The poop floor
As I was cleaning my litterbox, I discovered I sat in a pile of cat shit. I got it all over my shorts. When I checked if it did happen, I got it all over my hands. I've washed them 3 times and they still smell like cat shit.

Please advise.

french speaking replacement needed
as i will be absent for the next week and the last week of june and i'm only in one active game, i thought that i might as well look for a replacement player. it's a "speak french only" game though, so you'd have to understand at least a little bit of french.

Shootings and break-ins
So, my brother was there at the SPU school shooting today. Quite literally there... Scared the shit out of me when he wouldn't answer his freaking phone. Either way he's a-ok and that's what matters. My home also got broken into last night.... It's time to get a gun. For those that have one, suggestions?

In non winner-take-all game, can you solo with less than ALL the centers?
I want the solo win (and will have a majority of SCs soon). if I accept the draw once i get the majority, doesnt that mean i lose my solo? But do i really need to hold every single center to get the solo? How do you 'resign' ...so my opponents don't have to sit through the process that could take years?

So in general, I suppose most people here would say you can, and, possibly, should do anything within the rules to increase their chance at winning.

How about, for example, pretending to be terminal, though? Is that still fine?

Drinking healthy
I'm quite a balanced eater, so it's not exactly vital, but apart from water, it seems like almost every drink is unhealthy for your body or teeth in some way. Of course, I could just make sure I vary enough, and I do, but I still think it's good to know what's actually healthy rather than "not that bad".

I absolutely don't have to worry about too much calories, btw. I'm talking about the other stuff.

Stormtrooper/Clonetrooper (one and the same, just a matter of who commands them) vs. Cobra/Joe Commandos (neither one could hit shit except inanimate objects). Discuss.
jmo1121109 (3812 D)

Except in the opening scene of A New Hope when the stormies mow down the rebel soldiers on the ship from a tactically inferior position. After that they couldn't hit anything for the rest of the movies.
Draugnar (0 DX)

The narrow hallways of a blockade runner don't require accuracy, just a continuous barrage of fire. Plus, as we saw in Jedi, Vader can redirect blaster fire and was probably guiding their aim through willpower where as on the death star, he wasn't around until the escape and that was planned by him and Tarkin so they could find the rebel base. Hell, the stormtroopers may well have been under orders to *not* just mow them down. Considering that was the only time we saw stormtroopers in combat in A New Hope outside of the capture of the ambassadorial ship, it is likely they actually were very skilled and under orders to let the Falcon's crew and passengers escape.
Tru Ninja (1016 D(S))
03 Jun 14 UTC
The stormtroopers were supposed to be elites. Seems their accuracy against heroes indicates they can only hit droids. Even Jabba's men shot Luke in the hand (albeit the cyborg hand).

While we can assume the clones were the same as the stormtroopers, there's no evidence to this. In fact, I might argue that this isn't true. 25 years passed from Ep 3 to a New Hope. The original clones would have been beyond fighting age. In addition, we see that the stormtroopers were different sizes and not uniform as the clones were.

Geeking out here, but we do know it wasn't intentional Draug, they wrote a book based on the Death Star escape from the perspective of several of the stormtroopers. It's a good read if you're into novels.

@Tru, again in the novels, and even in Attack of the Clones, they mention that clones age twice as fast as a normal human, that's never reversed, so they aren't just beyond fighting age, they are dead. The clone facilities were destroyed and Stormtroopers are all recruits by the timeline of IV

@pangloss and Randomizer, please keep this thread on the Star Wars topic, thanks.

Well, Splinter of the Mind's Eye was invalidated vy Empire Strikes Back, but it is still the best of the Star Wars novels I have read.
Tru Ninja (1016 D(S))

I've wanted to play SWtoR, but MMOs take sooo much time to be good and I don't like to suck at anything I do.

I read some of the novels with the Yuuzham Vonh and I get the impression the new movies are going to go that way, between talk of Chewey showing up for a 5th film with no talk of anything further, JJ Abrams using Lucas' old sketches for a sequel series and the clear cast for the children of Han and Luke.

@jmo, I may pick up a few SW novels again. I really liked the work of RA Salvatore. Met him once. Supposedly arrogant but I didn't get that vibe.

I heard the "I, Jedi" was supposed to be good. I am extremely limited when it comes to Star Wars novels, thought I have enjoyed quite a few Star Trek book over the years, and found most of those that I have read to be very much "in character" - meaning that when I read about Spock or Picard or whomever I am reading about I can very much picture them.

Is it the same with Star Wars novels?
jmo1121109 (3812 D)
04 Jun 14 UTC
I, Jedi is one of my favorites of the Extended Universe, though if you're looking for somewhere to jump in I'd recommend Heir to the Empire, which is the beginning of a trilogy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heir_to_the_Empire

@Tru, the Yuuzhan Vong books are petty good, though I don't think that is how they will go, I get the feeling Disney is throwing everything out the window and only keeping some of the famous characters. For example I saw a casting release for some younger girl with brownish/red hair who could be either Mara Jade, or more likely Jaina Solo. Considering they said Luke will be taking a mentor role I'm running with the guess that Jacen and Jaina Solo will the in the movie.
jmo1121109 (3812 D)
04 Jun 14 UTC
@Krellin, yes it is, reading is one of my favorite ways to waste time, and I've read my fair share of series. The star wars novels are consistently the most cohesively written set I've come across. The authors all fact check each other and mistakes in the timelines are few and far between so the character development builds novel after novel, as every book follows one story line.
Tru Ninja (1016 D(S))
04 Jun 14 UTC
@jmo: that's more to why I'm thinking Yuuzhan Vong. A press release did say that they would put together a story based on Lucas' notes and the Solo kids and Lukes son play front-roles in the Yuuzhan Vong.

The only reason I can see it NOT being YV is that they're not going to follow a predictable storyline based on current books.
krellin (80 DX)

jmo - my problem is that for years I rejected reading Movie/Tv take-offs - and now there's like twenty billion books and I don't know where to start.

Plus, I'm not a fan of the endless series...trilogy is about enough for me, and I actually prefer single novels sometimes because I want to read a good story and actually have an author capable of wrapping it up in a satisfying manner so that I can move on to the next world created by someone else, if you know what I mean.

But...I'd be down for getting into Star Wars novels, again, if I knew where to start, as opposed to which novels are just pulp trash poorly written to make a buck.

Also...knowing now that the EU has been disavowed, and that the future movies will break from the existing universe, I'm not sure I want to go there. I'm in a bit of a qundry, actually, because all the Star Wars talk (Ep VII) and all that kid of makes me want to indulge in a little Star Wars...

Sigh....

Actually, I just finished Book I of "The Lost Fleet" novels (of which there are a billion....)....but they're not horrible if you are looking for a little space ship battle action. Not horrible does not mean good, though...just means not horrible, and are quick enough reads that I don't feel like I'm too much wasting my time...kind of like watching a Vincent Price horror movie on a Saturday afternoon...acceptable entertainment, but, you know, it's Vincent Price...

Yeah....I"m bored and babbling now. But there's a fuzzy kitten on my lap washing his face, and he's just so darned cute. So, you know...
Draugnar (0 DX)

Lose the Lost Fleet series and pick up Hammer's Slammers. Military SciFi at its pulp finest. May not be Star Wars, but if you want realistic tactics in a future war, it doesn't get any better. Drake knows his strategy and tactics.
