31 Jul 18 UTC Oops I hit draw before Germany was technically eliminated
31 Jul 18 UTC err I mean I let Germany draw because I'm a nice guy. You're welcome.
31 Jul 18 UTC I’ll record it as a defeat for our league’s purposes
31 Jul 18 UTC Holy hell that was a weird game though
31 Jul 18 UTC Thanks
31 Jul 18 UTC Good game
31 Jul 18 UTC I think if I were England, France or Austria, I would have held off voting draw until Italy was eliminated and got a 3-way draw. My position was not defensible and I'm really aggressive for playing for a smaller draw myself. But thanks for letting me in.

31 Jul 18 UTC David, I think your German opening choice was not so good. Moving the fleet into holland antagonizes England (potential ally) without even knowing what England is up to. Combining that move with extreme aggression against France caused the two of them to ally together when normally they would not (in a gunboat game).

I think the best German opening, by a longshot, is:
KIE to DEN
MUN to RUH
BER to KIE
this gives you the biggest possible chance of a 3-build opening (by taking Denmark, Holland and Belgium potentially) without antagonizing any of your neighbors and also gives you the option to block Russia out of Sweden (if it looks like a good idea).
31 Jul 18 UTC Kevin we already talked about fighting off Lepanto the other day so I won't go over that again. It just sucks to get Turkey when I play Italy because that's my favored beginning strategy, haha.

31 Jul 18 UTC Ya, looking back through it I see it, still getting the hang of opening and how it looks to other players in these games.
01 Aug 18 UTC England, just out of curiosity, why didn't you hold off a bit and see if a solo was possible?
