28 Dec 18 UTC Spring, 1906: https://imgur.com/a/2NMSc3L
28 Dec 18 UTC Spring, 1906: Turkey is definitely not aggressive. Turkey definitely does not stab people.

Only France, clearly
28 Dec 18 UTC Spring, 1906: (also my draw vote is in!)
28 Dec 18 UTC Spring, 1906: My draw vote is already in for ages
28 Dec 18 UTC Spring, 1906: It's probably England, they're not very active.
28 Dec 18 UTC Spring, 1906: Just to be sure, my vote is in as well.
29 Dec 18 UTC Please could we file a pause vote for Russia? Considering we're running at one day a phase, it's likely they're busy during the festive season. They haven't been replying to press.
29 Dec 18 UTC Maybe he just don't want to talk to you?
29 Dec 18 UTC But my pause vote is in!
29 Dec 18 UTC Haha maybe Italy.

Thanks for the pause vote Turkey!

I believed it was 50% of players required for the pause to go through, but that doesn't seem to be the case?
29 Dec 18 UTC I emailed the mods about it, it would be appreciated if others do too. This may well be the last phase of the game, as Russia has been inactive so likely is the missing draw voter. Would be a shame to see an NMR this late.
29 Dec 18 UTC Everyone needs to vote pause to pause the game
29 Dec 18 UTC Ah okay, I am used to vdiplomacy where an extend vote only requires half the board.

I will send another email if we still have "at least 1 country still needs to etc" showing in a couple others
29 Dec 18 UTC Would be great if someone else sent an email too!
29 Dec 18 UTC Please could someone else email a mod? Still yet to receive orders.
30 Dec 18 UTC Good game all.

France I honestly think you still had a solo shot there.

But maybe too hard to work with Russia in the end?

Anyone else want to chat about how this Gaza me turned out?
30 Dec 18 UTC Gaza?
30 Dec 18 UTC I cant believe italy survived
30 Dec 18 UTC *how this game turned out.
30 Dec 18 UTC Oh it is interesting to hear the conversation from turkey and france. You two both negotaited very well
30 Dec 18 UTC This game was unbearable. I am new to this site, and am a very experienced face to face player. It makes me wonder if I should bother playing here.

Unless I can get games with 7 players all on at least Austria's and Turkey's level, this is pointless

Of course I still had a solo shot. But I shouldn't. Russia was unbearable to work with, if I could I would ban them. The refusal to talk to me when we had a common opponent was straight up pathetic.

As for Italy and England, it's clear they're foreign and were both so incredibly gullible and easy to exploit my progression felt cheap. I think they should improve in some lower level games than 210 pot games.

I did not play well enough to get such a lead. Germany is not a bad player, the missed phase kind of screwed them up though.

Turkey, Austria and Germany, where can I find higher level games? This game was pretty awful.
30 Dec 18 UTC Thank you for letting me survive this game!
30 Dec 18 UTC No problem, Italy. I felt quite bad for you. But you and England, please heed my advice and practise with some less aggressive diplomats in lower level games.

Russia, you just need to actually conduct diplomacy rather than move blind.
30 Dec 18 UTC Everyone else made a good showing of themselves, and I would be keen to play games with 6 other players of that level. I don't know where to find them here though
30 Dec 18 UTC Moderator: (Claesar): On the forum :-)
30 Dec 18 UTC Thank you for the compliments. This was a very frustrating game. I literally told Germany and Italy what to say and to whom to form the central alliance, but to no avail.

I did learn a lot, though, mostly from France. One point: I am a "foreigner" as well...

Turkey and France, if you are in for another game, I will gladly start one.
30 Dec 18 UTC I am down for that Germany. It would be great if we could try a forum organised one again so we get some higher quality. I'm sure Turkey will be happy too.

I am actually foreign as well, Austria/Baskinelli. I've just got good enough English to conduct diplomacy, like yourself clearly. I did not mean the "foreigner" statement offensively for the sake of one being a "foreigner" being inherently unable to play well.
30 Dec 18 UTC I don't think Germany played inherently badly, Germany should have allied with Russia from the start of the game after I gave up on Russia and chose England. It's unfortunate Russia was so erratic and untalkative. A real shame
30 Dec 18 UTC I am happy with how I played, notably the two moves to Rome - the first when I swiped Rome and Venice from under Italy and Austria with help of Turkey, and the second when I allowed myself to shuffle Tyrrhenian to Naples to Apulia.

But my main takeaway from this game was frustration, but I am glad to see it was shared so there may be a higher quality forum organised game in future.
30 Dec 18 UTC Also for future Austrias. S1901 F-tri hold will be read as a sign of weakness among most experienced players. Actually this is the case with any s1901 hold except Venice and Smyrna

Newer players should learn standard openings and usually stick to them- they are standard because they offer flexibility in tactics and diplomacy — (italy your opening angered France for no good reason I could see).

Anyone who doesn’t talk much to me in 1901-3 is probably off the preferred allies list unless I’m desperate. If you are a neighbor and don’t talk I’ll assume you are likely to attack me (or that I should attack you because you’re not going to be helpful if we aren’t communicating)...

If you think you have an ally early game but that person is talking about how you might stab them much more than ways to help you grow that alliance is likely in trouble.
30 Dec 18 UTC Yea i didnt talk much. France and turkeu are most talkative. For turkey, i still dont quite get the ratiomale of stabbong me. I already told you my moves and france is leading when you stab me. For france, very good writing, but from his sc lead i cant really fight turkeu to let you win solo.
30 Dec 18 UTC France as you get more points you can try to get into some of the high roller games. Those are usually better quality. That and organizing on the forum with known players is a good way to get better games.

I think you'll find that a good number of the people who use the site are from other parts of the world. There's a map somewhere that shows where pretty much everyone is from, its pretty cool. Somewhere on the forum.
30 Dec 18 UTC Russia I think I stabbed you 2 times and I think both times it was because of our negotiations

1st time I offer Dmz in bla (maybe I’m lying, haven’t decided yet ;). You counter bounce in bla Dmz in arm. Ok that what the alliance might want but you are unfriendly about it. I ask for something in return for Dmz since you have asked to determine all my movement essentially. I was waiting to hear “I’ll support you into ser” or something else specific that would help me. You misread this as a threat and offer gal to Austria with no negotiations. Functionally, you are acting to help Austria and now my choice is clear.

2nd “stab” - you tell me you are taking bud and vie when France has effectively closed off the med. And after you’d taken none of the risks to crack austria the first place. So I’m sticking to other italy. Also it’s fun to see how people can underestimate a small power with motivation to survive when most of the rest of the players barely message.

Italy is in vie and helping me hold off France, who has already gotten a 3 build phase and has a lot of armies past the main stalemate line very early in the game.
30 Dec 18 UTC So the second stab was an easy choice. But dipllmatically counterproductive.
30 Dec 18 UTC Essentially France moves south so quickly with no repercussions that it pushed me to fight Russia also. Good read of the other players on Frances part. England allowed this to happen as well

And Germany you should have told France you were moving bel-bur in an arranged bounce to safwgua d Munich. That would have opened wwveyinthing for you despite your nmr
30 Dec 18 UTC Yes i had motivation to survive, it does always make me sad when a loosing player goes into CD because he does not want to play anymore because he is loosing
30 Dec 18 UTC I Wanna play again with You guys. Up for it?
Good game!
30 Dec 18 UTC I do not think you want me to play again with all of you, so i'm not
31 Dec 18 UTC I do
31 Dec 18 UTC Fun When everyone changes country and Can take New roles
31 Dec 18 UTC Thats the beauty of this game. Change your Style
31 Dec 18 UTC Yea turkey i understand that, but an angry russua player, if stabbed twicr, may very well give the game to france. And i asked for dmz in gal with austria in spring but he took gal, so i cant go run on fall 01. I didnt give gal to austria intentionally
31 Dec 18 UTC @England, if you really want me, then i will play
01 Jan 19 UTC Yes! All of us
01 Jan 19 UTC I’d do gunboat with no press 24 hrs. Otherwise maybe in 2 weeks or so. 24 hr press games are too fast I feel. 36-50 hrs much better
01 Jan 19 UTC I'm open to both!
01 Jan 19 UTC I'll happily do gunboat but with low bets. Pulling Russia or Austria in gunboat and having people bounce you out of Sweden etc is in instaloss with no diplomacy to work around.
01 Jan 19 UTC Bets of 30 are for people with many points to play around, I think 5 or 10 is much more appropriate for this level of gunboat.

I'd be excited, anyone want to set up a game?
