06 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: Would you each considering pausing until this problem can be fixed?
06 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: I am having problems entering orders but I put it down to the server at work as I can enter them at home.
06 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: Paused
06 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: thanks metalwarlord
06 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: I can't enter them either?
06 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: Never mind it worked
06 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: I've paused as well.
06 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1906: I Paused
06 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1906: Did we just skip a turn?
06 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1906: I think
06 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1906: That sucks.
07 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1906: well i was unable to enter the orders I wanted to make - so I had to put in orders the game would accept, which is a shame. I was hoping the mods would pause the game until it could be resolved but I guess not.
07 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1906: How come the phase is unit placing? The last phase was Spring???
07 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1906: I am voting for a pause until this fixed.
07 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1906: Yeah I'll vote for a pause too. Have you submitted a request to have this fixed?
07 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1907: Last night when I tried to enter my moves I received an error message:
"parameter from terr set to invalid value".
So I had to put in a different move than I would have otherwise.
I emailed the mods asking for the game to be paused, but the phase ticked over anyway. But then it paused for five minutes, then went to the unit placing phase!!! This is crazy.
I have posted in the forum but I'll email Kestas again (I believe TGM forwarded my original email).
07 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1906: GameMaster: This game has been moved back to Autumn 1906
07 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: GameMaster: This game has been moved back to Spring 1906
07 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: GameMaster: (kestasjk): okay dokey, sorry about that, thanks for you patience, let me know if anything else goes wrong.
08 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: Okay so now the turn has been rolled back.
This creates a dilemma. Do we play our moves now with knowledge of what each of us played? This knowledge can change the perspective somewhat.
08 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: That is the game is in a new reality and we have to deal with that.
08 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: Or do we play exactly the same moves as we did before - where each of us is honour bound to play the same moves?
08 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: The problem with that is that one of the reasons the game was rolled back is that there was a bug which stopped some normal moves from being entered.
08 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: For example I ended up having to enter a move that I did not want to enter because it was impossible to enter the move I actually wanted.
08 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: I entered the move - but when I did I was hoping I would not have to actually play the move as I thought the mods or kestas would pause the game. I only entered the move as a worst case scenario.
08 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: So now I can go back and play the move I wanted to make - the difficulty now is that move I ended up having to make affected my other choices too, to a degree.
08 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: BUT if I can change moves - then does this mean the rest of the players in this game can change their moves too?
If so that is something which I need to consider when entering my moves - I know you know my moves, and you know I know that....
Anyway I would be interested to players thoughts on this.
The last time a rollback occured (and it happened to everyone on webdip) it caused a lot of debate - because some players changed their moves while others insisted that everyone had to play exactly the same moves.
Thoughts anyone?
08 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: I';ve got the same moves
08 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: Ive got the same.
08 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: I'm playing the same moves. But they will appear different...
08 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: that makes sense o.0
08 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: They will appear different? interesting.
Everyone forget what you thought the last turn was - it was all just a dream.
08 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: Well England you actually played different moves, but I am okay with that. I played the move I was trying to make but for some reason the system would not allow Mid to support my move to Portugal, which was something I emailed the mods about and posted to the forum about.
08 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: Which was the reason that Kestas rolled the game all the way back to Spring rather than to Autumn.
08 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: I might have played a couple of other moves differently knowing as I did what was to happen but I decided that it might be unfair since the consensus was that we would not use the information to our advantage (or at least that is how I interpreted our messages to global chat).
But I'll admit that this situation is a moral grey area.
08 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1906: The reason I said that it will appear different was just to throw you all off. I played the exact same moves... and did a good job of it too!
10 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1906: Well I kind of forgot the moves I played before the rollback.. Its hard to keep track when your in many games. Sorry
19 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1908: I thought this phase was nearly over. When I looked last night there was 20 hours to go. Curious.
20 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1908: Sorry for delay everyone, so much going on this week. I am on holiday from tomorrow for a week so I promise to stop holding everyone up.
20 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1908: Its all good
21 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1908: Hello everybody. This is Le_Roi posting.
Denis is away for reasons unexplained, so I'm sitting his games for him.
I'll try not to mangle his plans too badly.
21 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1908: Welcome Le_Roi
23 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1908: i'M BACK!!
24 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1909: Can't enter moves and I keep getting an error message.
24 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1909: I'm voting for a pause.
24 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1909: It's okay now for me, I know other players say they still have the problem. The phase time has been reset.
Anyone else experienced this?
25 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1909: i'm a bit tangled up right now and i will take the time to read back after the thanksgiving weekend is over I will be away yet agian and Le_roi will be sitting.
25 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1909: Good. With his help, I have no doubt that my master plan of German-speaking domination of the European continent will come to fruition.
26 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1909: I believe that denis was back, but he has asked me to sit once more, until Sunday in light of Thanksgiving. I am not quite sure when he wanted me to start- the PM has disappeared - but I remember something about Wednesday. Better safe than sorry. So here I am.
-Le_Roi
26 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1909: Sorry if this has been confusing but my trip has been cancelled so I will not be needing A sitter.
Denis
