Hoorah, I'm having a very good New Year's Eve, with the bonus of a face to face Diplomacy game tomorrow, the Russell G Memorial Diplomacy Tournament.
Russell was a top chap, enthusiastic consumer of wines & was one of a group of about 8-10 Diplomacy game players in those halcyon days, decades ago when we played Diplomacy as a board game using kerosine lamps at night before electricity was widespread to dwellings.
Manos & Juris haven't replied to many invitation messages, but the hard core four, George the silver wolf, John, out no~nonsense Australian of German ethicity, his dear old dad served das U boats in WW2 & survived, then emigrated to Sunny Australia, Darren, well he's a proper scallywag & myself, free from the loving attention of my Adorable Fire Breathing MemSahib Her Serene Imperiousness Indoors lying on a sofa eating cakes.
We're going to have a quick game first where Russell has, postumously Italy ( Russell was buried Catholic style) & we 3 take turns for him, stab everyone else & Russell wins (postumously) with 21/22 scs.
Then it'll be four players & all out War in following games.

Russell G Memorial Diplomacy Tournament.. Darren was a mysterious no show, but John bought Manos along so we had a cracker of a day playing Diplomacy. We played a series of four player games picking one country each and having three random nuetral countries & a few where one player randomly gets England and the other players get two countries each, there's a standard pairing.which we played once, then we had randomly drawn pairs for two games.
All quick "friendly' games. We do need extra, new players... We've agreed to have games at Easter and next New Year's Day. Maybe​ Xi JenPing will send us a couple of his spies in Australia to make seven players ???
