05 Oct 20 UTC GG!
05 Oct 20 UTC GG all. Congrats Russia & Austria.
Germany: You would have defeated me, if Russia hadn't attacked you in 1907. (So thank you, Russia!)
05 Oct 20 UTC GG!
05 Oct 20 UTC good game all, I don't think I've been so thoroughly eviscerated before. I thought I had the upper hand when I got into burgundy but I trusted russia for too long
05 Oct 20 UTC Germany, you left your backside just a little too vulnerable, and I couldn’t resist. To be honest, if France hadn’t snuck into Belgium in 1906, forcing you to disband F Denmark, I’m not sure if I would’ve stabbed. With Turkey almost defeated, I knew I had to look somewhere for expansion. Germany was just a little too open for me to say no!
05 Oct 20 UTC yeah france getting into belgium was where I realized that things were about to get ugly. I was talking about this game with a buddy and I recall saying "I am about to push my trust in russia beyond what is reasonable" as I deleted denmark. After that I did notice (this was dumb of me not to notice before) that you were at a complete impasse in the south, and then I realized that you would send everything you had at me but I wouldn't have enough time to readjust and defend. All in all, I played horribly after we polished off england so I did not deserve to stay in the draw, so oh well
06 Oct 20 UTC I seriously expected Austria to stab Russia when I was gone... nice alliance! I didn't have much of a chance this game, but that's how it is sometimes
06 Oct 20 UTC I must be honest and say that I thought about it multiple times. But the turn I was thinking about it the most was also the turn Russia stabbed Germany. And knowing that France would profit and be able to build more fleets I didn't think it would work.
I did take Munich to get a center ahead of the stalemate line, but the situation afterwards was such that if I attempted a solo, Munich would fall within a turn or two.
So I just took the threeway draw. :)
07 Oct 20 UTC I was hoping that by stabbing Germany before Turkey was eliminated that I could ensure enough builds to offset an Austrian attack. I hoped that my opportune strike would dissuade Austria from attacking! I didn't consider the impact of charging up France though in Austria's decision-making.

With the attack on Germany going well, I was hoping I could get into position to solo. With Austria grabbing Munich and not retreating in the Balkans, there wasn't much of an opening left. All I could do was hope that Austria and France would go to war, but no such luck! Getting into a three-way draw as Russia is a win in my book lol.
07 Oct 20 UTC I was definitely shocked that austria/russia stayed allied for the whole game. I expected one to turn on the other multiple times... which might have helped me against france.
07 Oct 20 UTC Perhaps the reason was also that we counted our blessings just because we had a chance to get into the draw as Russia and Austria in a gunboat game. That doesnt happen fairly often, especially when they are attacked by Italy and Turkey in Spring 01
