05 Jul 20 UTC Thanks for the game
05 Jul 20 UTC Well played on the solo Turkey. Obviosuly we could and should have easily formed the stailmate line.

England, that was a very frustrating finish, undoubtedly Germany and I will have been a bit annoyed there I'm afraid. This should have been an easy 4-way draw. From Autumn 1908 (at the latest) we all (Germany, France, England) should have been aware of the Turkish solo threat (one should always be wary of Turkey anyway in gunboat).

At Autmn 1910, you should have switched focus entirely towards forming a stailmate line (notice how Germany and I reposition our units here). From that point, attacking Germany was pointless and only helped Turkey. Crucially, you should have noticed that I needed your support to hold MAO. So you shouldn't have vacated the Channel in Spring 1911, but it was criminal not to move back there for Autumn that same year. With support from the Channel, Turkey could never break through our line. In the North, all that was needed was to hold St Pete from Norway (St Pete can never be taken from the South if defended from the North).

This is pretty basic stuff - a solo should rarely happen in gunboat, if the remaining players switch focus to forming a stailmate line at the right time. Other players on this site would have slaughtered you in the chat after this game, but there's nothing to be gained from that.
05 Jul 20 UTC Basically, when one power is getting close to 18, stop attacking everyone else and focus on stopping them from soloing - which means forming a stailmate line. Continuing to attack Germany in this case led to them throwing the game to Turkey at the end (despite Turkey breaking through in the South regardless), because Gemamy lose the incentive to stop the solo if they will not end up in the draw anyway. Please don't take these criticisms to heart - continue to learn and improve and enjoy the game.
05 Jul 20 UTC This is my third time playing so still figuring it out and i realized when i got to Moscow how strong turkey actually was. Thank you for the help.
05 Jul 20 UTC That was a hard contest with Italy for some years.

I was never hoping to get the solo and was getting ready for a draw.

France: I would have expected you to be more aggressive in the south, at least try to get into western med once. In spring 1910, why the move from MAO to Brest and not bouncing me in Western Med?
05 Jul 20 UTC Gg turk. Learning to play for a draw is crucial in both gunboat and classic, but especially gunboat. Live and learn.
05 Jul 20 UTC No problem at all. We were all new to the game once. Good luck in your future games.
05 Jul 20 UTC @Turkey, I did consider that, and yes it would have probably been the better move. But it would just have temporarily delayed you rather than stopped you. I thought the 4-way draw was a given at that point, so ultimately didn't really see the need to venture further south. I was also happy to let you finish off Italy without intervention (sorry Italy), assuming England and Germany would stop fighting soon.
05 Jul 20 UTC And by the way, @Italy, I strongly recommend against attacking Austria in 1901. It rarely works well in the long-term for either of you.
06 Jul 20 UTC For sure was a hard fought contest between us. Well done turkey you were a valiant enemy
06 Jul 20 UTC @france, definitely you are right about the attack on austria in 1901 but it worked for me...for a little while but definitely was lucky that austria was eaten up by turkey and I right away
