12 Oct 14 UTC Autumn, 1906: Dearest Arch-Duke Franz-Josef I of Austria,
We apologise profusely for the inconvenience that our invasion of your lands have caused. As mentioned in our private conversation, we have set aside an Alpine schloss for you and your close family (at this point this is probably just Fufu...) to retire to. A carriage from Munich is heading for Albania to pick you up as we speak, followed by another carriage carrying our best pancake cook to ensure you that you will not lack a proper portion of Kaiserschmarn on your way back to German lands.
Regards,
Your cousin
Wilhelm II of Prussia
12 Oct 14 UTC Autumn, 1906: Dearest Arch-Duke Franz-Ferdinand I of Austria-Tuscany,

we have received notification that your uncle has eaten his wife and is now talking to his dog. In the interest of ruling our Austrian possessions wisely and well, we shall immediately proceed to found a Council of Austrian Studies and Relations in Corsica, from where the best ways of Italianizing the Triesting Austrians may be found.

Sincerely and wishing you all the best,
your friendly neighbour,
Senator Emmanuale Cesare Borghia I of Rome
13 Oct 14 UTC Autumn, 1906: Dear cousin Wilhelm,
I just received notice from our Marketstreet vendors that the supplies of Linzer cake as well as of Sacher cake are extremely low. Would it be possible to arrange an agreement for trading these Items? The well being of the English Nation might be in question if we have to eat shortbread with our 5-OClock tea.
Regards
Edward VII
13 Oct 14 UTC Autumn, 1906: Dearest Edward,
Not to worry, the export of Linzer and Sacher cakes will be taken up by a German subsidiary, so expect deliveries to assume normal (and punctual) frequency within a short time frame. We just need to complete the routine removal of the piles of Austrian corpses cluttering the main roads and in front of the bakeries.
Peace loving regards,
Wilhelm II of Prussia.
14 Oct 14 UTC Autumn, 1906: Woof! Woof! [FuFu, Austrian Emperor in exile]
15 Oct 14 UTC Spring, 1907: Dear fellow Despots

The Sultan of Turkey will be traveling until Sunday with limited access to the internet. He will check occassionally but please note he might not reply immediately.

Hassan, propaganda minister of Turkey
15 Oct 14 UTC Spring, 1907: OK, how about we pause the game then? Everyone vote 'Pause', please.
15 Oct 14 UTC Spring, 1907: Dear Cousins, Tsar, and Infidel Turk,
I tried to pause, but apparently voting rights are tied only to the landed gentry - and since I am currently a guest at an undisclosed Bad on a mountainside and not, technically, a landholder, I do not appear to have such voting rights. Nonetheless, the pancake is extremely good, so I am content. However, do send me a parchment and quill, and tell me where to sign (as with all those abdication documents a few days ago), if I am mistaken.
Regards,
Franz, Former Emperor of Austria-Hungary, Serbia, Rumania, Bulgaria, Greece, Smyrna, and Venice, If Only for a Short Time.
15 Oct 14 UTC Spring, 1907: PS - I appear to have forgotten the new Roman Senator. Insincerest apologies.
17 Oct 14 UTC Spring, 1907: Dear All,

Due to the approach of a saturnalian bacchanal, we can agree with Good Sultan's suggestion of a pause in the conflict.
17 Oct 14 UTC Spring, 1907: Regrettably, it seems like the Sultan has gone off for a long weekend at his hareem, or wherever it was he was going. But the 3-day turns should mean that he will be back before the end of the retreat phase.
17 Oct 14 UTC Spring, 1907: Well ... it seems he left before the pause!
18 Oct 14 UTC Spring, 1907: Exactly.
18 Oct 14 UTC Spring, 1907: Well....Free Döner for everyone?
18 Oct 14 UTC Spring, 1907: :)
18 Oct 14 UTC Spring, 1907: Guess so!
22 Oct 14 UTC Autumn, 1907: Out of character: once this game ends, I think it would be useful to all of us if we do a debriefing of the game and how each of us experienced it. I for one would be happy to share my thoughts and tactical / strategic considerations. I believe this could be very illuminating for everybody, new commanders as well as veterans. I've talked to Austria, and I know he also has some comments and advice.
22 Oct 14 UTC Autumn, 1907: In Character: DEATH to the infidels!

Out of Character: Good idea. I must admit I do not plan to start up a new diplomacy game. I am not hooked on this game, but I am willing to share thoughts - at least the few I had ;)
23 Oct 14 UTC Autumn, 1907: ooc: Same for me
23 Oct 14 UTC Autumn, 1907: OOC: we certainly can
23 Oct 14 UTC Autumn, 1907: OOC: Sure ... sounds good
25 Oct 14 UTC Would u mind convoying my Sweden tank to Luvonia?
25 Oct 14 UTC Dear English Prime Minister,
while we would love to, you have not allowed us to move warships into the Baltic Sea.
Sincerely,
Duke Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini, General of the First Pugno di Ferro Army in Serbia in the name of Imperador César Borja del Reño Unido de los Romanos.
25 Oct 14 UTC The spy that leaked this information has been flogged and drowned in warm beer!
25 Oct 14 UTC We bethought that floggings were no longer popular in the United Kingdom of Britain, Normandy, Brittany, Portugal and Scandinavia ...
25 Oct 14 UTC OOC: Dear all,

we would vote for a 1-day pause as this is an intense period and we will be travelling all day tomorrow.

Merci. OOC
26 Oct 14 UTC I would like a some days more. Im swamped.
26 Oct 14 UTC I can agree to that.
26 Oct 14 UTC So when should we unpause?
26 Oct 14 UTC Dear all,
Sorry to have missed the papers from Wednesday onwards: I certainly would like to talk at length about how invading Austria is always a bad idea, and how Austria never means to betray anybody - there are only misunderstandings…. (actually, I think it's just fun to find out what happened behind the scenes).
27 Oct 14 UTC Sorry...I had not time and brain power enough ATM. I would like to wait until Thu. If not I will just flip a coin.
27 Oct 14 UTC I can agree to that.
27 Oct 14 UTC Sorry - that was just a reloading the screen bug. >.<
30 Oct 14 UTC Lets unPause
31 Oct 14 UTC Sorry, wasn't paying attention.
31 Oct 14 UTC I just realised that there's been quite a bit of messaging since the build phase. I have been quite busy and didn't check the non-Global messages before now. I apologise for not responding and hope that my silence has not been misconstrued as hostility.
04 Nov 14 UTC I'd like to suggest a draw. This has been a fun game, but at the moment I'm not really motivated for continuing it. How would you feel about voting for a draw?
04 Nov 14 UTC Okay with me.
04 Nov 14 UTC [ the Austrians left in Tuscany vote 'yes'! (apparently the voting registers haven't been updated recently ]
04 Nov 14 UTC Happy about that
04 Nov 14 UTC Ok with me
05 Nov 14 UTC Good game. Enjoyed it.
05 Nov 14 UTC Hello, all, - sorry for being quiet for a bit. I was somewhat occupied at home. Where were we?
05 Nov 14 UTC We all are trying to agree on a DRAW and ending this game.
05 Nov 14 UTC Hello, all, - sorry for being quiet for a bit. I was somewhat occupied at home. Where were we?
05 Nov 14 UTC Since we saw a large preference for drawing, the peace-loving Roman Empire of Cesare Napoletano Augusto Emiliano Gandalfo has decided to join you in bringing peace to this bloody continent in the year of our lord Augustus Caesar 1934. May the Imperial Eagle soar free like a bird for many a long year to come!

06 Nov 14 UTC Godamnit, why does this silly page always duplicate my post when I log in again? Grrr.
06 Nov 14 UTC Right, now that's done - who was going to betray who once Russia fell? (since I still can't believe that England, Italy, and Germany are still all friends).

OK, gossip out of the way: do we want to just randomly begin with a 'debrief' on this chat? If so, I suggest we try to look at phases: for me, the rough timeline goes:
- setup (~first year)
- taking sides (France and Turkey attacked, Russia and England glare at eachother)
- I (Austria) over-reach, suffer (probably deserved) retribution from all
- Turn against Russia

and I'd propose beginning at the start. But do the above four game phases seem roughly sensible? Also, I can contact 'Cornish' and see if he wants to be part of discussions again.
06 Dec 14 UTC I think the start was more along the lines of Italy attacked by France :)
