03 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1901: Did you accidentally not move?
03 Mar 18 UTC Spring, 1902: Is this one of your first games?
03 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1902: yes
03 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1902: I'm happy to answer any questions you have if you want to chat.
03 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1902: You'll want to move all of your units every turn for sure.
03 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1902: yes
03 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1902: Have you played Diplomacy before outside of webDiplomacy?
03 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1902: ok thanks, i'm kind of confused as to how this works
03 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1902: nope
03 Mar 18 UTC Spring, 1903: http://webdiplomacy.net/intro.php

That's a useful link.
03 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1903: thanks!
03 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1903: Your units in Marseilles and in Portugal both moved to Spain, so the moves cancelled each other out. If you try the following order:

Marseilles support move to Spain from Portugal
Portugal move to Spain

Then you will have a power of two moving to Spain. Did the Intro help at all?
03 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1903: thanks!
03 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1903: thanks!
03 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1903: I supported your unit into Munich from Ruhr, so that move had a power of two behind its move. I moved Bohemia to Munich, but it only had a power of one. If the moves have equal or lesser power, then the move will fail.
03 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1903: A support hold adds one power to a unit holding in a territory. So you could support hold Munich with Burgundy and it would take all three of my units in the area to capture Munich.
03 Mar 18 UTC Spring, 1904: thanks!
03 Mar 18 UTC Looks like you tried a convoy. For a convoy to work you have to submit orders like the following:

Tuscany move to North Africa via Conoy
Tyrrhenian Sea convoy to North Africa from Tuscany
Western Mediterranean convoy to North Africa from Tuscany
03 Mar 18 UTC There are also retreats if you get kicked out of a territory, and that just about covers the basics.
03 Mar 18 UTC There are two ways to win the game. Either win on this classic map by getting to 18 Supply Centers or SC. Or you can vote Draw with all the remaining players and it will end in a tie victory. Go ahead and click the Draw vote at the bottom of the page.
03 Mar 18 UTC ok thanks for the clarification, it really helped
03 Mar 18 UTC There you go. You won your first game :)
03 Mar 18 UTC Some parting advice:

1. Assume that people you're playing against will always do what is in their best interest (including betray you if you're playing a team game).
2. I've had the most success by trying to accurately guess what the other players will do and basing my moves off of that.

Hopefully you'll stick around and play some more games on this site. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask or message me.
03 Mar 18 UTC ok thanks so much for your help!
