6:01 and then felt no need to actually contribute. Maybe bc he already knows who the scum are?

@SaladinSmith

Last game the D1 vote was not random. An organic wagon formed around Balki’s “scumslip”. I put it in quotes because he wasn’t scum, but at the time I thought he was. With this organic wagon I was able to use my statistical analysis method to eventually catch one scum although I must say that the reaction from the community has been harsh on my method to say the least. You were there Saladin and you know that we were eventually able to get Bo and Lucland through casework and yoyo’s cop scan. Randomness had nothing to do with it. If you simply vote using a random method then you not only take the challenge out of the game, but the possibility of actually looking at statements, doing casework, and making arguments which do catch scum. Also think about the damage your method could do to the town if your random guess kills a PR instead of a mafia. DL rightly points out that the odds are near equal there in this setup whereas in the last there were not equal. There were more scum then town pr in M11 then in M12.

Overlord sinply posted later. 3 minute lapse is literally 3 times less notable than a 1 minute lapse between game start and first post. ND got a strong post up so ##Vote Demon for making a joke and then never following up with content.

@ND - Yes, of course, we were eventually able to track down the scum in the last game. But it didn't happen D1. My first post here explicitly says this is a D1 strategy only, and I think it increases our odds for D1. But as I said, this is clearly not a strategy for the entire game.
DeathLlama8 (514 D)

@ND - the harsh reaction was mostly that ten games isn't a valid sample size, and someone pointed out that last game that amongst any four randomly selected individuals, there was a 90% chance at least one would be scum.

Top 100 GR game. Full press. Anon. WTA.
Hi all, I want to try and play one more game before I take a break again. Some games I played the past months have been great, others a bit disappointing. Overall I still think GR is the best indicator for a noNMR high level of press game, as it was three years ago before I returned to the site. So for my last game before my break I'd like to try and set up a top 100 GR game. Is there anyone out there willing to spar?

Off to work to play Diplomacy
Today I'm in the fantastic position that I'm off to work to play Diplomacy. Or at least, GM it. A local bank is setting up a game for 300 (!) employees, in a trajectory to kickstart discussions about trust and audacity in company culture. I'm really interested: have others ever used Diplomacy in a professional setting? Maybe we're on to something.

So I have permission to use a 3D printer for my boardgame prototype..
Now I need 3 D models to print and use as units. I need tanks, infantry, helicopters, planes, artillery, battleships, factories, territory markers (flags or more creative) and possibly the resources oil, iron, gold and aluminium depicted somehow..
Could I find files for those somewhere? Thoughts?

How does PPSC work?
I thought that in PPSC you always, no matter what, hey points according to the number of SCs you control. But someone in game told me that if you draw, all the points are split among survivors.

Can someone clarify for me?
