03 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1994: Gl all
03 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1994: I'm trapped in the middle, but promise to make a nice pasta dinner for anyone who wants to be my ally.
03 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1994: The Kremlin sends greetings to you all, and hopes to develop profitable and mutually beneficial relationships in the coming years!
03 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1994: Where's my free iPod Pro?
03 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1994: Poland, let's be friends. You down? I propose, DMZs Prussia and Silesia, you get one free claim on Czechia redeemable whenever you feel like it.
03 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1994: Italy, France, I recognize that we are all rather in a pickle. Who wants to make first claims on SCs? We can start by splitting things evenly, see how things progress from there. Maybe friendship is just around the corner.
03 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1994: Britain, you're my last neighbour, but certainly not my least. May I ask what your intentions are for opening?
03 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1994: Uh, I didn't realized the "public messaging only" bit
03 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1994: Turkey, let's be friends an avoid early misunderstandings
03 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1994: Also, Italy has done pretty well in most games of this I’ve seen, so you’ll probably have an easier start than many...
03 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1994: (Sorry, thought I’d sent that earlier and then found it waiting to be sent)
03 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1994: In normal variant, Italy almost always starts slow, but if you can stick around it's possible to grow fast midgame. In this variant it's almost the opposite. Can often get big fast, but then draw too much attention and your neighbors team up on you.
03 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1994: You know, I’ve just realised that Russia gets absolutely no uncontested centres in this variant. Everyone else gets at least one.

...So Turkey, if I can have Georgia, I promise not to go further south? ;D
03 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1994: Russia is brutal in this game, early at least. You still have corner position though..
03 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1994: Russia I think is one of the most unfortunate starts. No SCs that you can take on your own, Rostov which is cut off from your main bulk, two fleets that are split up, four SCs bordering each other. Yikes.
03 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1994: What I'll never understand is the reason behind Spain and Egypt starting with only 3 SCs
03 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1994: And Poland..
03 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1994: True
03 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1994: Isn’t it based on population? I’m pretty sure I remember the creator writing that technically Iran should have been a power but that it would have meant having to expand the map further east than he wanted to.
03 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1994: Spain has more population than Ukraine, if that's the reason seems weird
