Game drawn
11 Aug 20 UTC Spring, 1910: I'm still open to a draw, guys
12 Aug 20 UTC Autumn, 1910: All I ask is that you let the Frenchmen up in Clyde live there peacefully
12 Aug 20 UTC Autumn, 1910: As a person originally from the Clyde area, I say no to any Frenchmen there!
12 Aug 20 UTC Autumn, 1910: Please I beg you. They are a calm people, who just want to live
13 Aug 20 UTC Autumn, 1910: It looks like the French are staying in Clyde. And Iceland.
13 Aug 20 UTC Autumn, 1910: I do very much want them to be safe now. A nice little camp out there would be very cute.
13 Aug 20 UTC Autumn, 1910: The French have Clyde and Gascony, the Turks have Syria, and the Italians have Tuscany. Only the English are left without a home.
13 Aug 20 UTC Autumn, 1910: Hey uh could the french get some humanitarian aid?

I'll send you my venmo
13 Aug 20 UTC Autumn, 1910: The German's will send cheese and wine. Fortunately, many of the agricultural areas of your homeland have been spared the worst ravages of the war.
13 Aug 20 UTC Autumn, 1910: What to build, what to build....
13 Aug 20 UTC My draw vote is in.
13 Aug 20 UTC This has been a very enjoyable game, and I am inordinately proud of the 12 points I was able to pull from it.

France and England did an excellent job in press in the first year of disguising their intentions and duping me into some poor moves. I had to work my ass off for the next few years to recover. In my desperation, I even quoted scripture to France. More surprisingly, it seemed effective!

I would have been doomed if not for Russia and Austria coming to my aid repeatedly. Both were excellent allies.

All in all, you are all lovely people, and I'd be happy to play with any of you again.
13 Aug 20 UTC Just curious, why go for a draw and not try and just win?
13 Aug 20 UTC As in like, what's stopping you and Austria from teaming up against Russia and racing for 18?
13 Aug 20 UTC In part, gratitude to Russia and Austria prevents me from trying to solo. I generally try to solo when possible, but sometimes when allies prove exceptionally loyal or helpful, I am happy to draw with them.

From a strategic perspective, any nation that tries to bolt for the solo risks being ganged up on by the other two. That creates the possibility for another nation to have an opening for a solo. As we stand now, things are relatively well balanced, so a solo doesn't seem particularly likely.
13 Aug 20 UTC Exactly for the reason Germany has mentioned, I ditched the idea of of a solo the very next moment it had crossed my mind. The board would have been totally destabilised, I would have been devastated by both other powers, and one of them would have tried for a solo. I believe Germany and Russia were fully aware of that too. On the other hand, two-way draws are extremely risky.
13 Aug 20 UTC Okay, my only take away was that scripture was quoted and it was extremely effective? Thanks for adding another tool in my kit!
13 Aug 20 UTC Sunday school skills will finally be used!
13 Aug 20 UTC We can make another game, an anon one, and try to finish unfinished businesses from this game. I promise I would try for solo ;-)
13 Aug 20 UTC What part of scripture was cited? Maybe I'll use it next time.
13 Aug 20 UTC But also, thank you everyone. You're all lovely players, so thank you so much for the experience.

I confess that I have a soft spot for the underdog after getting ganged up in on a previous game, and after the good faith that Germany and Austria had shown me, it would've been gauche to go for a stab earlier. It's been a therapeutic game, lol.

France and England had me sweating for sure, ha. And I'm still rather sorry for the stab there b/c y'all played *well*.
13 Aug 20 UTC Yes, please divulge your secrets, Germany!
Ah, an anon game! I def wouldn't mind that. No comm would mean no heart-string tugging, haha.
13 Aug 20 UTC An anon game would conceal the players' identity, but press would be still available. The condition is though that you don't reveal your identity ;-)
13 Aug 20 UTC The context is, I was threatening France that I would throw the game to Russia if he didn't back away from our border. France replied that he did not negotiate with terrorists. Then the following exchange occurred:

Spring 1904 - Germany: Terrorism or not, I’ll take a Pyrrhic victory over a defeat every time. No weapon forged against me shall prosper.

Spring 1904 - France: Fuck it, you know what, you get to live simple as that.

Then, France withdrew from Ruhr in Spring 1904.

The "no weapon forged against me shall prosper" bit is a loose paraphrase of Isiah 54:17.
13 Aug 20 UTC Spring 04 really turned the tides for me. I thought we were in a good position to attack Germany.
13 Aug 20 UTC Good game everyone!
13 Aug 20 UTC That's why you don't negotiate with Terrorists
13 Aug 20 UTC I'm down for an anon game
13 Aug 20 UTC Ha!

I'm down for an anonymous game as well.
13 Aug 20 UTC I'll know to look out for bible scripture and terrorists in that anon game now.
There's someone else that I met in another game I can ask to join too (since they're also quite great) if there are missing spaces.
13 Aug 20 UTC I went ahead and set it up. The link is below. The game is called Compiegne 2, and the password is compiegne.

It's anonymous and I raised the bet to 10 points, but otherwise the settings are the same as this game.
13 Aug 20 UTC Alright I'm in
14 Aug 20 UTC I'm in!
14 Aug 20 UTC Great, thanks Germany! I’m in another game already, and usually don’t play more than one game at a time, but for this game I’m going to make an exception.
14 Aug 20 UTC Oops, my RR is too low to join lol.
14 Aug 20 UTC I was relocating and missed two turns, dropped to 70s. I can ask the mods to lower the threshold, if you can accept an unreliable, pathetic bugger like me.
14 Aug 20 UTC Ofc we want you. Come, come. Join the circus!
14 Aug 20 UTC Sorry, 80% was the default. It doesn’t seem like I can change it now without just recreating the game. Let me know if the mods can assist, and if not I’ll recreate it and post here.

Also, it looks like we might have an extra spot, so if anyone wants to invite a friend that would help.
14 Aug 20 UTC I've invited a friend already, but we might need more *shrug* unsure just yet!
14 Aug 20 UTC I've managed to convince a mod to alter the threshold. It's all my fault, as you should never allow yourself to miss a turn.
14 Aug 20 UTC First game I ever played with strangers, I didn't realize the game started and I missed the first 2 turns lol
14 Aug 20 UTC My very first game I forgot about for three days which resulted in the only 'resigned' I've got, the stain which I've been carrying for years.
And I'm in!
14 Aug 20 UTC Just one more position left!
@Eng/Italy/Turkey if anybody wants it. Otherwise, perhaps we need to find another?
14 Aug 20 UTC I might know one good player. I'll see if he wants to join
14 Aug 20 UTC We did it! The game is live.
14 Aug 20 UTC hahah. You clearly do not want us to think you are Russia Turkey or Italy, but maybe you are psychologically reversing us to think are one of them. hmm
15 Aug 20 UTC I can't wait for the end game unmasking - Scooby Doo style.
15 Aug 20 UTC You might meet one former victim of your gang bang. Question is: who am I in the new game?
15 Aug 20 UTC You are a joy, Turkey. I am so delighted by this development, hahahahah
16 Aug 20 UTC And then we are also in another new game together, Russia. Hahaha
