I don't see a way I could make progress against Italy Ukraine and if I let Egypt take all of Italy he would solo.

well if i hadn't put the draw up initially the board wouldn't have rallied against spain (since they would likely think i'd prefer points to a draw); taking it down would likely cause germany and italy to consider throwing the game to spain (in the hopes i would come back to the draw).
that's why i covered serbia for italy and was planning on taking the draw down this turn (giving me one more turn of a friendly italy), i think spain must have accepted immediately after the process otherwise we would still be playing.

in hindsight i should have let ukraine retreat to serbia and hoped italy just thought i was sloppy and hopefully spain would have played one more turn
