Game won by dipperjay (1454 D (G))
05 May 18 UTC France shellacked us. Russia you should have supported me into Munich, we could have held a stable line against France.
05 May 18 UTC GOOD GAME EVERYONE. Congratulations France.
05 May 18 UTC Lol for days.
05 May 18 UTC Well played France
05 May 18 UTC Yes I should but I didn't know you would make that move.

Plus I had to defend constantly against that idiot Turkey who just threw the game to France.

And lol at Italy doing absolutely bugger all the entire game when he could have made a big difference.
05 May 18 UTC Thanks. Good game, thanks for playing all.
05 May 18 UTC Well played France but you owe Turkey and Italy a lot of thanks.
05 May 18 UTC I signaled that I was going to Munich by going to Munich on the previous turn, also by advancing all my armies toward Munich on the turn before! It was the linchpin of the stalemate line.

I wish I were in Munich
05 May 18 UTC Don’t forget Austria’s self support moves in the beginning :)
05 May 18 UTC I was exploring Peace. I was worried that Italy would appear, which the new Italy eventually did. I didn't want to be out of position and surprised. So I stayed home.
05 May 18 UTC I challenged the assumptions of the game, and lost.
05 May 18 UTC Nmpolo, I know, but that’s part of the game I guess. I had cancel up the entire game, up until the last Fall season in which I was going to win because of Italy’s NMR in the first year.
05 May 18 UTC Indeed. A lot of stupidity in this game.

Austria, yes, you did but the blame is on Turkey for making me defend so much that supporting you into Munich wasn't a big concern for me.
05 May 18 UTC And thanks for taking over Italy, Commander Thomas.
05 May 18 UTC It was Russia's responsibility to get to a stalemate with France in the north. Italy and I had him covered in the south.

Russia thought they could solo and stabbed me and France in an poor decision
05 May 18 UTC Yeah that's fair, France. I removed my cancel because I wanted to tell Turkey he's an idiot for throwing the game to France and if the game cancelled, we'd never know who was who.
05 May 18 UTC When did I stab you? Lol. I was defending against you all the time.
05 May 18 UTC I didn't think I could solo, France was always in a far better position to win the entire game and only had 1 small border to defend.
05 May 18 UTC I agree, with a passive Italy, I could concentrate on the north and because Russia didn’t really break through in Denmark and Germany, my position was very good,
05 May 18 UTC I think, nmpolo, you maybe have supported Germany for too long, instead of taking it yourself and adding the units to your defense
05 May 18 UTC I needed at least 1 more unit in the north to hold you off, France, but needed everything in the south to prevent Turkey advancing.
05 May 18 UTC Huh? I never supported Germany at all. He attacked me from the start too but I could only hold Sweden as he was trying to attack me too.
05 May 18 UTC That’s what I meant, perhaps if you’d taken Den and Kie earlier, you might have had that unit closer to the line earlier. But I’d have to go back to look at the details.
05 May 18 UTC My bad, it was an English fleet in Kiel.
05 May 18 UTC I couldn't take them. It was literally impossible since Germany disbanded his armies before he fleets and I had no way to move from GoB to Baltic.
05 May 18 UTC Germany's idiocy helped you a lot too, France. Still, well played.
05 May 18 UTC You’re correct
05 May 18 UTC I meant on the army/fleet disband, not the idiocy...
05 May 18 UTC Goodnight everyone, thanks again and see you around!
05 May 18 UTC Since this was my third game ever, anyone have any suggestions for learning more about the game?
05 May 18 UTC I was literally trying to give my centres to Russia from about 1904 onward to at least prevent the worst outcome. France played very very well indeed to get over the line... though of course the neutral Italy helped a lot (but fair play I suppose for a take-over position - thank you for helping out!).

Thanks for the game, all!
05 May 18 UTC Germany - well played for your third game - you performed admirably.

The bounce in Sweden is almost always bad - it picks a fight with Russia. Had you let him have Sweden then he probably would have been on your side against me - I would have been killed quickly and the game looks very different indeed. More generally - play more "talking" games if you can - they take longer but they give you the chance to learn more as you go. Otherwise: just practice! :)
05 May 18 UTC Thanks for the feedback!
05 May 18 UTC Thanks for the good sportsmanship France. I'm a little ticked about Russia giving up Berlin and silesia by destroying those units and going suicidal on Turkey but oh well. It's just a game. I can't critique her/his game play. The person has 1340 more dip points than me. You know me. Just being passive ;)
05 May 18 UTC I'd have defended against France had Turkey not insisted on attacking me whilst France was running away with the win. At a certain point, I was just delaying the inevitable.
05 May 18 UTC It's not like either you Italy or Turkey did anything to harass France from the south and instead just sat there letting him win. Funny how you blame it all on me.
05 May 18 UTC For the record, I don’t. I think it’s a classic gunboat issue where it’s hard to change course or alliance. Signaling is at best indirect, therefore takes a couple of game seasons, if at all, and even if it happens, moves are harder to coordinate, so the attacking party always has the advantage.
05 May 18 UTC I'm not blaming you Russia. I can't. You have more dip points than me as per my last message. Just salty about the two units being destroyed at the end.
05 May 18 UTC Why delay the inevitable? France had 4 units surrounding those 2 anyway. There was a risk of me being defeated had I allowed Turkey to easily take my southern SCs whilst France took the rest.
05 May 18 UTC I'm not blaming you Russia. I can't. You have more dip points than me as per my last message. Just salty about the two units being destroyed at the end.
05 May 18 UTC You would have survived. The game would have ended in the autumn phase regardless. The defeat/elimination for you would have been if he/she had 17 supply centers going into/past the build phase.
05 May 18 UTC My tank could have held Munich with Berlin and Silesia supporting. France may have been containable.
05 May 18 UTC That's what I mean. Had I held out against France so he was on 17, Turkey would have been eating up my southern SCs. So another year or two and I may have had nothing left.

This game was stupid. France had all his units available to defeat England and then take me on whilst I had 75% of my units occupied with fending off Turkey. Had Turkey realised France was the biggest threat and together with Italy, attacked Iberia etc, France would have had a much harder time winning.

It was so obvious for the majority of the game that France was going to win.
