Did Cameron do this on purpose?
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jun/28/cameron-eu-juncker-defeat-britain-exit

His foreign policy is a total shambles but maybe he did this on purpose to accelerate the Brexit. It takes great strategic planning to bungle something this badly.

Could someone explain to me how to get the derivative of:
(3x^2+6x)/(2x^3+2)^5
So [(3x^2+6x)/(2x^3+2)^5]'=.....
I've missed quite some math classes lately and I need to know how to solve this type of thing (and other things but anyway) for a test tomorrow. I could probably figure it out myself eventually, but I just don't have the time and I have quite a bit more to go through.
Would someone be willing to show me the steps I should take?

Of Kurds and Caliphates
http://news.yahoo.com/netanyahu-calls-jordan-support-kurdish-autonomy-214846630.html The ISIS today declared itself to be an Islamic State...and we'll see how long that lasts, or where that goes...meanwhile, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyau called for support for the Jordanians (gee, I can't imagine why) and independence for Iraq's Kurds. Which is a more likely state to be recognized/come into being/"stick," a Kurdistan (if you will) or this ISIS caliphate? Thoughts?

B.J. Upton powers Braves past Phillies 3-2
Gerald Laird had two hits with a double and RBI for the Braves, who won for the sixth time in seven games though ending their road trip 8-3. Atlanta avenged a three-game sweep by Philadelphia June 16-18 at Turner Field.

Question for the mods:
I note we have some newish stats, like reliability rating. Ilove the idea of this. Is there some way we can set up games with a minimum reliability rating threshhold for participants? That would be a really nice way to filter out the people who join live games and then immediately quit the moment the game does not work out for them.

One great reason to drive a Mercedes...
Roadside service for life... Just saved me a headache and a bill. Had a blowout, made a phone call, 30 minutes later, they are changing my tire and setting up an appointment for tomorrow morning to get the blown one replaced.

@semck, we stormed the beaches of Normandy. Germany never attacked US soil, yet we attacked them. We should never have entered the European theater beyond the lend/lease program.

As far as the cr companies go, it has already been pointed out that Japan uses unfair business practices that we, ourselves, have begun to adopt (bailouts anyone?). Germany does none of that yet still makes some of the nicest (and in the case of Mercedes, most reliable) automobiles that someone who *isn't* a millionaire can afford.

I don't hate the Japanese. I hate Japanese businesses, although I will admit Sony makes the best TVs and most other electronics for the money and am typing on a Sony Vaio Touch right now.

It's just my excuse for calling it Japanese junk. It's really more a habit from my dad who hates that I own a lot of Japanese electronics. He didn't see his dad until he was two and can't let go for real.

Draug, Germany declared war on the US.
Draugnar (0 DX)
28 Jun 14 UTC
I didn't say they didn't. As it happens, our declaration followed theirs by mere hours. It was already in the works and they just got it out first.

But the fact is, they didn't ever attack US land or US civilians. We carpet bombed factories in Germany. They didn't touch a US civilian facility even once.

But I'll reiterate, the Japanese junk line is a throw away from my dad. It's somewhat cultural as well with the common phrase "rice burner" referring to modder's cars.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
28 Jun 14 UTC
It's not cultural. Maybe it runs between two generations of your family, but it's not cultural, and if you think it is, tell us what culture you think you're representing.

Never done an illicit drug in my life. Not even pot. And don't need Viagra (gotta be getting laid to need Viagra). No, I'm a pretty law abiding citizen. Pay my taxes. Normal itemized deductions like mortgage interest (not shoe leather) and don't try to hide income (except cash game winnings which even the casino has no record of as I never use my loyalty card in the poker room).

the germans did attack us first, draug....their U-Boat offensive in the late 30's and early 40's sank tremendous amounts of our supply ships

When I was growing up, Fisher Body was producing Camaros and Firebirds in Norwood and then in Fairfield (where I live now) and Cincinnati in general was very "Buy American" when it came to cars and household appliances (we still have GE Evendale, home of all GE's jet engine manufacturing and are getting the new GE service HQ downtown). So the phrase Japanese junk was common place around town as the city was proud to produce Camaro and Firebird bodies.

"I hate Japanese businesses, although I will admit Sony makes the best TVs and most other electronics for the money and am typing on a Sony Vaio Touch right now."

First off, this statement is inherently ridiculous. Further, Samsung makes far superior TVs compared to Sony.
Draugnar (0 DX)
28 Jun 14 UTC
What part of US soil is a freighter? And those supply ships were headed to Europe and Germany's enemies. Unlike Japan, who attacked Pearl Harbor and sank boats off our own coast, Germany kept to their side of the Atlantic.

But again, it's a moot point. I don't like most Japanese cars because I find them underpowered and lacking. Germany makes a better luxury car than Japan. Benz and BMW are much better than Lexus and Acura. Only the Infinity G coupes interest me out of Japan.
ssorenn (0 DX)

you said soil and or civilians....." Germany kept to their side of the Atlantic." uh wrong
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Maybe there was a "buy American" movement in your younger years, Draug, but considering almost every large industry outsources jobs, that movement is either dead or in the hands of the far-right, who inevitably wreck it even further, as is seemingly in their nature. That's not an option anymore, for the auto industry in particular, where the most American-made cars are made by Toyota and the most imported parts fly in directly to Detroit, where "buy American" is nothing but a giant farce.
Draugnar (0 DX)
28 Jun 14 UTC
@abge - Choice in TVs is personal preference. I prefer Sony. I've had Samsungs that, while feature rich, didn't last 5 years. I still have a great old Sony VEGA 46" flat screen (800 lb picture tube) bought in the mid 90s down in the mancave running strong, never repaired once).

Draug,

If you were a 90 year old WWII vet, your opinion of Japanese products might be excusable. You really aren't that old though, so I suspect you're trying to appear cool to the "greatest generation".
Draugnar (0 DX)

I'll quote myself to get my point across...

"But again, it's a moot point. I don't like most Japanese cars because I find them underpowered and lacking. Germany makes a better luxury car than Japan. Benz and BMW are much better than Lexus and Acura. Only the Infinity G coupes interest me out of Japan."

As far as Germany crossing the Atlantic, enlighten me and not just with words, with references that can be readily confirmed. I'll admit my WWII knowledge is somewhat lacking, so enlighten me.
ssorenn (0 DX)

Both samsung and sony make good tv's

@abge - Unfortunatyely, there isn't many left in my family from that generation: one grandma and one mother in law (she was born in 27 and her husband was born in 23 and was a submariner in WWII).

Let's not get carried away FDR's policy was one of unsolicited hostility towards Germany from 1937 onward, including sanctions, seizures of merchant fleets, and military aid to Allied countries, especially after the Neutrality Act was amended. Whether that was justified is another issue.
Draugnar (0 DX)
28 Jun 14 UTC
Yeah, I hope they don't screw it up. MW is junk compared to Banks.

And for what it's worth, I do tend to shop the sales there. Got my wool top coat for under $300 and my suits, sport coats, slacks, and shirts I buy on the "buy one get two or three free" deals they have a couple times each year.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Justified, I'm not sure, but I sure am glad that his policy worked out the way it did.

Coastal Movement
Normally, when two units make a move to each other's territories, it causes a bounce (Rhur moves to Munich while Munich moves to Rhur). However, would coasts be treated as different territories for fleets? For example, could a fleet in Spain (nc) move to MAO while another fleet in MAO moved to Spain (sc)? Same with Bulgarian coasts and Constantinople. Thanks in advance!

OK, sorry for the delay...and the continued delay--we'll start Midnight tonight. ORWELL! DICKENS! POE! TOLKIEN! Who will advance?

And a bonus question, just for schnicks and giggles--what's the first book you read after high school (or, if it was a while ago, the earliest book you can remember reading after high school?) Just curious to see what we get.
