To clarify, I am taking this to mean something produced by the BBC (I guess they have multiple channels under their umbrella - I'm not British, so I don't know all of the details).

I like this idea. I asked if the character was male to weed this out. Almost all of the doctor's companions have been female... The only notable exception being Rory, though he was tied to a female character that held much more significance.

The show in which this character first appeared is primarily comedic in nature. I personally find it to be very funny.
