Mafia 48: SIGN UP THREAD
GM: ND
Co-GM: Dargorygel
--------
Citizens of Rome! The mighty Colosseum awaits you where all fight for blood and glory! On this day, we reach back to hallowed antiquity and draw our swords for Caesar or in an effort to topple him! For, once there was a dream that was Rome and perhaps that dream will be realized.
------
Special Mechanic:
*Challenge*
A challenge is a unique ability shared among three roles. There are a total of four challenges that can be declared in a game. Each time a challenge is declared all players can only vote for one of the two players selected for the challenge. Due to this having ramifications, challenges will last a period of 24 hours that are hard-set during the day phase. Period #1 (Hours 0-24), Period #2 (Hours 24-48). If a challenge is completed in the first 24 hours then the remainder of the day phase reverts to a normal phase where anyone can vote for anyone, et al. If a challenge is declared in the latter half of the phase then that will consume the normal EOD.
In all cases (except Proximo) the player issuing the challenge has to directly compete against the player they selected.
Roles:
Mafia (5x):
Mafia Judge: Night Kill immune. Scans as Mafia. Has a 1x ‘Thumbs Up’ and a 1x ‘Thumbs Down’. Once per game, the Emperor may show clemency to the leading wagon. If that wagon is lynched then the player will survive via a ‘Thumbs Up’ resulting in no deaths. Once per game, the Emperor may be vengeful and choose to give a ‘Thumbs Down’ to any wagon besides the leading wagon. That wagon will be lynched instead of the leading wagon. Only able to use the ‘Thumbs Up’ during a challenge, not the ‘Thumbs Down’, and cannot use this ability on themselves. Wins with Mafia.
Deathproof Gladiator: If the Deathproof Gladiator is lynched or killed via a night killing action the Deathproof Gladiator will survive (one use only/automatically used). Furthermore, the Deathproof Gladiator can challenge another player to combat once per game. If they fail their deathproof ability is used up. If they are successful then the mafia team gains an extra night kill they can use at their discretion. If the Deathproof Gladiator challenges Proximo then their challenge is expended without refund. Scans as TOWN. Wins with Mafia.
Mafia Jailer: During the day, the Mafia Jailer may imprison a player and prevent them from carrying out a role action at night. Once per game, the Mafia Jailer may stab a prisoner causing them to die at the end of the subsequent day phase. The stab occurs while the prisoner is imprisoned at night. While imprisoned, the player is immune from night killing actions except the stab. Player knows they were stabbed. Scans as Mafia. Wins with Mafia.
Encryptor: Allows the Mafia to talk during the day. Scans as Mafia. Wins with Mafia.
Mafia Goon: Wins with Mafia. Scans as Mafia.
TOWN:
Reward Gladiator: Night Kill immune, but can be stabbed while imprisoned. The Reward Gladiator has (2x) challenges and may challenge another player to a duel twice per game. If the Gladiator fails; the Gladiator dies. If the Gladiator succeeds in the challenge, but the opponent is town aligned then the Gladiator loses their night immunity. If the Gladiator succeeds in the challenge and the opponent if mafia then the Gladiator gains a 1x night or day kill. If the player dueled is the Emperor then the Gladiator gains 2x Night or Day kills. The Gladiator can challenge any player except Proximo. If the Gladiator challenges Proximo then 1 of their 2x Challenges will be expended without refund. May only issue one challenge per day. Scans as Town. Wins with Town.
Roleblocker: The roleblocker may target another player twice per game. If successful they are unable to perform a night action. Scans as MAFIA, but wins with TOWN.
Bodyguard: Each day, the Bodyguard may select another player to protect. The Bodyguard will protect from a day targeted imprisonment or a night killing action. If the Bodyguard targets a player who is targeted for imprisonment then the Bodyguard is imprisoned instead; furthermore the Bodyguard will kill the Jailer if the Jailer attempts to stab him resulting in both dead (Jailer dies immediately, but Bodyguard will die at the end of the subsequent phase from the stab). If the Bodyguard is just imprisoned then he will be ‘roleblocked’ only. The Jailer will be told their imprisonment was successful and will not know if the Bodyguard switched or not. If the Bodyguard targets a player who is targeted by a night killing action then the Bodyguard will kill whoever targeted that player unless it is the Deathproof Gladiator or the Emperor. The Bodyguard will die to the Deathproof and the Deathproof will lose their ability but remain alive; and the player targeted will know they were targeted but survive. The Bodyguard and Emperor will both remain alive, and the target will live while knowing they were targeted. If the Bodyguard, himself, is targeted by an action and has not self-targeted then the Bodyguard will die and the Mafia member will not be killed. The Bodyguard can self-target or target to protect without restriction. Scans as Town. Wins with Town.
Lazy Cop: The Lazy Cop may select a player at night. And attempts to determine if the player is a member of the royal court or not. -Royal Court (Mafia) or Not Royal Court (Town/Third Party)- results will be delayed by a day. Wins with Town.
Adrenaline Gladiator: If targeted by a Night Killing action, the Adrenaline Gladiator will instead survive until the end of the following NIGHT PHASE. If lynched, the Adrenaline Gladiator will instead survive until the end of the following DAY PHASE. Furthermore, the Adrenaline Gladiator has a 1x challenge that may be used once per game. The Adrenaline Gladiator may challenge any player except Proximo or the Emperor. If they target either then their 1x challenge will be expended without refund.
Lesser Gladiator: You may vote for who you believe to be mafia each phase. You win with the Town and scan as Town.
Third Party
Survivor: Begins the game with a 1x Night Immunity which is spent automatically at the end of Night 1. Each night, the survivor may bet on what faction he thinks will be lynched the next day (town, mafia, no one). If he is successful then the survivor will be granted night immunity for the next night. He may also place a secondary bet on a challenge (town wins, mafia wins, no one wins). If he is successful on the outcome of the challenge then the survivor gains the ability to send a message of any length privately to another player via the GM either during the day or night. Can still be stabbed while imprisoned. If the survivor is challenged by another player then the player who issues the challenge will be told privately it failed. The Survivor will gain the ability to issue a challenge, but instead of competing directly he compels two players of his choice to fight for his amusement. The Survivor can win with either the Mafia or Town, but must be alive at the end. Scans as Town.
