16 Jul 19 UTC GG weird one
16 Jul 19 UTC gg
16 Jul 19 UTC When italy and austria fought each other instead of stopping you I got SUPER panicky, because I wasn't beating england nearly fast enough lol
sort of considered trying to stab russia to make it a 2wd but he'd helped against england and almost always would have chance to throw it to turkey for the solo

(also i usually suck hard as france so a 3wd is very nice for me :P )
16 Jul 19 UTC GG, all.
I had thought that Italy, Austria and I would slow Turkey's growth rate enough that you (France) would be the solo threat so I was hunkering down on the southern side of the St.Peters.-Portugal stalemate line.
We did not get it done to say the least, and England was tough... fought hatd to the end. (a tip of the hat to England), so I scrambled to the north side as fast as my little webDip legs could carry me.
16 Jul 19 UTC Thanks everybody for playing!
16 Jul 19 UTC Yah definitely a hat tip to England that was a HARD elimination to pull off
16 Jul 19 UTC Austria please never play like that again
16 Jul 19 UTC Just for the record turkey, I got tired of Austria repeatedly being selfish and fucking over a very easy Austrian Italy alliance (bc he's unable to read orders) and decided to just t make sure he lost. Gg
16 Jul 19 UTC Not once did he ever support another player. He literally thought, as Austria in gunboat he could attack everyone around him and never do anything else and be successful
16 Jul 19 UTC Hmm, after Greece, that you went in Austria enabled me to do something...
16 Jul 19 UTC France, great fight to you too. I got rid of Germany too easily and was kinda hoping no one would attack the other. I should have been more careful in the early stages.

Russia, I think that at some point you should have realized that I was not a threat, and not accelerate my fall (especially supporting France to Norway). By doing that you help France get to 18: not a great plan. Despite that, I chose to keep fighting France and not defend against you. Result: you take Sweden and Norway from me, I'm out of the draw. I think it was an unjust result, because under slightly different circumstances it would have not been hard for France and Turkey to eliminate you. Small players in the endgame need to stick together and not do the war of the poor.

Italy, Turkey and Austria, I didn't need to follow much what happened down there. But I think Austria played badly. Attacking Russia right after Turkey attacks you and has just destroyed Italy? Makes no sense
16 Jul 19 UTC fwiw I thought England played well, it just happened to not work out. Turkey got strong almost right at the worst time, soon enough that "let's all stop France" wasn't going to be a thing, but slow enough that I could keep trying to destroy England without throwing the solo to Turkey (but BOY did I worry about that for a while, particularly as Italy and Austria both collapsed). I think in the end I probably got a bit lucky to be able to whittle down to 3wd, though I suppose if I'd avoided being greedy for Silesia and just support held Munich the prior turn, England dies and then it's an earlier 3wd. DEFINITELY was guessing wrong there lol
16 Jul 19 UTC England, thank you for your comments.

I most certainly did try to tip the tide against you and in France's favor. And yes, admittedly, it was risky, as I could not control whether France would be able to pierce the NE/SW stalemate line or not, but if you had won the fight with France, being already established in Germany, I honestly think that you would most likely have solo'd, or at the least that I would have been crushed between yourself and Turkey at some point.

Taking Sweden near the end was motivated by self-preservation, not malice. I'm sorry a more deserving player (you) was eliminated, but I'm frankly very happy to have gotten a draw in this one.
16 Jul 19 UTC @Turkey I knew iw as giving you the south. I did it on purpose. I went greece, tried to convince italy to help me against you, he refused, and then tried to attack me (go abck and look at him move to venice the minute i left it unoccupied). That is when I got fed up with him and made sure he lost
16 Jul 19 UTC when italy gets into greece in a gunboat, that is the ideal time for austria to help italy continue towards turkey, even for austria's own benefit (because, if im in bulgaria, he can have greece), he's just a very bad austria player who literally doesn't know how to play gunboat
16 Jul 19 UTC I was staggered that England would even go for me tbh. France is always the big threat in GB and I think his fate was sealed the moment he attacked me - France was never going to just let england grow, so I made a conscious choice to hold the French line. No different to Austria/Italy shitfight.
16 Jul 19 UTC I suspect part of it was that I'd had a pretty solid defensive front against England and had gone out of my way not to attack him over multiple years (mainly b/c I figured Germany was the true threat, particularly in terms of pieces on the board).
I suspect that if England went all out against Russia, he gets eaten up by Germany; if he goes all out against France, he gets eaten up by Germany; if he attacks Germany he instead gets eaten up by France. I think by like 1904, maybe even 1903, he was in a fairly precarious spot despite his good center count.
I think I agree that in 1905, with the German navy destroyed, he's better off making peace, holding the Scandinavian gains at Den/STP, and trying to cycle back to the west to take care of me before I can take advantage of his over-extended lines. If he defeats me, he can always cycle back and knock out Germany later, and if he doesn't defeat me, whatever happens in the east doesn't much matter.
16 Jul 19 UTC That's what I was referring to - I kept expecting him to back off so I could help contain you, while he pivoted but he never did.
16 Jul 19 UTC That's WebDip though.
16 Jul 19 UTC I think part of it was that I *DID* spend quite a while waiting for a really good chance to stab, and very possibly that inculcated some trust (I feel like a lot of his earlier moves suggested paranoia - Lon-Wal in spring 1903; Wal-Lon in fall 1903; Lon-Wal AGAIN in fall 1904; Wal-Lon in fall 1905 too). I suspect a good # of France's stab in 1903 or 1904 or even 1905 (I suppose a convoy to Wales in fall 1905 might have been powerful, but that also gives England an extra build which is bad for me) before the situation is really ripe for a stronger stab.
16 Jul 19 UTC Also it's possible that the fact that I sort of blundered my way through 1902-3 against you might have encouraged England to think that I'd blow the fight against him should push come to shove.
17 Jul 19 UTC Well played.
17 Jul 19 UTC Thanks! :)
