11 Jul 20 UTC Spring, 1901: Not an auspicious start.
11 Jul 20 UTC Spring, 1901: I'm putting in a vote to pause

16 Jul 20 UTC Autumn, 1902: Anybody looking for a new Germany? Well here I am. I see this game has had a few delays. Lets hope we can now keep it moving on a fresh pace. Let me catch up on my press and make some introductions, and I'll ready my orders.
16 Jul 20 UTC Autumn, 1902: Welcome!
22 Jul 20 UTC Autumn, 1904: Thanks for the game, Russia.
23 Jul 20 UTC Spring, 1905: *grumble
23 Jul 20 UTC Spring, 1905: Gg
26 Jul 20 UTC Autumn, 1906: I always get anxious when its 1 hour to end of phase and "at least 1 country still needs to enter orders!"
29 Jul 20 UTC Its looking like a solo is very unlikely. I am voting "Draw". My vote will remain up until just before the end of this year. Then it will come down. If you think the current score is a fair outcome, I encourage you to vote "Draw" also.

If there is no draw, you may be able to steal a few centres from each other (such as Rome), or you may lose some or even be eliminated.
29 Jul 20 UTC Wonder why Turkey is not voting draw. Who do you think he is hoping to steal centres off of?
29 Jul 20 UTC Me possibly, but by that time your offer will be gone...
29 Jul 20 UTC I suspect Turkey just hasn't seen the chat yet.
29 Jul 20 UTC I just saw the press, and am happy to draw. Sorry folks, I started a new job last week and it’s been hectic!
29 Jul 20 UTC GG all!
29 Jul 20 UTC gg everyone
29 Jul 20 UTC Very enjoyable game. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened next:
a) Ser was about to attack Rum with support from Bud and Sev (assuming Austria wasn't lying to me);
b) I assume Turkey was about to attack Ser again;
c) I was hoping Austria and Turkey would not combine to stab me in Vie;
d) would Turkey have taken Rom or left it for England?
e) I was about to retake Pie from Tyr with support from Ven (again assuming Austria did not turn on me and tap Ven);
f) I was going to double support Nor so England couldn't have got anywhere this turn, but if he took BAR it would have made me sweat a bit;
g) could I have taken down a combined England+France with my 5 fleets?

All questions we'll never know the answers to.

Thanks for the great game everybody!
29 Jul 20 UTC a) - yes.
c) - no - Italy and Turkey was traitors - I don't like such kind of players.
Congrats for Germany - he can do solo, but let all of you to have some points.
29 Jul 20 UTC could*
29 Jul 20 UTC Thanks man. You were a great ally.
29 Jul 20 UTC I appreciate the draw. With unswerving Austrian support, I have no doubt that Germany would have solo'd. By the end France and I were just delaying the inevitable.
Interesting but frustrating game. I never really got going. I had a deal with the second Germany so they were picking up centres at first and I was to catch up later. I let them persuade me to turn on France rather than going for Russia which was my first plan. When the third Germany took over they were always ahead of me and my 'catch-up' centres never materialised.
The failure to take Brest in 05 was disappointing but I made a monumental mistake in Spring 06 by thinking I had another year before Germany stabbed me and I could finally gain some French centres and get a build or two to defend the islands.
After that France took the mature position to ally with me to hold Germany back, even though I'd been attacking them. And some sneaky moves let us hold Germany up to ensure they didn't have it all their own way.
In the end I don't know whether we ground down Germany's will to win by stubborn defence or whether Germany just did the decent thing and let us have the draw.
29 Jul 20 UTC Honestly, if I knew then what I know now (that Austria was with me to the end) I would have gone for the solo. But I was afraid that Austria would ally with Turkey or France and that would have really screwed up my plan.

Also, I figured with SOS scoring, I was happy with my 25 points. If it was DSS and I only got 6 points, I would have gone on.

But I'm happy with the game and that's the important thing.

PS: England, for that turn when you gave me the unwanted support into Swe when I was going to be bouncing Nor and StP into Swe, how did you know that was what I was going to do? My thinking was I wanted to take Nor in an Autumn turn, so you couldn't retreat into Fin without disbanding elsewhere, so I wanted to create a self-bounce to prevent you from escaping into Fin. I just don't know how you could have anticipated that. It was like magic!
29 Jul 20 UTC I definitely should have stopped gunning for Italy much earlier and focused on heading north into Russia to stop German expansion. I had planned on leaving Rome to England, but was considering moving Naples into Rome just to bounce against a potential move from Venice into Rome.
29 Jul 20 UTC And I'm fully willing to admit that I burned all bridges with Austria and their frustration with me is totally justified. I'm not usually that much of a backstabber; it didn't feel good!
29 Jul 20 UTC The key moment when I knew a draw was on the cards was when Turkey built a fleet in Ank. I had a plan to deal with that (by letting Austria take Rum), but again that was based on Austria not stabbing me (which was always a possibility, although he stayed true to the end).
29 Jul 20 UTC Germany. You had a noticeable habit of bouncing two units to leave a centre free. That's why I guessed I could support you to Finland. Unfortunately it didn't happen again in Belgium.
29 Jul 20 UTC Yes Turkey, I originally burned bridges with Austria as the original plan was for Russia to destroy Turkey with Austria and then join forces with me to destroy Austria (my thinking was it would not have worked as what’s to stop Russia stabbing me?) and so from year 1, i teamed up with Turkey to fight Russia-Austria, then Turkey decided to not go for Germany and Austria but instead take me on (which ultimately would have assisted a Germany solo
29 Jul 20 UTC Yeah, that was a misplay on my part. In my defense, I was worried that openly attacking Germany would result in me getting steamrolled!
