19 Dec 11 UTC [Europe]:Oh, and Sarg, don't make me regret having your back.
19 Dec 11 UTC [Europe]:And if either End Now or Play On gets 9 votes, then that vote has been reached. It is a clear majority, 9 voyes.
19 Dec 11 UTC [Ghana]:End Now
19 Dec 11 UTC [Europe]:EN - 2
PO - 1
19 Dec 11 UTC [Brazil]:EN-3
PA-1
19 Dec 11 UTC [Quebec]:This is our preference irrelevant of our 'votes' at the bottom right?

EN-3
PO-2
19 Dec 11 UTC [Russia]:Play On
19 Dec 11 UTC [Near-East]:EN - 3 (near-east, europe, ghana)
PO - 3 (russia, quebec, kenya)
19 Dec 11 UTC [Near-East]:correction:
EN - 4 (near-east, brazil, europe, ghana)
PO - 3 (russia, quebec, kenya)
19 Dec 11 UTC [Kenya]:You missed Brazil's vote to EN
19 Dec 11 UTC [Kenya]:Ah, never mind
19 Dec 11 UTC [Libya]:I would like to cancel or draw, but well, you can see that in the votes.
19 Dec 11 UTC [Near-East]:Libya: yeah, votes are quite clear, even though some players still do not think that players actually mean their votes, anyway, the new summary is:
EN - 5 (libya, near-east, brazil, europe, ghana)
PO - 3 (russia, quebec, kenya)
19 Dec 11 UTC [Pacific-Russia]:end
19 Dec 11 UTC [Libya]:All players have cancer or draw or both. all? no...
19 Dec 11 UTC [Near-East]:EN - 6 (pacrus, libya, near-east, brazil, europe, ghana)
PO - 3 (russia, quebec, kenya)
19 Dec 11 UTC [Frozen-Antarctica]:It is either cancel or play on for me.
19 Dec 11 UTC [Europe]:But which do you prefer, FA?
19 Dec 11 UTC [Europe]:FA=FK, but interestingly my typo still worked.
19 Dec 11 UTC [Europe]:So after several days to think about it, I feel I do owe Babak an apology. I believe he honestly had the best itnerests of the game in mind when he did what he did. Were they the right actions? Not necessarily, but they were done with the best intent, and not ill will towards Sarg. My own actions were done with ill will, however, and that was uncalled for on my part. So Babak. This is a formal apology for the use of the language and for calling you a metagamer. I'm sorry. My actions were uncalled for and only made everything worse. Please accept this apology in the spirit it is intended.
19 Dec 11 UTC [Frozen-Antarctica]:don't care. One or the other. I'll go with the majority.
19 Dec 11 UTC [Europe]:Grrrrrrrrrr. Please cast a vote or we could end up at 8 and 8 and this will have been for naught.
19 Dec 11 UTC [China]:I'll be support holding all my units again this turn and will do until the last remaining person stops being selfish.
19 Dec 11 UTC [China]:I don't agree with having another vote as I doubt Macchiavelli will keep his word but for what it's worth, End Now.
19 Dec 11 UTC [Europe]:EN - 7 (pacrus, libya, near-east, brazil, europe, ghana, china)
PO - 3 (russia, quebec, kenya)
19 Dec 11 UTC [China]:Making it:

END NOW - 8 (pacrus, libya, near-east, brazil, europe, ghana, china, frozen antarctica)
Play on - 3 (russia, quebec, kenya)
19 Dec 11 UTC [Europe]:fortknox never officially declared he wanted it to end or continue. He has stayed with the "whatever everyone else wants" line, in part I think, because he is a mod and doesn't want any preceived influence on the game. So I'd keep it at the 7 to 3 vote right now.
19 Dec 11 UTC [China]:Oh ok, I read him saying 'I'll go with the majority'. There is a clear majority both in your vote and in the actual in-game vote.
19 Dec 11 UTC [China]:(but I understand)
19 Dec 11 UTC [Europe]:Well, there isn't a clear majority in the >50% sense yet and I don't want this vote tainted. If we can show 9 people want this to end outright, then there can be no argument that the majority truly want it done and thos ewho say they'll go with the majority won't be able to quibble or pick nits.
19 Dec 11 UTC [Ghana]:Well, I got f*ed this past turn. Near East decided he didn't want to move, and Europe told me he wasn't going to move so we stopped talking about details so I got screwed there as well. This is bullshit.
19 Dec 11 UTC [South-Africa]:it's bullshit that someone tells you what they are going to do and then do something different? huh...imagine that. ;)
19 Dec 11 UTC [South-Africa]:oh and for the record - EN!
19 Dec 11 UTC [Ghana]:To me, falsely threatening to quit is outside the scope of the game, in the same way that I think that threatening to flip the board is not a valid tactic in face to face.
19 Dec 11 UTC [Near-East]:EN - 8 (south africa, pacrus, libya, near-east, brazil, europe, ghana, china)
PO - 3 (russia, quebec, kenya)
19 Dec 11 UTC [Europe]:END NOW - 8 (pacrus, libya, near-east, brazil, europe, ghana, china, south africa)
Play on - 3 (russia, quebec, kenya)

One more absolute End Now vote and we have a clear majority.
19 Dec 11 UTC [Near-East]:Why I do beleive cancel (or draw until we all are in play) is the solution.

There was a clear interference and mistake made by Babak and the mods. Than it was followed by changed orders, changed behaviours and loss of spirit and faith. And so on ... we all know.

Why I think it's a good solution to cancel (or draw), because:
with closing this game early we would not just show fair play to everyone on the site, and in this game, but it would also send a strong message and create a very good precedent, when mods make a mistake than players can and do correct them taking some of the responsibility.

I think with a cancel we would not just save our, the mods' and the site's dignity and show humility towards the game, but we could erase all the bad feelings we just got, and open the route to restart this game as early as january.

Otherwise I fear we make so big and long lasting wounds for the site, the mods, the game and for eachother, that we may have never be able (not in the near future) to put a game like this together.

The purpose of finishing this game, in my view, is much more about the site, the game itself and their future, than about gameid 73678.
19 Dec 11 UTC [Europe]:roka +73678
19 Dec 11 UTC [USA]:Folks, I reiterate - this game should be cancelled. It simply is a travesty that we are continuing given the circumstances. I fail to understand the logic of a continuance. Please, let cooler heads prevail, and all cancel!
19 Dec 11 UTC [Near-East]:END NOW - 9 (pacrus, libya, near-east, brazil, europe, ghana, china, south africa, usa)
Play on - 3 (russia, quebec, kenya)

Macchiavelli, you just got your majority ...
20 Dec 11 UTC [Europe]:Fortknox and Macchiavelli - Please draw now. It is just you two.
20 Dec 11 UTC [Near-East]:Macchiavelli, it's just up to you now ...
20 Dec 11 UTC [Oz]:Time to put on the Drive soundtrack.
20 Dec 11 UTC [Europe]:Macc is clearly not a person whose word you can trust. Although that isn't surprising in this game. Can all his neighbors please crush him while the rest of us hold/support hold each other and ourselves? Then the draw will happen the monent a line goes through his name.
21 Dec 11 UTC [Russia]:Woo hoo! The game continues!
21 Dec 11 UTC [Argentina]:I'm glad this game was a Draw rather than a Cancel, if for no other reason than it can serve as a warning for what NOT to do. Be seeing you, jerks -- and I say that lovingly.
21 Dec 11 UTC [Oz]:Well, that was awkward.
21 Dec 11 UTC [Argentina]::D
21 Dec 11 UTC [India]:Well folks, wasn't that fun! Hope all your first time world game players enjoyed your experience and got a taste of world game fun! I really wish people wouldn't quit the site over what's pretty typical for a world game, but hey, that's your prerogative. Look forward to playing with all of you, besides the 3 or 4 of you who've sworn to quit webdiplomacy over 1 game, in the future. Happy holidays to everyone.
21 Dec 11 UTC [China]:Look forward to playing you again too - glad we can put this wreck behind us.
