What I've Been Saying About Gaza:
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/israel-iron-dome-could-prolong-195600244.html Main quote inside, but essentially--the Iron Dome, which has (thankfully) stopped hundreds of rocket attacks in just a few days now, has taken all pressure off Netanyahu to negotiate, while Hamas arguably stands to gain more from prolonging the conflict--ie, shooting rockets knowing they'll be intercepted and reprisals will come--than by making peace. So, settle in, boys and girls...

what is the average age of webdiplomacy players?
Is there a statistic? I want to know. In a game I felt I was playing with the stubbornness of a child. He/she wanted ALL his way. All the negotiation was "this is mine mine mine". He/she couldn't see the repercussions of a bad decision because he/she wanted the gratification of now.

Seriously, knowing the age of a person before starting a game or a negotiation can help a lot. Psychological speaking.

^^^^ UK General Election 2015 ****
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-28339128
Lib Dems have gone early while Cameron is on the defensive after his re-shuffle. Because of the current coalition of Tories/Liberals there will be a new dynamic to the elections, also the rise of UKIP is a bit of an unknown factor.
NigeeBaby (100 D(G))

Labour should have a healthy lead in the polls but the leader Ed Milliband is not as attractive to women voters as David Cameron and although very intelligent lacks a certain 'X' factor that politicians seem to require nowadays.
I think a lot of the electorate would like someone cuter if they are going to vote, if he is intelligent that is a bonus but not a pre-requisite.
But you can't be smarmy, the electorate hate that, it turns them off.
You need to be likeable and not take yourself too serious and not be scared to tell it how it is ...... step forward Boris Johnson. I think he will be next Conservative Prime Minister, not in 2015 but possibly in 2020.
I can't wait for some political debate on the forum ....... I think I might be standing for my local council as well, although I probably won't get elected. This will be my third time in this borough, I'll be flying the Red Flag over the Town Hall if I get in, I will declare Shefford a Socialist Republic.

A quick summary of what Cameron is trying to achieve with his re-shuffle, probably a bit too little and a bit too late to be taken seriously and just seen as political posturing leading into the General Election in 2015, which of course is exactly what it is.

Ed Miliband is a useless toad. The problem has nothing to do with whether housewives find him attractive while he's fecklessly posing with copies of right-wing tabloids. The problem is that he has no backbone and lacks the ability to stand up to the Tories, partly because he's part of the neo-Thatcherite consensus and actually appears to agree with a lot of their policies. Labour under his leadership have been one of the weakest "opposition" parties in living memory. They didn't even oppose things like the benefit cap or workfare, and they dithered over the "bedroom tax" which even the Lib Dems are now branding a failure.

I applaud you for having the verve and energy to stand for public office yourself, Nigee, and wish you luck. But please have some sense if you want to understand why Ed Miliband is not going to lead Labour to an election landslide.

We may be a long way for the general election and things can change; we might go to war which is always good for the incumbent. Baring a war, I just don't see how the Conservatives can win this election outright.

They failed in their bid to redraw the boundaries to address the bias the system has towards labour. They couldn't win outright less than 2 years after the biggest financial meltdown in history and they have done nothing for the people who didn't vote for them last time. Whilst I think that UKIP will draw vote from all the parties equally, the real effect of UKIP will be that the Tories will look like a divide force. Those fearful f UKIP in their will break ranks with the party line.

Jamie I agree with your assessment of Miliband, his references to Disraeli make me crings ..... I support a working class movement that effects the lives of millions, not the sensitivities of some middle class Liberal that feels sorry for the poor and likes the idea of social justice. He doesn't deserve a landslide I agree and he won't get one.

Norman Baker is a relatively tolerable Lib Dem and I don't think UKIP will surge enough to be a force here. It's always a straight fight between the Lib Dems and Conservatives with Labour getting ~10% around here. I hate Clegg and the Lib Dems for backtracking over university fees though.

Octo, I would love to see all of that stuff again, I have tried googling it but never found it. Those were the halcyon days, the opposition hated me because I ripped it out of them in the council chamber .... oh how I laughed. Apparently some old Loonie Left Member of the Labour Party (who was kicked out of the Party then joined some Independent Liberals) had a dossier on me ..... brilliant stuff, you couldn't make up that shit, he was a funny guy. I nailed that dick time and time again, I showed no mercy. Those were halcyon days.

It was a Labour chap?! I assumed it was from the bitter and twisted wing of the Tories who have suddenly realised their birthright of being the next Prime Minister is never going to happen and was taking out his frustration on whoever happened to be nearby.

He was an ex-Socialist that got kicked out of the Party, that was the scandal back in 1990s, the one you are referring to I think is a loonie Tory (kicked out of the Tory Party and then formed his own party, other nutters joined him) called Janik when I stood again in 2001, he got the dossier on me from the loonie ex-Socialist so he could try and spread some dirt on me ..... it failed, I stood 3 times, won 3 times. I had some fun and I always enjoyed the Loonies, they made me laugh so much, when I get together with my old socialist comrades we still larf about the nutters !!

This is what Labour is up against in the next general election, Ed Miliband has adopted a philosophy that is attributed to a 19th century Conservative, if anyone can explain to me why he is doing this it would be most appreciated because he has lost me.
wikipedia
One-nation conservatism was first conceived by the Conservative British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli,[3] who presented his political philosophy in two novels – Sybil, Or The Two Nations and Coningsby – published in 1845 and 1844 respectively.[4][5] Disraeli's conservatism proposed a paternalistic society with the social classes intact but with the working class receiving support from the establishment. He emphasised the importance of social obligation rather than the individualism that pervaded his society.[3] Disraeli warned that Britain would become divided into two 'nations', of the rich and poor, as a result of increased industrialisation and inequality.[4] Concerned at this division, he supported measures to improve the lives of the people to provide social support and protect the working classes.[3]

Disraeli justified his ideas by his belief in an organic society in which the different classes have natural obligations to one another.[3] He saw society as naturally hierarchical and emphasised the obligation of those at the top to those below. This was based in the feudal concept of noblesse oblige, which asserted that the aristocracy had an obligation to be generous and honourable; to Disraeli, this implied that government should be paternalistic.[4] Unlike the New Right, one-nation conservatism takes a pragmatic and non-ideological approach to politics and accepts the need for flexible policies; one-nation conservatives have often sought compromise with their ideological opponents for the sake of social stability.[6] Disraeli justified his views pragmatically by arguing that, should the ruling class become indifferent to the suffering of the people, society would become unstable and social revolution would become a possibility.[3].

The problem is David Cameron and Boris Johnson have already told us they are one nation Conservatives so Miliband is like the guy who turned up late to the party and told the jokes everyone laughed at earlier, and now no one is laughing and he hasn't quite worked out why...... he's a sweet middle-class lad trying to help out the deserving poor, he would do a better job working part-time at Dr Barnados or helping with the Scouts

BNP Paribas extorted by US government for $9 billion fine
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this.

US crushed French bank even though it violated no international, or bilateral law, simply because trade is done in dollars. This is abuse of power and signifies that the US no longer upholds a free trade system. It will use the fact that trade is done in dollars to destroy people even if they broke no law.
