I assumed that this was just a nice topic title... but I'm very happy to take some note to write a decent EoG, and would be glad if others did the same.

Where've you been playing that makes you unused to the webDip map? And for curiosity's sake, what do you think should be improved?

Probably Backstabbr

-map needs to be bigger, as does almost everything on the site, half the screen is out of use on a modern monitor :D
-units should pop out more and should be coloured according to owner (you get used to knowing that if it hasn't got a box then it belongs to the province owner, but that's really unintuitive)
-order arrows should be thicker and stand out more, should have borders so they don't clash so much with the map, and support orders should be drawn in a way that better shows which way they're supporting a unit

Yeah, once you get used to the backstabbr map it's hard to go back to webdip. It's so much prettier.

Yeah, backstabbr's definitely more aesthetic. Especially now that I've learned you can also make it colour provinces, I like it much more than I had in the past.

There's a couple thing I prefer about webDip when compared to backstabbr, though. (Partly because I've played almost exclusively here for seven years.) Mainly, with the colours, it's much easier to distinguish support holds from moves on webDip. Same goes for convoys. Backstabbr doesn't even try to show on the map what the fleet's actually doing. I find it makes it a bit easier to see what's going on when just glancing over the webDip board.

Somewhat unrelated, I've also been wondering about the feasibility of switching webDip's map drawing over to being vector-based? I know almost nothing about our map-drawing code, however.

Now that I'm not playing mafia I'll play another one, any takers?
