11 Mar 19 UTC Speaking more generally, in this league Italy has been meeting with greater and greater success now that our metagame favors Italy making early attacks on France instead of Austria. That's my personal recommendation and this game is a pretty good demonstration of how Italy can do very well without ever attacking Austria.

Dan, you definitely played well enough for a solo win to be in the cards for you; it just so happened that I was playing Germany and I had a pretty strong sense of what I needed to do to block you from breaking into my centers. Sam played a really good game as Italy, knowing that I needed to be left alone to prevent an Austrian solo win (similarly I knew not to attack you Sam for the same reason)

Going back to the early game, I had a pretty good opportunity to all-out attack Russia, but I chickened out because I had a read on England that England wanted to attack me. Paul, you started support-holding France and Russia, which I could only possibly interpret as an intention to break out alliance (the point of England-Germany alliance is to destroy Russia and France)
11 Mar 19 UTC I was thinking of going for the solo a couple of years back (spring 09) when England got pushed out out of MAO and North sea. I thought he'd retreat to Edi and EC, and be able to cover both home centers, denying a German build. If I built fleet Venice then, Italy would have had to turn around to defend, taking some pressure off of England. When the retreats didn't happen I thought it best to keep up the German attack, but that didn't work out.
11 Mar 19 UTC I think you played a very good game and you could have solod if me or Italy made a mistake
12 Mar 19 UTC That was a fun one. Blake and I hand an early let’s see how this plays out truce. DaddyO you really pushed me into having to trust Germany and make some solid moves at the end. I was worried you would build that ship in Trieste.
