20 Mar 16 UTC Good game all, but Germany, I'm curious just exactly what you were thinking, screwing with France so long and moving your fleets away from Baltic and Bothnia.
20 Mar 16 UTC Turkey, nice job getting the win. You were pretty inexorable.
20 Mar 16 UTC I literally only took Belgium because I thought it would scare you into drawing
20 Mar 16 UTC I literally only took Belgium because I thought it would scare you into drawing
20 Mar 16 UTC Good job Turkey, you saw the chance and took it
20 Mar 16 UTC Germany, you seem like a newer player, so a little bit of advice: Munich determines whether or not draws happen when Austria or Turkey are going for the win.
20 Mar 16 UTC Baltic and Bothnia was at a standstill so I thought to shift to the west and try to take out france quickly. Not a good plan i admit
20 Mar 16 UTC Yeah, Germany, as a bit of advice for future games, that game should have been drawn a while ago. There was no way at all for you to get a solo out of it, and you weren't trying to thin the draw, so I am not quite sure what you wanted to gain from keeping the game going.
20 Mar 16 UTC Correct me if I am wrong but the key draw line SC's are: St. Petersburg, Munich, and Iberia
20 Mar 16 UTC The main stalemate line runs through those points. Those are the centers an Eastern power needs to win. In practice, though, Iberia and St. Petersburg are very easy to defend from the West/North. Munich is usually where an Eastern Power solos.
20 Mar 16 UTC Yeah, thanks for the advice. Sorry France and England...
20 Mar 16 UTC The way I approach the game is I try and figure out where people can get 18 SCs. St. Pete is invulnerable from the south if it's got one unit supporting it. Marseilles is invulnerable from the south if it has one unit of support and Spain is not in hostile hands. Spain is invulnerable with two units of support as long as MAO and Portugal are safe, and MAO is safe with friendly Spain and one support. Therefore, the only way to get over 17 is by taking Munich or Berlin.
20 Mar 16 UTC neat
20 Mar 16 UTC There was one move (Autumn 1912) when Marseilles could have fallen, if Turkey had hit and Bur I would have had no way to support Marseilles until Paris moved to Gascony so a Pie to Marseilles was possible.
20 Mar 16 UTC (bur and spain)
20 Mar 16 UTC Yup, and that would have been enough for a Turkish solo.
20 Mar 16 UTC To be honest, I missed that completely. I was too focused on working out how to get Warsaw and Moscow, and I only gave that area of the map minimal attention.
