I'm working on some statistics reporting for webdip, and I'm interested in what the forum thinks: Are "Gunboat" games just games with no messaging, or are they games with no messaging that are also anonymous?

Lusthog history
Does anyone know where the Lusthog diplomacy variant came from? I can't find references to it outside of webdiplomacy- is it an in-house invention? Who gets the credit?

Rainbow facebook friends
so, i have looked through my friendlis and out of around 98 people, i only have 2 people who have rainbow picks. I am in the center of utah in a community of around 70% mormons, so mine is probably way lower than average. I want to compare it to how off from the usual it is, so how many rainbow friends do you have?

Just realized how weird that sounded... Sorry for that, i am really interested in it though.

I looked at my feed and easily 7 out of the first 10 that I scrolled across. But I went to a liberal Jesuit college prep in San Jose, and then a liberal Boston college.

also I think "rainbow picks" is funny because "pic" is short for "picture" /pedant

Did not notice that...spell check is really annoying sometimes.

Well considering I live in Chicago, and just graduated high school, most of my teenage friends are rainbow. I am rainbow as well. My adult friends (family members, formers teachers, etc) don't have the rainbow, which is interesting.
Yoyoyozo (95 D)

I found it easier to count the number of not rainbows, so out 1071 friends, around 300 don't have the rainbow profile pic. My high school is mainly Catholic and atheist.

On FB I have approx 1300 "friends" (mostly acquaintances - mostly Australia, but maybe 20-30 percent from around the world, ranging from old net-friends to random swing dancing cultists). For a good couple of days, I literally couldn't scroll at all without having a rainbow pic on screen, even on phone where I might only get two statuses at once sometimes. But my FB is full of social justice stuff, so there's pretty strong selection bias there. I'm not rainbow, but not because I'm not celebrating - just not interested in doing it FB's way, especially as Australia doesn't have marriage equality yet.

I'm guessing somewhere between 15-20% of my FB friends have rainbows. I think a lot of my friends are older and just don't care about the rainbow thing, but there are some who definitely aren't celebrating.
thorfi (1023 D)
29 Jun 15 UTC
I would expect that rainbow pics would be fairly clustered on FB, there's a *lot* of selection bias going on, so you're either going to be in a cluster with lots of them, or a cluster with very few. (And that's mostly true of everything. FB is very echo chambery.)

15 out of my 151 friends are rainbow. I live in California.

Jamiet99uk (1307 D)

In my case it was about 50%. I live in the UK, the majority of my friends are slightly younger than me (I'm 34), and I'm very left wing and generally socially progressive, so that will influence my friendship groups.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))

Well over 50% of my friends. But I live by Brighton, LGBT capital of Europe. So.
jbalcorn (429 D)

I have a significant number of rainbow friends, and I'm much older than most of you. But even more friends who don't change their avatar are celebrating.

@thorfi now we know where our right-wingers who are grumbling that they want to move to Canada (which passed equality 10 years ago) really want to go. Australia! Where they can't have their assault weapons...oh.

Jbalcorn: I advise them to come by private boat, to destroy all their identity papers, and seek political asylum under the UNHCR conventions. They will get the treatment they deserve from the Australian Government.
thorfi (1023 D)

I did a quick scroll and percentage count, too many to do a full count, but I think I'm at 50% rainbows (straights and queers) with about 30% of the non rainbows being queer identified.

Radicals vs ?
A recent conversation made me look once more at what i think of politics...

Also i have a clear idea in my head if what a radical is, but what is their opposite? A non-radical? A (small c) conservative? A compromiser?
