24 Jan 18 UTC Thanks for a fun game everyone- especially you, england ;)
24 Jan 18 UTC Good win, Austria.
24 Jan 18 UTC Thanks everyone. My first Gunboat game.
I like them!
24 Jan 18 UTC England, really awful game!!! It could be at least draw, until you took Brest and Portugal. Why?!?

Austria, you should also thank Italy for letting you all his centers. ))
24 Jan 18 UTC Congrats Austria, well executed Blitzing
24 Jan 18 UTC they're great, find them much more enjoyable than chat games (prefer face-to-face).

England, did you want to throw me the solo?
24 Jan 18 UTC Italy left and deserves no credit.
24 Jan 18 UTC Sorry France got carried away and took my eye off the ball.
I didn’t know you could draw??
24 Jan 18 UTC After my opening bungled, I was trying to throw the game to England in the hopes that Turkey/Austria would ally up, but it was a long shot that early in the game. Congrats on the solo, Austria!
24 Jan 18 UTC I am new, could someone explain how it could have drawn?
24 Jan 18 UTC There's a draw button you can click to cast your vote to draw. Once all the remaining players vote draw, the game ends.
24 Jan 18 UTC It's underneath the box where you submit orders, just under the "Save" and "Ready" buttons.
24 Jan 18 UTC Ok, but Austria got to such a strong position why would he vote to draw?
24 Jan 18 UTC In that case, welcome Calmar. If a player gets 18 centers, the game is automatically over. When one player becomes close, as I did in this game, it is best to team up with the rest of the board to prevent that.

There is a 17 center stalemate line across the middle of the board. You and France had control of it. In the future, that's when you should hit the "draw" button.

Very well played for a new player!
24 Jan 18 UTC I thought it had to be unanimous?
24 Jan 18 UTC I see!!
To quick for me as I had heard of the stalemate line but never seen it in action.
I can see that now ( head slap!!)
24 Jan 18 UTC Definitely give it a google- very helpful to know.

Draws do have to be unanimous, but once you hold the line, the other person will (eventually) relent and take the draw. Had you not stabbed france another year, I would have drawn as I could not have crossed the line.
24 Jan 18 UTC Yes, the stalemate line can hold anyone from winning.
It's a pity, but yes, well played for a new player.
24 Jan 18 UTC Sorry guys!
Didn’t realise it was winner takes all as well, bugger, but now I know.
Thanks for explaining and now I know.
I want to be a good citizen of this site.
Cheers
24 Jan 18 UTC Well you're asking the right questions Calmar- much better response than some rookie players!

Have you ever tried face-to-face?
24 Jan 18 UTC Haven’t played the real board game since High School over 30 years ago.
Really happy I discovered this web version
24 Jan 18 UTC Yeah, I also do more like F-t-F ))

Don't worry, and welcome.
And if you have other questions, I think the forum could be very helpful.
24 Jan 18 UTC If the game drew I assume the defeated players stakes would have been shared among those surviving?
24 Jan 18 UTC well, if you're in the states, there are a variety of leagues if you'd like to get back into it. Feel free to message me if you'd like to hear more about it.

Anyways, great game, welcome to the site, hope to see you on another board soon!
24 Jan 18 UTC yes. they can be shared equally between the number of players or depending on how many centers does everyone have.
24 Jan 18 UTC F to F would be good to play again but not enough geeks in my area
24 Jan 18 UTC Australia
24 Jan 18 UTC oh, it's far away... anyway, also there they do have a championship.
24 Jan 18 UTC Thanks again guys
