Autumn, 1914: No problem. On that note, my family is taking a road trip out of state starting tomorrow. I'll have internet on my phone and from the hotel rooms every day, but limited and I'll be short on communication. Will be back home next Monday.
Autumn, 1914: OK... If we're all doing this, I'll also have limited access from Thursday night to sunday. No pause needed either. I might need one though the weekend after as I'll be at the EDC in Leicester. |
|
Autumn, 1914: And I just can't be bothered talking to any of you anymore. ... ;) have a good trip turkey!
Autumn, 1914: I'll be tied up from weds to fri so in that period please don't do anything worthy of third party comment. Thanks in advance!
Spring, 1916: Alright, would be great if we could get a pause in after the retreats, pretty please.
Spring, 1916: How long are you thinking?
Spring, 1916: Oh nevermind, I see your note above.
Spring, 1916: I'm confused. Is there a pause request?
Spring, 1916: I think he is requesting one to begin following the retreat phase. I just clicked pause to show my approval, but if everyone can finalize retreats and send us into the next phase, England could finalize the pause.
Spring, 1916: Ok. Yes, pause please. |
|
Autumn, 1916: I will enter the last pause vote once we enter the retreat phase.
Autumn, 1916: No, no.... This phase, please! Am already in the UK.
Autumn, 1916: Oh, okay. Pausing now.
Autumn, 1916: Fight! Fight! Fight!
Autumn, 1916: I have voted to unpause, and hope that England and Germany join me, so that we can continue with the game as soon as France returns, leaving him only to click a button to progressed the timer
Autumn, 1916: If it takes too long just get a mod to turn his centers red.
Autumn, 1916: Thanks for the pause! back from beautiful UK now, the weather was much better than in NL. |
|
Autumn, 1916: Game on! | |
Autumn, 1916: It is on like a prawn that yawns at dawn.
Autumn, 1916: It's on like Donkey Kong.
Autumn, 1916: I know i'm out, but i wanna do one anyways... It’s on like Don Juan and that chick wearing the chiffon from The Black Swan strolling through Milan while twirling a baton. *drops mic* |
|
Autumn, 1916: That's pretty on.
Autumn, 1916: That's pretty on.
Autumn, 1916: Shit, shit, shit. Albania???? Albania? Shit.
Autumn, 1916: Pardners, just a note that on I'd like to request a pause from tomorrow afternoon until Monday afternoon. I'll be camping and there isn't really any kind of internet where we'll be from my memory of that location last year.
Autumn, 1916: Correction, I meant from Saturday afternoon.
Autumn, 1916: No probs turkey. Good luck with the tent
Autumn, 1916: Back. Thanks for the pause.
Autumn, 1916: Great trip, by the way. They were calling for scattered and "sometimes severe" thunderstorms, and we got through the float and a night of camping with clear skies and not so much of a drop of rain.
Autumn, 1916: Sounds great!
Autumn, 1917: Hey guys. I'll need another pause for 20 days. Will be on holidays at a place without internet access. Sorry for the inconvenience caused by that, I never thought this game would take so long.
Autumn, 1917: When are you leaving, France? Is it possible we can finalize builds and at least have a grasp of the map we are facing?
Autumn, 1917: Sure... I don't have a build anyways.
Autumn, 1917: 20 days?! Well jealous. When do you leave for the holiday? It may influence England's decision to wipe you out this year ;)
Spring, 1918: Wizard, I see you are back and have voted for unpause. Hope your time away was restful!
Spring, 1918: Not that restful, but it was good, thanks. Let's finish this... |
|
Spring, 1918: Oh, I had in my head that we were pausing until 8/29. Not sure where I got that from. What was happening in this game, again?
Spring, 1918: Agreed, I've totally lost track what my strategy was. Anybody notice where I left my armies?
Spring, 1918: Agreed. Let's finish this!
Spring, 1918: Three months to the day since Sh@dow has been on the site. Anyone know what drove him off?
According to his last message it looks like France did...
I don't know specifically, but it was some personal stuff going on.
Oh shoot, I hope everything's okay.
Good game all - was fun - if not crazy long. all the best to each of you! Congrats Turkey
Hmm, not with a bang, but a whimper. Well, if this works out that I do take the 18, I want to thank all of you for the charity in allowing me to stay in the game and propping me up so my wife stops looking down upon me.
Without Sh@dow, I'm not sure what sort of an after action report (as we call them on PlayDip we can construct, which is why I looked up his account, but I'd love to hear from Julien and VI, at least, about the early craziness of our corner. I was certainly the odd man out, but it would be nice to see how quickly that materialized and then fell apart. Thank you, Germany, for your partnership, while it lasted, and for the good sportsmanship and strong play from everyone else.
Sorry, forgot a parenthesis above. Anyway ...
Wow! Not quite the ending the game deserved but the build up all the way to this point more then makes up for it. Holy cow Skids, from 1 SC to solo with THIS crowd is nothing short of epic. Nicely done!! I'm sure it'll kick my GR rating on the nuts, but still gotta love the play in this one. Mad respect for THM, Skid, and BFG's play in this game. Was some pretty great out-of-the-box gameplay here. Wiz, don't feel we ever clicked and surprised by some of the lack of basic diplomacy efforts made but can't really deny your resiliency. Julien, I think you stalled a bit at the first and made a few decisions that hurt both of us, but you were otherwise a likable enough guy. Sh@dow..well guess you likely won't see this so I won't get into that. Wish I lasted longer but was very happy to get a chance to play with you all! Good game guys. |

Just heard my name talked about, so a few comments: first of all congrats to Skidmarks for the amazing feat of winning such a high level game after being down to one!!! I haven't followed the end though, so I'd like someone to explain me what happens, i.e. why the other players allowed a solo to happen? As to what happened in the eastern corner earlier on, well you may find this crazy, but actually I had issues finishing off players in this ga;e (first Turkey then Austria - as I both got the chance) as I felt it would be sad for them to be out of such an extraordinary game. Really, it was all about my good heart :) One decision that cost me the game though was Austria's. When I saw that both Austria and I were in a bind between Germany and Turkey, I understood that the only way to survive was to attempt a crazy turnaround against Turkey. But Austria did not follow my logics so stabbed me. Sure, he could not help me against Turkey but could have refrained from stabbing me as it led to both our deaths. Here I strongly feel that if Austria and I could have collaborated at that stage, we would have lived longer. Apart from that, I guess that my play in this game has been a bit too much of flip-flopping, as several times due to heavy work I connected late and had to make rushed (wrong) decisions, leading to animosity against me. But anyhow the game was amazing, I enjoyed it very much, and must congratulate all of you on the fantastic play! |
|
Hardly a year late :P Wow. what a game this turned out to be!!! I can still remember this game quite clearly. Congratulations Skidmarks! |
