31 Mar 18 UTC Spring, 1901: Good luck
31 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1901: Good luck. First 1v1 for me.
31 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1901: Good luck. First 1v1 for me.
31 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1901: I see... Mar > Spa is not a good idea. Let's go :-)
31 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1901: Why not?
31 Mar 18 UTC Spring, 1902: Because in FvA, you have to prevent Austria to reach 18 centers. It is a kind of race. And in sending an army that far away from the front line, you can't achieve that target. You gonna see.
31 Mar 18 UTC Spring, 1903: I think I might have some room for improvement, lol.
31 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1903: I get the feeling, I should've rushed straight for Germany.
31 Mar 18 UTC Spring, 1904: Germany is indeed a priority !
31 Mar 18 UTC Spring, 1904: Germany is indeed a priority !
31 Mar 18 UTC Ouch. Gg
31 Mar 18 UTC 1v1 is very different from usual Diplomacy. I can't explain you all the tactics because there are too many of them but globally :
* you have to move towards the adversary
* key territories are Mun - Ber - StP - Tun
31 Mar 18 UTC As a newplayer of 1v1, I would advise you :

As France :
* Mar > Pie > Ven
* Par > Bur > Mun
* Bre > Eng > Lon

As Austria :
* Tri > Ven > hold
* Vie > Tyr > Mun
* Bud > Gal > War
31 Mar 18 UTC Interesting, thanks! So natural centers like Iberia should basically be saved for last, like you saved Serbia and Rumania?
31 Mar 18 UTC And you're essentially trying to beat the other person to be stalemate line and punch through.
31 Mar 18 UTC Globally yes but with some restriction. You need to get 2 centers per turn. So you could take Spa when you play Bre > Mao > Spa with a fleet. But never send a unit back to take a center such as Mar > Spa ! You need to take the centers of your adversary...
31 Mar 18 UTC Yes : the one who wins is the one who crosses the stalemate, takes a center and hold it. It is easier for Austria to hold them and take all the other centers. France always wins at the end if Austria didn't get them fast enough.
31 Mar 18 UTC Makes sense. Sending the fleet to Spain keeps up the tempo, since it keeps the unit heading in the direction of the Austrian lines.
31 Mar 18 UTC Thanks! Glad I could learn from the mass whooping.
