18 Jun 20 UTC Spring, 1901: This is my first GvI game; I'm used to FvA. Good luck!
18 Jun 20 UTC Autumn, 1901: this is my first as well. Im used to Cold war
20 Jun 20 UTC Autumn, 1903: i have a feeling this isnt the most balanced of maps
20 Jun 20 UTC Autumn, 1903: Do you mean pro-Italy or against? The one guide I've read on GvI says Italy is favoured.
21 Jun 20 UTC Autumn, 1903: i havent read it but i think Germany is the better one here
23 Jun 20 UTC Autumn, 1905: Oh dear. I made a dreadful mis-click error.
24 Jun 20 UTC What happened there, you conceded?

Good game. Here is a link to the article I told you about:
Look under the first Italian opening.

If you do think this map is unbalanced, I'd be happy to set up another game with you taking the opposite sides. I'd set up a private game and meet you there. If we happen to get the same countries again, we'll just cancel the game until we get what we want. Then we'll play the game the other way around and see what happens.

Let me know if you're interested.
25 Jun 20 UTC i am quite interested, but i dont think webdip interface is for me. Im used to using the interactive feature in vdip to input orders faster, so i think i'll head back there. Not to mention that there are more maps there
25 Jun 20 UTC thanks man
25 Jun 20 UTC i read the article, and while it is true that you cant contest the balkans, it seems that its not needed. Galicia, Vienna and Tyrolia are good spots to prevent Italy from coming to Russia and surrounding you. Not to mention fear of losing to Wes med and other shenanigans. It really felt like i have to make the major guesses and win them all, while you have consistent builds and a good foothold. It is my first game so my opinion may be inaccurate but thats what i felt like
25 Jun 20 UTC It was my first game too, so I'm no expert either. I thought you made a few tactical errors, mainly in giving up the West so easily. The turn I said I made a misclick was an Autumn turn. You had A(Pie), F(LYO) and F(WMS). I intended to move A(Mun)>Bur so that I could support Mar AND make Mun available for a build, but I erred and left Mun there. You could have attacked Spa from WMS to cut its support for Mar, and used LYO and Pie to take Mar. But you attacked MAO instead which was doomed to fail without support. Next turn I had Bur there to support Mar and the opportunity was lost.

Also, in the East, you kept attacking Mos from Sev. You could have attacked from Ukr, with support from Sev, and I wouldn't have been able to cut support. This would have given you Mos. Yes you would have lost Ukr, but you would have had that surrounded from Mos, Sev and Rum.

Even at the end, you could have taken Mar if you used Spa to do it, as I couldn't cut support from Pie or LYO. You would have lost Spa but gained Mar and had an army to threaten Gas and Bur and my entire western flank.

But it was an entertaining and challenging game and I thank you for it.
25 Jun 20 UTC indeed. Some lapses in judgement and all that. Might not play this variant ever again, but thanks for the insight
