09 Feb 14 UTC gg, all
Really didn't expect to pick up 3 that one year. Kind of threw me off and made for a weird early draw. Sorry to have drug it out. Thought to eliminate Italy... but got bored eventually.
09 Feb 14 UTC Well, here's to Barn3tt's boredom! Thanks everyone. I really enjoyed the game
09 Feb 14 UTC I am surprised Lando drew after I took Naples. Another year and you would be dead.
09 Feb 14 UTC yeah, I would've deserved it too. Not my greatest ever game. Experimented with the "wait and see" approach with Italy, but nothing ever really fell right.
09 Feb 14 UTC good game. Surprised by the lando draw...
09 Feb 14 UTC terrible play by me, just as expected these days :(
09 Feb 14 UTC Nobody was attacking me but nobody was being my friend. So easy to make this fat draw 3way but Turkey always refused. I am curious about this as russia left himself open. I guess the tactic would have been too avant garde? ? Anyway, I saw my chances to draw fading and was also getting bored. Since nobody wanted anything to do with me I figured I would draw in case anyone was relying on me to keep it going. I think most everyone had draw up too early, kind of a pet peeve of mine. The game was good, ending kinda boring. Thanks for having me .
09 Feb 14 UTC I knew you wanted us to attack Russia Lando but I didn't want to take Rumania. I didn't want to hand the solo to France, unlike you.
09 Feb 14 UTC I don't see how it would have handed France the solo - in my opinion there would have been no chance for a French solo - we outnumbered in fleets in the south and Russia had pushed so far west we had the advantage to get WAR and MOS. I see that you were reluctant, but I think that your supposed reasoning is incorrect - it would have been very minimal risk. You simply didn't want to, it seems, which is fine.
09 Feb 14 UTC Ok,as you wont take my word on it seriously you can ask Barn3tt would he have taken the solo if we had attacked Russia.Or ask Jose would he have disbanded the fleet in Rumania or some other unit of his, possibly on the French front.Or you can simply try to count our 17 SC-s in case of the potential AFT draw.
Which would be our 17th SC?
09 Feb 14 UTC Lando, if the current stalemate line, built by Russia is broken, the only way to stop the French solo, is to hold Berlin from the mainland, requiring 6 units, mosc+liv+war and pru+berlin+silesia. Most of those units, obviously must be russian, hence you cannot eliminate him fully, to be precise you cannot exclude him from the draw.

Also there's another stalemate, with Berlin+Denmark+norway+barents, russia being on baltic+ska. The problem with this line is, if you start eating up Russia, what's the guarantee he won't throw norway to France, or any crucial SC, to make you guys realize you need him. The moment you take moscow+warshaw from him, there's no way you can stop france, as you will not be able to hold Berlin anymore. Hence you need tunis first.

So the point is, if you want to eliminate russia, you have to take back tunis first, in order to do that, you should assist turkey into italy and ionian. Also, the moment turkey gets a build, and france pulls back from north, russia can focus on austria+turkey again.

Besides the fact italy should have been eliminated, I don't really see how this game could have been a 3-way draw. Without the turkish fleet you would lose, withouth the russian units. The only country which can be eliminated is austria I think.

Russia could move to Boh+Gal+Rum with armies, and while he slowly retreats north, he grabs vie+bud making it possible for turkey to finish the job in the mediterranean.

Yet if turkey had attacked russia, with a new fleet he could have taken greece, or russia moving ro rum from ukraine or galicia could have helped turkey into serbia or greece. I think Turkey should have indicated at this point he wants to eliminate austria, as I think the french solo is not a real threat in case R+T decide to go after austria.
09 Feb 14 UTC Excatly, great ananysis roka! Glad someone else can understand the only 3-way possible here was the FRT.
A potential AT (although not even close to a probable) wouldn't be even close to reach 17. It would be a problem to reach War,Rom & Nap even, not to mention Tunis,in these circumstance you can forget about Tunis.
As I said Lando - if I had joined your "non avant garde" ideas we would have both taken 0 points from this game.
09 Feb 14 UTC I think that Turkey and Austria can retake Tunis much easier than you both assert it to be
09 Feb 14 UTC Well, thinking is one thing and elaborating is another one. I'm telling you not only it isn't easy but it's impossible actualy. It's the so called "stalemate line".Don't look at the final picture but the picture of the year when you wanted me to take Rumania. And explain,if you want, your magic by which you would take Tyrhenian away from France if it's defended by three fleets from the west.
