Calling all Aussies and Kiwis - up for a game?

Hi all - I have been in communication with a few of the Aussie and New Zealanders on this site with a view to trying to set up a game where we are all in a similar time zone (and to start a bit of a community of us, given we might not be blessed with quite the same face to face community, at least outside of Melbourne, as our European and North American friends).

Hoping for full press, something like 1.5-2 day phases - if we can get 7 takers for that. If you are interested, please respond to the thread and then we can sort out details, and of course work out a fun title for the game - 'Rumble Down Under' and 'That's Not a Knife' are my suggestions :)

I'm a maybe depending on how much time I have. Definitely in for gunboat, but then timezones wouldn't matter!

I reckon if we're going to do this, (Gunboaters I'm sorry) we should do it properly. So I'd prefer fp. However I get that it's time consuming and somedays you really can't be stuffed. I'd be happy to make it a 3 day phase game - put it on the backburner and play another game in the mean time. And yea November's good for me.
Do we want to do a sign up list to be professional and stuff? :-D

I'm up for a slightly longer phase length if that gets us there (and we try to have people agree to ready retreat/build orders to keep the game moving). I'll send a few private messages to some others and see if I can get us another member or two.

I’m in. 2 days per phase would be cool for me.

Awesome - really looking forward to this! Do others have preferences about things like:
Anon/Non-Anon - I normally play anonymous, but I assume that part of the purpose here is for this to feel more like a group who knows each other so am in favour of non-anon
Unrestricted press vs Rulebook press - tend to favour the former but not too worried
Scoring - Draw size vs Sum of Squares - happy either way

I normally play anonymous, but yea for this I agree non anon.
I don't see the point in rulebook, yes it speeds up minor phases but if ur ready you click ready, easy :-D
And I prefer DS I've grown to prefer it

Agree with Non-Anon. DS is ok, but prefer SoS as it encourages going for the win or drawing at stalemates without mucking about whittling.

This game will probably run beyond Christmas, so just want to confirm we're all comfortable with a long pause around that time. I'm afraid Dip is a very low priority for me, so if people get impatient, best find another 7th.

Happy to agree up front that I would pause (or draw with some Christmas spirit!) if we get to the Christmas break - assuming you have not eliminated me before then of course!

I would prefer
Non-anon, DSS, unrestricted press (I'll try have better press this game Leon xx)
but honestly I don't really mind. A break around Christmas could be nice.

I'll play whatever rules you want, no more than 48 hr phases, forced Draw midnight Christmas Eve. SoS is better but DSS Ok too

Any last bids on SoS or DSS - I assume we just go majority preference? Nephthys - do you still want to start in November or if we have everyone organised are you up for starting next week?

I like the concept, but I'd be more interested if it would mean a shorter turn time rather than longer. (Such as a live game that doesn't start at 3am!)

I also wonder why SkiingCougar wants a name change? Such an evocative name. What next? Maybe SurfingCougar?

I'd normally be up for this, but as I'm on about 7 weeks holiday and won't be in Australia during that time, it kind of defeats the purpose. That said, a second game sometime after New Years would be good.
