17 Aug 17 UTC Good job stopping me at the end. I missed the chance to get Jacksonville and Houston on two occasions and that was it.
18 Aug 17 UTC Wow, I'm surprised you agreed to the draw. This was an odd game. Not sure what relationship Mexico had with the former Peru but he basically gifted me a whole bunch of centers with retaliation coming only too late. You deserved the win, and Florida and I simply tried our best to earn a bit of the cake!
18 Aug 17 UTC Nah I couldn't get there once you filled in Apalachee. I could have gotten New Mexico and Dallas back but I had no shot at Jax, Chihuahua, or Louisiana.
18 Aug 17 UTC Mexico seemed to be trying hard to help me solo and make Peru lose. My only regret is letting him down...I expected to solo until I botched it in Jax. Also the turn I took Chihuahua I failed to fill in NM. That also would have won the game.
18 Aug 17 UTC Yay, 1 point.
18 Aug 17 UTC Good game, all, except... gotta say I blame this entirely on Mexico. I don't know what the hell he was doing. He started off giving up his home centers to Peru. And then he gave the rest to Quebec. If he had put up a fight, I might have been able to hold off you guys attacking me on two fronts. Once that started happening I basically had no chance.
18 Aug 17 UTC And Texas, if you're listening, thanks for the alliance!
18 Aug 17 UTC No way! You were facing the righteous fury of the Québécois frog-eaters!
18 Aug 17 UTC Finger pointing has started. There is no reasoning behind my moves, just grudges.

I was the leading player for a while, but then I entered a standstill with Texas. We were in a state where neither of us could back off, but couldn't advance either. My plan was to spend a fleet to help out California, who was losing against British-Columbia. That one fleet managed to turn the tide and helped California took over. I hoped for a 2-way split with him.

I started to gain a bit of ground against Texas, but Peru was also almost done taking over Cuba. Peru was breaching our implicit non-aggression pact, and it became clear I would have to fight on two fronts. I was doing quite okay until California back stabbed me and started attacking me.

For me, the game was lost at this point. But there was no way I was going to let this slide. My enemies on the order of who I wanted to lose the most at this point: California (for betraying me after I helped him) > Peru (for breaking the non-aggression) > Texas > Florida. Yes, Florida was in there. He could have stopped Peru, but he didn't. I understand that's how the game is played, but the friends of my enemies are my enemies.

So, Peru had a whole frontline of fleet and land units coming at me. I could not stop him, plus I wanted to see California lose the most. But I couldn't quite reach California because Texas was in between. Time to stop being indecisive and go all out on the North, I'd say. I retreat all my units from Peru, and I use it on one massive attack on Texas. It turned out better than I thought because he got reduced to little quite soon. It made me think I should have done this much sooner, but too late for regret.

Then, California was my next target. I just had to make sure that I capture at least as many of Texas/California's sc's as the amount that Peru was capturing from me, in order to keep the units I have. This went well too.

Now Peru became confident and started attacking Florida as well. Saves me the effort of going there. So now what? I didn't expect to last this long. Peru became really big, but so is Quebec. Why not tip the scale I thought. So South I went again.

Honestly, if Quebec wasn't so eager with taking my sc's and gave me some more turns, and opted to focus on getting Peru's lands instead, then probably he would have been able to solo win this. I was doing a lot more damage since I was neck deep in Peru's lands.

This was the tale of Mexico's fall, taking (most) of his closest enemies with him.
18 Aug 17 UTC Yes I failed to realize until too late that you were intent on helping me to the solo. I saw what was happening to the south but assumed I would face the wrath as well so I figured to try to rush in before Peru could get there. Missed it by one turn.
18 Aug 17 UTC So it seems I was correct.
