Anyone interested in joining a haiku only wilson game? All messages must be only haikus. Should be a fun little twist in the general formula of diplomacy.

Oh, another one? The last one I played was pretty fun, but I don't know if I have the commitment for it right now haha

Hmmmm.

Basically rules would be as follows:

Everything has to be in a haiku, but you can send as many haikus as you want. The exceptions to haikus are only emoticons, links, and punctuation.

If you mess up a haiku, you can't message in global for an hour. You do have to be caught though, so you should also be on the lookout for bad haikus.

We will use https://www.howmanysyllables.com/words/syllable to determine any syllable arguments. You can also shakespeare words with apostrophes, making shorten (2 syllable) into short'n (1 syllable)

I have more questions, but I am lazy to put them into proper form that late at night:
1. Do all the haiku have to follow the 5-7-5 scheme, or is it possible to justify some changes via a broader definition of haiku?
2. Do the debates about proper haiku have to follow the rules, or can I point out someone's flaws without putting my objections into verse?
3. Is the one hour penalty counted from the moment of posting the bad haiku, or is it from the moment of it being agreed upon as such?
4. Is the penalty the same if the message includes no attempt at a haiku at all?
5. If the answer to 4) is yes, isn't an hour too small a penalty? It would be easy to get 10+ messages a day without even trying to haiku or breaking the rules, and that's enough to discuss almost anything.
6. What are the mechanisms for enforcing the penalty?
I apologize if there are too much questions, but those are all I came up with so far.

5: Your right... Maybe we scale it. 1 hour for the first time breaking it, then 2, 4, 8. Maxes out at 8? Some sort of scaling.
6: We can't really enforce penalties I don't think. that's why I'm doing a forum and it's a private game. I'm making sure those who join will follow the 'rules'

Basically yeah, just say whatever as long as it's divided into 5-7-5. Phase length is 1 day 12 hours.

For instance, "Everyone" was used by MoSW:

Determining it... would be difficult in haiku form.

I would suggest the use of parentheses to have a debate about haiku form.

There was a link to a website for determining the number of syllables; "everyone" was considered three syllables there.
As for "who determines", I assume it is reasonable to agree upon a certain algorithm (such as using the website) and utilize it in every case.
