Re: 52 Dead in Israel/Palestine Clashes

It's a battle worth celebrating. A glorious win for the Pope over the French, fought by Kings of England in the middle of Ireland. But as much as it was a pivotal moment in history, the people who mark it have the same sort of emotional connection as your average Brit celebrating bonfire night. It ...

Re: 52 Dead in Israel/Palestine Clashes

How many generations of Chinese occupation of Oklahoma would it take before you gave up on it? Speaking from my personal experience, after 200 years such events are remembered but not really any differently to any other detail of history. It wasn't an issue for my grandfather either. I think that o...

Re: [RESOLVED] Muting threads

Jmo's upset because there's a pattern on this site of villainizing people that put in development time. He's not an admin anymore, he just dedicates a huge amount of his own time to helping us and Zultar accomplish what we ask him to. If he does something you don't like, direct the hate at us. Lord...

Re: [RESOLVED] Muting threads

Why would anyone play Diplomacy? Oct, if political discussion dies off, I'm open to revisiting the discussion. We are legitimately going to be more lenient in moderation of that subforum, and to my eye it seems like this hasn't caused a drop in participation there. People can still find it quite ea...

Re: [RESOLVED] Muting threads

C'mon, ghug, the forum hasn't been anything like the wild west for years, and nor do the forum rules allow anything remotely like that to return. To be honest I can't see any practical difference between the politics rules and the wider forum rules. This isn't about reviving the forum glory days, t...

And they've gone again...
You can thank JamesYanik's Palestine thread for reminding ghug. That thread wasn't for discussion, it was for trolling (e.g. like the Palestinian == Nazi propaganda BS).

Re: Anonymous Changes and Online Indicators

Will I be able to tell the difference between someone not entering orders and someone not readying orders?

Will it be possible to tell if you are the last person remaining to enter orders? If I know I may be holding up the game I may ready immediately. If not I may stew on my orders some more.

Re: Iran Deal

Why can Iran not have nuclear weapons, when Israel, Pakistan and India can? Because they already have them...and Israel and Pakistan are long-term allies of the USA (India too more recently). Iran is a competitor for influence in the region and whilst nuclear weapons are largely for defence (i.e. t...

Re: Iran Deal

In case it frightens away new members. Politics is top shelf material and has to be hidden away from innocent eyes. Imagine the potential fallout if someone saw a snippet of a conversation that might challenge their opinion? Far better that they only see mafia threads, spam adverts, and those threa...

Re: Iran Deal

In the past two decades Iran has had two moderate presidents - first Khatami, now Rouhani. Khatami was making a genuine effort to try and improve relations with the US...but he was "thrown under the bus" by Bush with his "Axis Of Evil" speech. What happened soon after that? - we got a crazy hardline...

Re: Muting threads

Since we are now willing to hide threads, could we potentially get the Mafia game thread(s) off the front page too? When the game is happening, they are always at the top. It isn't very interesting to anyone who isn't playing. It appears you just want everything hidden. What threads *do* you wish t...

Re: Muting threads

It is great that "Politics" is off the front page by default. If people really want to talk politics here (there are already plenty of other places for political discussion on the web) they will find it.

Re: It started with a kiss...

I guess it depends, doesn't it? If you move in slowly giving the person time to react, then that is OK. If you reach out and hold their head in a vice-like grip whilst you move in for a kiss it is probably not OK. :P I don't know why there are only two possible options - something is either "left" o...

Re: Yet another needless mass shooting

It is not about whataboutism. It is about showing a consistent approach to balancing individual freedoms with public safety. It makes no sense at all to highlight a single aspect of risk and restrict it to the nth degree whilst maintaining a light touch elsewhere, for no reason other than you have ...

Re: Yet another needless mass shooting

Pretty much all of you are idiots. The 2nd amendment was created to stop a tyrannical government (which the USA currently has) from buttfucking the people. It "seems" like the population wants no guns because, guess what and no fucking surprise, the media is controlled by the bad guys. The NRA is n...

Re: Yet another needless mass shooting

You also created a nice strawman there too by suggesting that I was arguing that bringing in UK style gun laws to the US would suddenly change the US into the UK. I suggested no such thing. I love that logic! So if strong gun laws can only prevent 98% of gun related deaths (USA - 11.96 per 100K, UK...

Why so? Has another country ever won the Superbowl? I thought not. USA USA USA How can Yuropoors even compete? EDIT: Ok, ok, I can hear their complaints now. "You stupid American! Only American teams get to compete in the Super Bowl!" Two points: (1) No you are the stupid one for living in Eurostan...
