08 Apr 20 UTC Yeah gg. Seemed like a very tough fight to reach 18 for any of us.

Well done Russia for staying alive. And Italy, u owe one ;-)

Sorry Turkey for the initial challenges. Also sorry Germany, but u were to secret with ur plans, so both France and I got suspicious.

England, if only we could have fought together :)

And France, well done. We actually started of with an agreement, yet we both knew it wouldn’t last.

Gg all.
08 Apr 20 UTC I was so mad when you stabbed Germany. Felt like all hopes of a solo were gone then, and I was hoping you’d stab Italy first, but very well done.

Of course I still tried and had units parked around Italy just in case I didn’t need him to stop you. But if I stabbed Italy you’d grab centers before I could. Funny enough, I think Italy was the only person I didn’t stab and we were at war. Well I guess Turkey too haha

Oh and thanks to both Germany and England for the throws. England, I have no idea why you did after I stabbed you so early but you really had it out for Germany. And Germany, sorry I couldn’t keep you alive. I gambled on Russia’s moves
08 Apr 20 UTC My intentions was never to stab Italy. Would actually have loved seeing a game won by the two countries almost always first out of the game. Old Italy was with me on that, but new Italy weren't that convinced. Should have taken him out when Turkey were completely open.

But my message was pretty clear, I didn't wanna stab Italy before you stabbed Germany - and that worked - well, after I did the stab on Germany too, you had to go for the grabs and avoid me overrunning him :-)

Very good game, I enjoyed it. But recently won a game with Italy, would have loved to do the same with Austria. Well, thats for another time then :-)
08 Apr 20 UTC I try to talk about the maximum amount that won't be annoying, so if I come off as secretive it's because you're not talking to me either.

Tbh, I've still never seen a Germany get anywhere close to a solo in any of the games I've played. It just doesn't seem to be a thing in the current meta.
08 Apr 20 UTC I’ve been away from the site for a while but a couple of years ago I played this as Italy where Germany went solo: https://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=199505#gamePanel

France CD’ed once but everyone else fought it through.

And this one as Turkey where it ended almost with Germany going solo: https://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=192472#gamePanel

It can be done :-)
09 Apr 20 UTC Germany can certainly solo. Generally, you need to control everything from Moscow to Portugal.
09 Apr 20 UTC It CAN happen, but I've seen multiple Italy and Austria solos, but zero Germany solos in the games I've played. Seems like it's less common.
09 Apr 20 UTC Austria is a swingy country. Solos yes, but also many, many, many eliminations.

From recollection France is the most common country to get a solo.

You needed to stab me when you were in a stronger position, not when France had already taken all of England.
09 Apr 20 UTC I just needed to grow a lot more in general. France only took anything from me after Austria went for the stab and pushed it hard.

France was in a really good position to go solo in this game, if you hadn't helped Austria also grow so fast.
09 Apr 20 UTC Austria went for the stab the turn after you invaded Warsaw. He was never really your friend, he just took an opportunity to divide us and break our stalemate line.

I allied with Austria because it kept me in the game and I knew that I was more useful to him than a German ally because my Northern fleets would always be useful against France.
09 Apr 20 UTC And as for me, I played jn both sides to maintain the balance between France and Austria. I should not have attacked Austria, that was a mistake. But I felt like if I did not do what France wanted, I was going to lose my bases, and Austria would take the rest. So I played both sides and somehow got in the draw.
