24 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1902: lol first off, you sent that message at 3:21am my time. So it's pretty tough to ready up when I'm asleep. Second, in a game this fast, you need every minute for press to be exchanged (especially considering global time zones).

It's not a live game, it's ok for 8 hours a phase.
24 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 1903: ACTIVE PLAYERS ONLY
24 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 1903: xD 24 hours a day! Only Diplomacy!

If that were the case, we'd be playing a live game.
24 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 1903: Straw-man?
I'm specifically talking about having your orders completed but leaving them not readied up.
24 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 1903: maybe because we are actually not ready? having ordered completed does not mean you are ready.
24 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 1903: Absolutely, I input orders that I suspect I'll take, but then I have some messages I've sent out to various players and don't know how they'll respond, so I wait before readying so I have time to read and adjust orders.

It's a cooperative game based on communication. If you want to jump in, read and send no messages, ready up and then jump out, go play gunboat.
24 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 1903: I've agreed with England on basically fuck all during this game so far, but I have to say - he's right about this ^^
24 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 1903: What does active players only mean then?
24 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 1903: And yeah the game has nothing to do with etiquette.
24 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 1903: Active means you will be ready and able to submit moves at least once every 8 hours. Hence the phase length. Which so far, everyone but your predecessor has been able to do!

For the short phase length and 0 excused turns, I'd say this has been an incredibly active game so far. I know it has been in the press I've been able to exchange.

Solid experience overall!
24 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 1903: Does it just mean "Please don't bail" ?
24 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 1903: It does!
24 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 1903: Okay then I'll treat it like that. Screw readying up.
24 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 1903: Well, like all games, you are welcome to use whatever etiquette you like for readying or saving games. Trying to shame people into playing the same way you do, without recognizing that people have very different real life circumstances, is bad form.
25 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 1903: I've just realized, if you tell your boss that you've recently made a big purchase, that means you'll need your job more than normal and your boss will be more likely to ask more from you.
But that could be bad or good depending on if it's possible to get a promotion?
Because then you could use that to say "I've been doing more around here lately so I deserve a raise"

25 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1903: XD
26 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 1904: GameMaster: Game was extended due to at least 1 member failing to enter orders and having an excused missed turn available. This has un-readied all orders.
26 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1904: YAWWWWWNNNN
26 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1904: Before moves happen again, from a gamesmanship standpoint, I think we should recognize the play by France this far. France has now reached (as of now) 9 SCs, and none of which was acquired by "bumping" out another unit. Very impressive and something you probably do not see everyday. Well done France.
26 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1904: Absolutely. And on top of that, they're still insisting that they are the 'victim' in the breakdown of our alliance. Gotta hand it to 'em! Top class. :)
26 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1904: Really, Germany? Remember this conversation from earlier today:

Germany: You're very mean, France! I could have had a three-build opening, but I gave Belgium to you in exchange for alliance. You promptly stabbed me. I am sad.

France: That was several turns ago now.

Sounds like I'm not the bitter one here or the one claiming victimhood :P
26 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1904: It's all in fun :)
26 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1904: I'm with you :D
26 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1904: Germany trying to earn points by giving France Bel when he promptly moved to Bur xD

You don't stab someone while helping them get builds they need to defend against you.

Also, Russia, you've done an excellent job in directing everyone's attention towards France and away from your conquest of Austria, Germany, and soon the north. All while boxing Turkey into a slog through the Med!

Well done as well.
26 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1904: "You don't stab someone while helping them get builds they need to defend against you."

Thanks for finally agreeing with me! This is what I've been saying all along ^^
26 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1904: Be careful not to bolster Russia's ego too much by using the word "conquest" to describe their actions :D

Overall this has been one of the more enjoyable diplomacy games I've been part of. Let's keep it up!
26 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1904: Odd for you to be saying that while being the first one to do it lol
26 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1904: I'm nearly out but this has been LOADS of fun - thanks to everybody !
26 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1904: Yeah, fun press, active players. Always a good time!
26 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1904: GG Germany.
The play for me should have been to kill austria with turkey and russia, then for me to kill turkey with russia.
But then I wouldn't have met such a fucking bro as yourself. <3
Our schemes together were great. I say we die to Russia so he can kill england and that back stabbing slut france in the long run.
England, you were always the target. >3> My only regret is never getting to fight you.
Turkey you were pretty neutral, so screw you.
Russia you were friendly, I believe you'd look me in the eyes and hold me like a baby bird as you shot me repeatedly with a minigun.
27 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1904: Wow, that's pretty incendiary language to use in an online board game. I'm sorry your feelings are so hurt, Italy. Hopefully you have better games in the future.
27 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1904: GameMaster: Game was extended due to at least 1 member failing to enter orders and having an excused missed turn available. This has un-readied all orders.
27 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1904: Alright, a 4th Italy! I think we all get 1 free SC anywhere on that map, right? Like a bonus?
27 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1904: This Italy talked a big game about active players only and responded to messages, and then the coward ran from the game as soon as it turned on him.

Bummer there aren't more people with class who will finish out tough games.
27 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1904: Are you pleased *I'M* still here, England....? ;)
27 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1904: I'm thrilled that you're a good sport about your defeat!
28 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 1905: GameMaster: Game was extended due to at least 1 member failing to enter orders and having an excused missed turn available. This has un-readied all orders.
28 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 1905: Oh, shit! Sorry guys, my bad
29 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1905: The question on everyone's mind really comes down to if we are going to have a fifth Italy before this is all said and done.
29 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1905: What happens if nobody joins?
29 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1905: It inputs hold orders for all Italy's moves and the phase advances.

But that's unlikely. I've VERY rarely seen an open slot last 8 hours. Even one as terrible as his position lol.
30 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1907: I'LL SEE YOU IN HELL, ENGLAND!!!
30 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1907: True, but I outlived the Kaiser! haha
30 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1907: My days my be numbered, but this French player is so unimaginative as to keep going to ENG when I can easily block him that I might be able to hold out another year or two.

Also, Russia pulled a move that *I* usually make sure to do called "Forgetting about retreats" lol
30 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1907: England: Our student exchange program is working out nicely. I hope your students visiting St. P are enjoying the Russian winter. Our Russian students are currently enjoying the Scotland countryside.
30 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1907: Loch Ness is beautiful this time of year! Unfortunately, our students are having a rough time of it. You know, frost bite, blistering isolation, and oppressive communism and all. So they're going to hop on the first boat out of there!
30 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1907: People always talk about communism in this game when discussing Russia... Soviet Union didn't begin until 1923! Imperial Russia was the name of the game in this period.
01 May 20 UTC Great job all
02 May 20 UTC Good fun everyone, I'll get y'all next time.
