14 Apr 18 UTC Thanks for playing everybody

Paul, this was an extremely close game. you were just 1 year too late in protecting St Pete. If you had moved a fleet into Norway or Barents Sea 1 year prior it would have been a 3-way draw because st Pete can’t be taken from the south if defended by 2 units (and all other points in the map could be stalemated) - I would have ended at 17. Indeed I was going to vote draw if you protected st Pete.

Also, not that I consider this a mistake per se, but going back a few years I think if you had played more aggressively by coming into the med with your fleets it would have been you threatening to solo win and not me because you might have captured Tunis before I could finish off Turkey.

Sam one way you might have made up for England’s failure to defend you at st Pete might have been to run away from Warsaw and Moscow and put your armies in Norway and st Pete. With an army in Norway and st Pete you can defend st Pete from the south indefinitely, and by throwing away Warsaw and Moscow to me, England would lose the game if he dared to attack Norway or any of your other centers (because I would be at 17). What I am suggesting you could have done is not at all intuitive so it’s not like I expect you to have figured it out on your own, but that move - specifically doing it as Russia by retreating up into Norway and St Pete vs a southern power - is common in high level diplomacy games and indeed spencer once got into a draw that way in this league.
14 Apr 18 UTC Yeah I made a few lazy moves and realized the threat of the solo win too late. Gg
